I'm running a draft tournament tonight at my local store! Should be fun for all who show for the event! It is a decent set even with all the Ultimate versions of previously released characters :disappoin Maybe Mutant Mayhem will give us a lot more new figures than old one! One can always dream!

From the look of the Pre-release Tournaments, they got a lot of uniques while when the actual set releases, the uniques aren't a plenty. So now we know who to blame about where all the Uniques went to. =P

Were I generally paying that much for them, I certainly would. Buying online and by the case can bring that down substantially. Were I to buy them locally I'd be paying $8.47/booster, with PA tax added... which is well over the line for me unless it's part of an event. If I had to pay close to retail for these I'd end up waiting to buy singles or sets off eBay.

Well there is a simple solution to this... dont let them sit in a tacklebox... drive to tourneys and if there aren't many in your area, then look on the WK site and drive an hour to one. They're worth it.

I'm a bit worried now. I've never seen a case that did not have 8 uniques. For the first time I went in on 1/2 a case (after buying 30 boosters of Unleashed and only getting a unique in #30) and I'll be more than slightly disappointed if there are only 5 or 6 in the case. :confused:

This is the junk you put up with by being an early adopter, and why I don't buy new cases anymore. You get jacked on mix problems, have to pay more money and when you write WK they are unsympathetic because the packing is "random."

Unfortunately, Ebay and aftermarket trading still remain the best way to collect and enjoy HeroClix.

Yeah I traveled far and wide today before finding a place that had them and spent 40 bucks on 5 boosters (little birthday gift for myself) and I got some great figures.

Notables: Rookies: Ghost Rider, Black Widow, Beast, Anaconda, Sabertooth (already broke him trying to turn him). Exp: Beast, Cyclops, Marvel Girl. Vet: Punisher and Ghost Rider. Uniques: Goblin Queen.

I'm satifised for now.

I just got my case... hopefully I'll pull some good pieces. Whats with the plastic wrap around the boosters. Pretty soon the boosters are gonna have a numerical keypad that you have to type in a code for.

I'd seen the shrink wrap at the pre-release tourney but forgot to mention it. It appears that despite the box redesign and "security tabs" on the top that there was still some apprehension about tampering.

Opened up 7 boosters today. Got a Vindicator (yaa!) and, like, 10 Princess Pythons and not a single figure with the Ultimates ability, let alone a Captain America (Boo!). Overall, a very pleasing set, thought. I really like Hellcat (she has little toes on her boots!). The Spiderman sculpt is the best yet, and his stats are fantastically playable.

Biggest flaw I have seen so far is Ultimates Wolverine--he has a very cool sculpt and I like that he is on the acrylic lifter stand, but with the AE base on there, he is *soooo* gonna break off the base in minutes of use. Poor engineering plan.

I've never been less excited opening my packs. My brother and I only split half a case this time, much fewer than usual. "Oh boy, another version of a figure we already have..." And in our half case, only two uniques. And both were Hulk. "Oh look, another unique version of a figure we already..." How many cool NEW figures could we have if we didn't get these lame remakes foisted on us?!

No Thor sadly. But otherwise a great case, only missing V Spiderman and R Marvel Girl from the nons.

OK, played in a sealed tournament today and bought 3 Ultimates boosters. Got Thor and Baron Zemo. Nice. I guess I´m lucky at getting uniques.. The case of Unleashed a friend and I split had 11 uniques in it.. Unfortunately my luck in the game isnt as good, as my team which consisted of U Thor, E Hawkeye, R Punisher lost against a team with 2 outwits and Captain Brittain, then barely managed a win against a team with another U Thor, V Lizard and E Doc Ock. The last game I was beat by a team with Beast and Magneto. So I ended up 8th in the tournament.. This set seems very playable. Lots of good mid-range models and not too many overpowered uniques. Perfect for sealed tournaments.

Just opened my case and did pretty well. Got 8 uniques (only 1 in the top half of the case), all but magneto, zemo, thor and crimson cowl. Luckily I had magneto and zemo from the pre-release tourney. Missing 9 nons (again, had a few I needed from pre-release):

Ah! Good! Glad to hear it, not only for your sake, Doc, but because it's part of a rising tide of 8-unique case reports.

I'd have to dig up the specifics, but my Unleashed case was solid. It was the first one where all 8 uniques were different -- I almost always end up with 2 duplicates in a case -- and my REV coverage was wonderful.

I'm sure it's just a packing mistake in the chinese chaos that is inevitable just before a set is released.Like putting a gold one in instead of a red one is a major mistake to the people who pack the boosters...

My local shop in Buffalo got me a half case for $112, which means $224 for a full case. Frankly, I'm amazed at that price!

Ok, a quick case report for those of you who are getting a bit paranoid.

I've opend three and a half cases (need the rest for the Marquee)

The three full cases each produced 8 uniques and no LEs. Spread of uniques was fairly good throughout each case - ie RANDOM.

The fourth half case has produced 5 uniques from the top half - I guess there are 3 left in the remaining 24.

The mix of uniques was good too - of the 29 I pulled the scores are as follows

Magneto - 4
Iron Man - 4
Hulk - 3
Baron Zemo - 3
Xorn - 3
Crimson Cowl - 3
Thor - 2
Phoenix - 2
Mr Sinister - 2
Goblin Queen - 1
Carnage - 1
Vindicator - 1

Of these I pulled 2 Mags from the 2nd case - the rest of the cases had no duplicate uniques.

As far as nons go I got two full sets, and was two figures short of a third - V Colossus and V Black Widow!!!!! . Other figures in fairly short supply were unsurprisingly the rarity 5 vets - Dr Ock, Captain Britain and Cyclops. Perhaps inevitably the most common figures was R Princess Python :ermm:

Overall I can't complain about the mix - it's a random as a repetitive manual process can be.

.....my blood runs cold for all who were short uniques in their cases. a friend and i faired very well w/ our case. i have split cases w/ this friend since CosmicJustice, but this time we split 36/12 and that worked out great for me. i ended up buyin' 40 boosters total ended up w/ an xtra Baron unique, and after a night of playin' and tradein' i now need only 5 R/E/Vs and 4 Uniques. the case we split had
2 Vindicators
1 Mr.Sinister
1 Magneto
1 BaronZemo
1 CrimsonCowl
1 Thor
1 IronMan
1 Xorn
as you can see we ended up w/ 9 uniques. plus that friend pulled 2 uniques outta separate boosters and traded for the xtras i had. so now i have all uniques above. got a lot of Scourge and Hellcat. awesome newclixday though!

Well, I bought 4 boosters yesterday and got 2 U's, Hulk and Magneto. Now, I don't care if I only get 5 in my case just as long as I get Thor and Iron Man. But if I only get 5 and don't get T & IM, I will be a sad little monkey. Heck, I'll be a sad little monkey if I don't get Thor REGARDLESS of how many U's I pull in my case, because I don't want to have to repeat the Silver Surfer incident.....(Paying $40 for one)
Still need most of the high end REV's though, I only have V Cap and Punisher. but, with my case arriving today, I will report back as soon as I can!

Apart from that my REVs were really good. After the case i was only missing 4 nons, namely R Doc OC, R Capt. Britain, R Wrecker, V Marvel Girl.

This is the firs ttime I've purchased a case before. I openned half of the boosters last night.

I've managed to pull 5 uniques thus far:

Thor x2
Iron Man
Hulk
Phoenix

Needless to say, I'm quite pleased with my pull thus far as my wife and I have had terrible luck pulling uniques. When I started playing I managed to pull a unique from my starter. 40 boosters later my wife and I still had not pulled another unique. So a ratio of 5/24 is pretty good for me (hopefully I haven't jinxed the rest of my case!!!!)

Some interesting points of note:

-They appear to be using corrugated cardboard for the boosters rather than the thin chip board. I don't have any of the older boosters to measure against, but if they are still the same external dimensions they will have a smaller internal volume to hold the minis. I don't know about the rest of you, but many of my clix have been rather "snuggly" held in the boosters making them difficult to get out.

-As mentioned before, the Wolverines are nice to look at, but horrible to click. They really need to come up with an new design for the AE bases. Something like having the top of the bases be colored so they could just use the standard ring bases.

-Some of the characters seem to be getting different style of paint. For example I have 2 rookie black widows. One has a more glossy black paint while the other has a flat black paint. I have 2 princess Pythons that are painted differently (gloss vs flat) as well)

I'll report back when I open the rest of my case.

Opened the case, got the usual 8 uniques. No Thor or Magneto, but did get Iron Man and Phoenix. And I am pretty sure I got a complete set of nons, which has never happened to me before.
The cardboard is definitely thicker, plus each one is shrink-wrapped. Good, but takes longer to open...

Also, I was surprised that Spider-man and Doc Ock weren't AEs given the timing with the movie release. Then again, given Spider-man is on the new "leaping" post it's probably for the best.

After I finished opening up my case, I was unhappy. I was thinking, "Dang, I only got 7 uniques!" and then "But nobody will believe that I only got 7 uniques, because everybody always gets 8!"

And then I recounted, just to be sure. :surprised Oh, I forgot to count Xorn. I *did* get eight.

I got NINE Uniques..I always thought people were making it up or miscounted, but last night in my first of 2 cases I got 9..It was funny because my daughter and I were talking and she says after we pulled number 8, "Well, that's all our special ones Dad" and I say "You never know we might get SUPER LUCKY and get nine". She says "That would be Super Lucky, has anyone gotten nine?". I say "Well some people say they have, but I have never seen anyone, or know anyone". She says " So you don't believe them?" I say "nope, not really"...Then with 3 Boosters left she pulls a Ninth Unique!! She starts screaming and yelling when she sees Blue.."WE ARE SUPPPERRR LUCKY DAD!!!! I say " AWESOME"....She always helps me open and on the last set we bought 5 cases of unleashed and by the 3rd case, once all 8 were pulled she would stop opening saying The Hunt was done...She may have a New Outlook Now!!

On Wednesday I got an e-mail saying that my case had shipped from c o l l e c t a n d s a v e.com (subtract spaces) and was pretty glad since that probably meant I'd get it on Saturday. Then the next day I woke up and outside there was a big package on my doorstep with Wizkids written all over it. So yes, I got it the next day AND I even used the free ground shipping, no overnight stuff. Major props the company (second case I've ordered from them). Here's what I got:

Hulk x2
Iron Man x2
Pheonix
Mr. Sinister
Carnage
Goblin Queen

Missing these nons: V Hellcat, R Cyclops, V Wrecker, V Marvel Girl, V Sabertooth.

Pretty good pull. No Thor (looks like it's time to take a trip to ebay) but I got 2 Hulks and Iron Men, which so far have proven to be good for trades. The worst part is that I wound up with pulling 8(!) E Anaconda's. Seems like the Scarecrow of the set for me.

Split two cases with my brother and a friend. 8 uniques per case - NO Crimson Cowls.

Worked out pretty decently. My brother and I got 6 Uniques, friend got 4, but he'd already pulled a Thor from an earlier batch of Boosters, so he's got 5 now. Pretty even. After trading and such, all I need is a V Morlock, V Spidey, V Cyclops in the nons.

Only Us I really care about getting are probably U Thor and Mr. Sinister. Mainly because I can't stop singing his name to the tune of Otis Redding's "Mr. Pitiful." "Call me Mr. Sinisterrrr..."

Trouble is, I don't think I've got enough Mysterios for my Hall of Mirrors team. I'll have to check when I get home.

Picked up 18 boosters at neighborhood store and pulled one unique Iron Man. Thats it. Thats my worst luck ever...

Sigh, oh yeah and a veteran storm with no head! She must have given it to somebody "nudge nudge wink wink"....

Just opened my case and was disappointed that so many figures are messed up with GLUE all over them, both of my Unique Carnage Bases look AWFUL !!! So does my Unique Magneto and numerous NONs... The LE catwoman I mailed away for also had Awful bases with glue on them...

I also received a few boosters with only "3" figures in them, they were kind enough to send me the empty plastic though..

They raise the prices and the quality goes way way down... Don't even get me started on the Universe Set...

Does Wizkids replace figures with Glue on them ???

Cracked my case open Sunday night, Had the standard 8 uniques, but no duplicates which was great (my last two cases I had 8 and 7 uniques respectively with lots of duplicate uniques).

My most frequent pulls were Hawkeye (12), Punisher (11), Black Widow (10), Anaconda (9)

I'm happy with it. Only 13 nons and 4 uniques (Crimson Cowl, Hulk, Iron Man, Mr Sinister) to finish.
