Since it is summer time, I'm looking for some crazy ideas. Crazy ideas for tournaments, specifically for the tournament at champions coming up on the 24th.

Also, I'm thinking we might try some format breaking tournaments with alternate win conditions, or some structured battle royals that will be really challenging.

Some examples of what I mean when I say 'really challenging battle royals,'

Mutant Massacre

I would field a 300 pt Sentinel, Bastion, Sentinel Captain, and Sentinel troopers. There is the possibility that I would add extra sentinels to reach whatever designated point build. Each player would build an army, and also would be required to bring along a certain number of morlocks, moloids, thugs, lackeys, and BST to represent mutants, criminals, and other 'undesirables' that are being targeted by the sentinels. There would be a large penalty if you let all of the targeted characters get KO'd, such as a negative addition to your point totals at the end of the match or all of your figures having to take a click and an action token to represnt demoralization.

or

Superman is a ####.

Your amries will face off against nigh unstoppable supermen. I would field figs. such as Superman (unl.), Superman (OWAW), Superman (HT), General Zod (lgc.), and Ultraman(lgc.). These figs. would all have fortitude, not take action tokens or push, be immune to perplex, and share team abilities. Other conditions would be that they are immune to BFCs, but you would still play them to gain strategic advantage over your opponents. Once all players have had two turns the outer two rows became uninhabitable, if your figure is in these two rows it takes a click on everyone one of your turns that it remains in those two rows. If a superman fig. is KO'd, I leave it KO'd on my next turn, but on the turn after the turn it was KO'd it is revived at full strength. Players would battle for the most kill points, Supermen and opponents figs., as well as longest survival time.

Just some ideas. If anyone has any really crazy ideas, post away. I mean crazy, but it still needs to be fun and not give any one player or fig. an unfair advantage.

Saw it last night. Didn't like it as much as Keaton/Nicholson Batman, but it was definitely good and looks like it's taking the Batman franchise in the right direction....not that that would be all that hard to do after the last couple movies. :cheeky:

not too impressed with nimrod. i have a scenario though.

A TRAITOR WALKS AMONGST US.

300 POINTS, 6 FIGURES, ALL WITHIN 40 - 60 POINTS.

NO FEAT CARDS, NO BATTLEFIELD CONDITIONS.

1 OF YOUR TEAM IS THE TRAITOR CONTROLLED BY YOUR OPPONENT

HE GETS STEALTH PLUS +1 ON DEFENSE

LINE UP FIGURES AT THE START NUMBERED 1 - 6

ROLL 1D6 WHICHEVER # COMES COME, THAT IS THE TRAITOR.

CAN NOT MOVE HIM OR ATTACK HIM 1ST TURN.

I'LL TELL MORE @ THE TOURNEY FRI

LET ME KNOW IF THIS SOUNDS INTERESTING.

Hello everyone,
I am back from my vacation. If you have not been I would advise all of you go to Seattle. It was a blast. Plus, that place is full of Asian women. I was in heaven. I told Liza if we ever break up that is where I am moving. I thought the Nimrod figure looked good. I still prefer the Dr. Doom though. What did you guys think about them.

I wanted to say that I really liked Batman. Oddly enough, I did not like it as much as Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I loved that movie. Brad Pitt hops out of the back of the car a hits someone in the head with a golf club. It was great.

Also, I saw a man with a squirrel on a leash in Seattle. It was odd.

Champions 06/24:

600 pts. 3 actions. All figures have to be cosmic themed or have had cosmic adventures. Being from another planet doesn't qualify as being cosmic themed.

How do you guys like the Dr. Strange? I think it is my favorite figure thus far. I also like the Rouge figure. I am trying to find a cheap case. I think that I will just buy it from Icons. $220.00 is hard to beat.

Did everyone see the much lauded Exp. Juggernaut? I don't think it is a bad figure for its point cost, and the first click of 18 Def. w/Imp. is pretty impressive for this set considering most attacks don't raise above a 10.

Pulled 5 rookies out of nine figures but getting a Nimrod purple ring made that seem okay. Day became a total waste of my life when after 5 1/2 hours of waiting for fellowship to be announced, they gave it to that kid Will Smith, the one that attempted to cheat on Justin and then turned around and pulled the same bs on Amy. The same one Amy told us she changed his rating to a five thereby 'supposedly' eliminating him from fellowship consideration. Tell me someone seriously wasn't paid off on that one.

That sounds incredibly lame. The only kid at the Pre-Release I went to, won it also. He was a good kid though, so I can't really complain....just get tired of seeing it go to kids just because they're kids.

I ended up getting Purple Ring Nimrod, Volcana, Baron Blood, and Arnim Zoloft.
I pulled Mad Thinker and along with Vet. Karma, they were Mind Controlling freaks and were really kind to me, except for the last round where I rolled about 5 or 6, 3's. Oh well, can't win them all, but it was still a lot of fun.

...they gave it to that kid Will Smith,...

Are you sure it was the same kid? That whole deal with that kid sounds screwy, I heard he was out right cheating and new it, also that he was going back and changing the ratings he gave out.

Anyways, I wouldn't say that I didn't have fun at this pre-release; however, I wouldn't call the experience overly enjoyable. I'm fairly pleased with the figures that I pulled, more so than I was at the Legacy pre-release. Overall, I think the set is very playable for sealed play and even though I really could have built two very similar teams from what I pulled, they were well balanced teams despite lacking what most might call necessary utility powers (i.e., TK). I even had fun playing in the rounds, for the most part. The second round I played Dennis and lost. His team was a little more balanced than mine, and I missed a critical roll b/c I didn't use Mordo's perplex to raise hawkeye's attack. That was the critical moment of the game b/c it forced me to change my strategy. The first two rounds I won despite facing two people that turtled. Both of them were kids, probably no older than 12. The very first thing the first kid I played against passed on his first move. I was annoyed to say the least.

06/26/2005, 09:22
Yeah, it was the same kid. When Andy and several others of us confronted the judge, he knew the situation with the kid and who Amy was when we told him that we knew she had given him the five. His reply was that he couldn't find her paper and therefore couldn't do anything about it. And I am sure that it was the kid because of the joke Justin made about autographs.

Hello Ya'll! Todd here. I'm so glad I didn't stay to find out that kid who cheated all day won fellowship. That kid should have been kicked out for tring to cheat in at least 2 of his matches. And I have not cared too much for the one judge helper who couldn't remember the rules when I played him at Dr.nos and now he's walking around telling people his rulings. But I played against a guy named Chad who actually cheered and laughed out loud on his succesful attack and my missing attack rolls.

But not all was bad yesterday. I got 5 purple rings, one unique and plenty of useful figures. Plus it's always good to hang out with friends and chat about heroclix. Anyone who needs figures after your cases give me a shout and we can trade doubles.

And I'm gone!

Should've done what I do when people do that....just immediately say "I'll pass too". They may try it again, but they'll get the picture eventually that THEY are the first player, so THEY better get moving first.
Never fails and if someone were to be so stubborn to keep passing, I would as well. Just play their game and let them see how "fun" the game is with their own tactics.
Passing in Heroclix is sooooooooo lame.

First off, he wasn't a kid. He was probably in his early 20's which makes it worse. He told everyone he played that there were "special rules" for this tournament which allowed a wildcard to copy ANY team ability. He kept using mystics and batman which was completely lame. Worse thing was, they had a helper judge there that allowed this garbage. He gave the guy "the benefit of the doubt", which anyone with common sense would know this was completely B.S. How do people like that get to judge or help at events?

....What all did that kid do during his games? Inquiring minds would like to know!...
It wouldn't be GA, w/o drama. I got all of my information second hand, but what I heard:

Justin, one of my room mates at my apartment, played the kid who was using his avengers as a different team via the thunderbolts card, but he didn't have the card. Not only was he using it to change their team ablity, but he was doing in the fashion of a wildcard abuse team. There was some confusion, b/c apparently a Judge (not the event's judge) told the kid he could use his avengers TA as a different TA, but the kid thought that meant he could use them like straight out wildcards. Justin informed him of the his mistake after the first time that he tried it, but still lost to the kid.

Amy(Justin's girlfriend) plays the kid in the third round, and he is doing the exact same thing. Specifically, switching his Avengers from mystics TA and Batman TA when applicable. Again, she says that he doesn't have the Thunderbolts card. Now, she doesn't play much so she's not extremely savy on the rules, and she loses the match. She gives the kid a zero for his rating,* and says that he gave her zero as well. She goes and talks to a couple of other people about what happened, eventually telling me what happened.

I had heard what happened in the kid's match with Justin, and having heard what happened in her match, I inform her that she needs to go and change the score that she gave him from a zero to a five before the judge records the scores and starts to set up the pairings for the next match. She goes and does this, then comes back and tells me that the kid had crossed out the zero that he had given her and changed it to a 1 (or maybe it was 5, not exactly sure). Shortly after that, Justin, Amy, and I left, went to go get something to eat (which I needed greatly, b/c between the heat, lack of sleep, and people non-stop complaining and being generally unsportsman like, the lack of food was about to send me into a psychotic frenzy), and headed back to my apartment.

The rating system worked as such: If your opponent was a good person, you gave them nothing. If your opponent was an ***hole, then you gave them a rating 1-5 on much of an ***hole they actually were. The idea behind this was that it would eliminate all of the bad players, and then from those that were left a name was going to be drawn randomly from fellowship. I thought it was a good idea that had more merits than drawbacks. In retrospect, people that were decent people were more than likely not going to give anyone a bad rating whether they deserved it or not; meanwhile, the people that don't deserve fellowship awards would be giving people bad ratings, most the time after saying that they gave them a good rating then going back and changing it (which from what I saw happened quite a bit).

------

As far as the kids turtling, what I did was move my E. Lockjaw carrying R. Shocker, positioning Lockjaw to block as many lines of fire to shocker as possible. When they moved their figures up, either to attack Lockjaw or just move them up, they always moved them into the range of Hawkeye who I left in the starting area. So, what I ended up doing was perplexing Hawkeye's attack to a 12(thanks to Baron Mordo), then doing the transporter move and shoot. 10 speed, 10 range, 10 attack value, and 3 damage isn't too bad. I also usu. had Shocker to follow up on the next turn, and when I needed them R. Tigra and Baron Mordo were more then capable of getting to people and getting them out from the back lines respectively.

I am assuming you are talking about the kid who won fellowship right? well anyway he was not just trying to use thunderbolts without the card he was using spiderman ally also and saying he could wildcard anything even if it was not on his team. I was next to him in his first match and his first opponent allowed it because he was losing badly anyway. In the first match he kept on insisting he could do that so his opponent finally gave in and let him.

As far as his second match goes I know he pulled the same trick even though he was shown to him it was wrong after the first match. His second opponent told him the same thing about wildcards and he apparantly got angry because she was telling him his only strategy would not work. The judge then decided he should be allowed ot do it and the game continued.

They both gave each other zeros for fellowship and walked away from what I heard as she was leaving he crossed out 0 and gave her a 4. When she heard about this she changed the 0 for him to a 5.

Once again he did the same trick in the third round. For fellowship the judge made it so you were only disqualified for fellowship if you had a 4 or a 5 written on it. When he was awarded fellowship he was confronted by multiple people saying how he should have been disqualified. The judge could not find his second opponents sheet so he did not get disqualified.

Well I think that is the whole story.

To be honest, I can't even remember him now. My friend played a guy in the first round of the constructed portion that was making rude comments about his team because he was playing Gladiator (I guess instead of Thor or Black Adam.......DAMN HIM for doing something a LITTLE different! lol)
My friend lost in like five minutes to the other guy's Thor and was really annoyed by the guy.

I ran into two problems in my second round game and it wasn't Black Adam.
Cyborg (who the hell plays Cyborg on a Black Adam team? The guy didn't even have Con Artists to pump up)

Two of my Vipers rolled Crit Misses on their attacks, knocking them off of Poison.....which pretty much ruins the team.

I'm still surprised I lasted as long as I did considering all that though.

Yeah, i remember that quik-e-mart hat. And you had the mary janes on that team, too, right?

I was using KC Flash, and my first three rounds were against the three main 'power' teams: Black Adam, Thor, and Green Lantern, in that order. The hardest of the three was definitely Green Lantern (with trick shot), the guy was smart and picked the *extremely* open outdoor map (i didnt win a single map roll, which sucked hard). But yeah, i dont know how, but i pulled the W against GL out of my butt. Probably the closest game that i can remember having in a long time (or at least the most nerve-wracking game ive had in a long time)

And what'd you think about the sentinel team? The whole concept just sounds too... ridiculous to be feasable, but did you happen to see anything that made it better than what it seems to be?

I dunno, overall great time.

I was really hoping to play a Thor or GL team, as I think my team could've taken either of those, especially the GL team.
I just happened to hit a bump in the road, called my dice, and got a second round exit.

I will say that out of all the different venues I've played at for a Pre-Release, this place was easily the best (and closest too which is another plus).

...

I played a Sentinel team at one of the premiere events, it had a 300 pt. Sentinel, Sentinel Captain, multiples of the R/E/V sentinel trooper, a R & V Intergang medic (they looked close enough), and the Henry Peter Gyrich pog from the map set. Came out to about 490-something points. I did pretty bad my first two rounds, but the third round I played an X-men & Brotherhood heavy team and basically tripled my overall points for the tournament b/c I captured or KO'd all of the x-men and brotherhood figs. with the sentinel. All in all it was a fun team and no one ever really paid attention to the two medics until I outwitted something. 3 passes and you automatically lose.
...maybe i'll "try" it and see if i win fellowship. (right don?)

So that time your team was almost 100 pts over build total wasn't intentional?

I had fun at the Prerelease!

Who cares about the drama; playing and competing is the fun part.

As far as fellowship goes there will never be a good way to reward fellowship to a group of players where the number of participants exceeds 20.

The judging situation could always be better, but it was definately an improvement over my last few trips down there. Tim would at least consult the rules/faq if something was unclear. I heard and had no complaints about his ability as a judge. The issues came from the size of the event, not the judge.

There should be an offer for a judge kit from WizKids for more than 1 judge if there are more than X # of players. (I do not know what X should be but I would say 1 Judge / 25 or 30 players)

I got trounced in 2 of the 3 matches. The one I won was against some Ronnie kid.
He asked how many points my build was (288) and then he passed. His build was 273 and he told me that he was going to pass until I moved. I wiped him out and only lost R Hawkeye & Misty Knight. She did manage to use the Soda Machine to lay down a 4 damage hit on a Hawkeye, but I had to push her to do it.

I pulled no uniques or SR/LE's but managed to leave with 7 uniques from FF, I have nothing left for trade now save a glued to the stand KC Green Lantern.

I saw the Sentinel team, but didn't really see what else was on the team or see how it did.

*hopes he doesn't offend any GA guys, as they're great too*

Great my ###! Nine hours to play a pre release is not great!

The venue wasn't bad and most of the players were really cool, except that one guy who was screaming at that kid. I still feel bad that I didn't punch that guy in the teeth.

Tuesday, July 5, 7.30 pm, Great Escape Comics & Games: Heroes and Villains!

Marvel/DC only. Build a pair of 400 point armies. One is heroic, using only “Hero” TAs such as JLA, Avengers, X-Men, Superman Ally. One is villainous, using only “Villain” TAs such as Sinister Syndicate, Batman Enemy or Brotherhood. Every piece must have a team ability, but you may only use two team abilities per army. You must also bring four bystander tokens which have no TA and no powers.

High roller decides whether to field his Hero army or his Villain Army, chooses the map and moves first. Low roller chooses the starting area. The bystander tokens are used by the Hero player and represent civilians the Heroes must protect. If the Villains KO all four bystanders, then the game ends and the Villains receive full points as though all of their army survived and all the Heroes were KOed.

Special notes: In Contact With Oracle will only be legal if you field Oracle.
Son of Darkseid Superman and Magog are Villains, despite their TA.
Mystics, Morlocks and Power Cosmic TAs are considered Neutral and not legal.
Villains may add one unaligned Thug, Criminal or Henchman to their team to fill the points.
Fantastic Forces is not legal for this tournament.
The DEFEND superpower can only be used to protect ONE civilian! No turtling everybody behind Invisible Woman!
The Poor Teamwork BFC is not legal for this tournament.

400 points: Villains have 4 actions per turn and Heroes 5.

* * *

Sunday, July 10, 2 pm, C.olossal Games: Shaolin Seppuku

Unrestricted. Build a 500 point team using at least six pieces with Blades-Claws-Fangs. All critical hits and rolls of 6 for BCF damage result in instant KO to the piece you are attacking. All critical misses and rolls of 1 for BCF damage result in shame and disgrace and an instant KO to yourself!

No special notes for this scenario.

500 points, 5 actions per turn. There is a $3 entry fee for this event.

You should have punked that dude in the eye. I hate playing against kids sometimes because they do not know the rules but I try to be nice to them. Some of them are really nice and can be fun.

Furthermore, it sounds like that that judge does not know what he is doing. I would have liked to play but I signed up too late. Plus, I have already ordered a case and it is hard for me to justify paying an extra $30 for 3 packs. I did want a purple figure though. I have still never been to a pre-release and would like to go. The problem is that there are people that go that I do not always like seeing. I believe Todd made reference to throwing bottles at his car earlier. Speaking of which, how have you been Todd? It is good to see that you are still alive and well.

I applied for a Wizkids position in the U.K. I did it as a lark but I know I am qualified to do it. I am coureous to see how this pans out.

I'm great D-ROC. Been a while. I think you should come to the next event cause I'll definately be packing beer so I can make it through the day. I'll be sure to have enough for you, Don and me. Justin, let me know if you want in.

Pretty much. I like going to these events even if they're almost an hours drive away. What I hate is the drama I've had the last 2 pre-releases. First one was for Legacy. I had won my 1st round and the guy who I was going to play in the 2nd left before he got his purple ring so I was left with nobody to play so I got a bye. I asked to judge "What happens to my fellowship score?" He say that He can only give me a 9 since it would be unfair to everyone else which in my mind takes me out of fellowship all together. I then grabbed my stuff and left to only hear they called my name for 10 minutes til they finally realized I was gone. This whole thing with a cheating kid winning fellowship made me sick and glad I didn't stick around to find out who won. Who did end up winning the invitation anyway? I like the whole idea behind these events and I'll continue to go to them until I quit the game. I've had more good times then bad times during these events. I see and talk to people I don't hang out with often and have a good time losing to everyone.

I'm happy to see Gacy's Clown posts here. Me and dg69 owe you from DragonCon a couple of years ago. You kicked our teeth in pretty good those 2 games we played in. I'm glad to hear your pre-release had no drama compared to ours.

It sounds like the judges at these events do not have there acts together. I have always meant to go to the pre releases. I can never fit it into my scedules to go all day like I would like to and get crazy. I would have to stay tame and that would be no fun at all.

Justin here to set the record straight about this pre-release kid and his antics.

The kid starts playing and right away moves his vet iron fist into hindering and declares Batman team ability. I asked him how he is doing this and replys thunderbolts feat card. I ask to see the card and he says he dos not need it and that I can ask Brian (i.e. king of the pedophile clixers at PlayerOne) who said that was okay. I told him that you needed the card, telling him to bring Brian over so that I could tell both of them they were wrong. the kid immediately gave up the argument and played the game. The two gentlemen playing to my left witnessed this entire exchange and also assured young Mr. Smith that I was right and that the GL fanboy was wrong.
Coming down to the end of the match I had a near full health E. Human Torch and he had a vet Tigra so no range or flight for him. I had the match won BUT I remembered previous pre-releases where 0-2 players might get something extra so I landed beside tigra rather than soar aroundfor the last 20 minutes and fought it out. So the kid hits a good roll with a 5 BCF roll and Johnny get demolished. I lose. The kid, of course, acts liked he kicked my ###.
This kid knew he was cheating, I'm just the only person that called him on it. This kid was the quintessential little b*$t!@d who used his age to get away with cheating and you could see it in his eyes. Brian later tries to apologize to me that the kid must have overheard a conversation about the card and misinterpreted. That kid knew enough about the game to attempt a mystics, batman wildcard cheese team so I'd say he knew that a feat card must be present to be allowed. Regardless, he was using spidey team to use the "ghost feat" instead of avengers plus retaining free move ability.
I thought this had all passed until Amy comes up and says she just lost to a mystics, batman team at a Marvel event. Sure enough, it's the kid and she didn't realize what he had done but nonetheless his team destroyed hers. I urged her to tell the judges which she did as she was angrier than I was. Fellowship 0's were changed to 5's and so on for the kid whle he changed his own ratings. Someone said that they lost Amy's sheet, but what about mine? That's two 5's that kid had on two sheets and both were lost or overlooked. BS!
Anyway, going 0-2 allowed me to get in a second flight and another purple so it wasn't all bad. I was prepared to write off the kid and move on. Todd calls me the next day to tell me the kid won fellowship. The whole day just has a pall over it now. Judges that play favorites sickens me but nothing will be done about it so we have to move on.
Future events will hopefully become drunken rampages for the Dirty South Warlords (that means you now Todd...bottoms up).

Sorry to beat a dead horse but there is some serious confusion here.

Who is Brian Ross that claims I know him well enough too?

I assumed it was Brian from PlayerOne, but I don't know him at all.

Is there some mystery Brian I'm forgetting about?

You know, forget it, it's not worth the trouble.

Nothing will ever change what happened at the prelease and unfortunately, something like this will happen at every event where too many people show up to be policed by the available judges.

case closed, next issue.

Who is Ghosta? Is that you John? Don and I are definitely in for Champions on friday.

I don't agree that it's inevitable this kind of drama is going to explode at every pre-release or big event. Every other venue in America is able to handle them with a minimum of fuss, so obviously something's going disasterously wrong at the local level with the people drafted to judge them. The two I attended would have gone far more smoothly had the judge simply made the basic decision to have everyone tally Fellowship points *after* they'd played all their opponents. It's criminally simple; you've played four matches, now rank your opponents from 1-4 and tally the numbers.

Of course, not making everyone wait around for twenty minutes while you madly pull your hair out finding everyone's sheets, then announcing you've got all the sheets and are taking a cigarette break would be nice, too.

It's not hard to add a page of tournament details to Gamer's Getaway's web page so people know what to bring and what to expect. You know, dinner break after round four, that sort of thing.

I was the judge at the GA prerelease and I can understand why people are upset but I would like to state a few facts:
1. I only got one complaint about the kid who won fellowship and that was from the young lady that he played against
2. I tried to make fellowship a little less taxing by eliminating all the bad sports
3. even though I went over how fellowship was done several times, I was informed by a number of palyers that they had gotten it mixed up
4. It's my fault and no one elses but somehow a number of player sheets were missing near the end of the night - I did find some but not all
5. Because I didn't have all of my fellowship info due to the missing sheets I included three questionable players in the drawing for fellowship based on having only the one complaint

As for my not knowing the rules, I know the rules pretty well and I brought along all of the latest FAQs and forums rulings to help minimize any errors on my part.
I'm very thankful to all the judges and players who offered their help, it's my understanding that we hosted the largest pre-release in the U.S.
I guess my biggest mistake was in trying my best to be totally fair and impartial, I never set out to make everyone happy but I did set out to do the best overall job that I could do.
As for me knowing who both the kid and Amy were, a player informed me that something improper had happened and pointed them out. I then spoke to both players and the judge who gave the kid an incorrect ruling (he was not the Brian in the GL shirt).
there was not one time that I was given any negative feedback an didn't act on it.

This is the last thing I have to say about this, why didn't more people complain about this kid to the judge? I can see not saying anything after the first match when he stopped doing it after his first attempt, but from what I hear the kid acted like a little #### through all three of his games. Being generally rude, and showing no level sportsmanship. After the third match I think there would have been enough evidence to throw this kid out or at least prevent him from getting fellowship, which brings me to my next point. It is very difficult to give out fellowship sometimes. I like the idea of doing fellowship this way, often times even at events with much smaller turn out it is hard to find a person that really merits fellowship. I've been to plenty of tournaments where no one was particularly nice, or generally fun to play against. Where no one played any teams that were even in the shadow of creative or fun to play against. Tournaments where everyone just seemed to be in a bad mood. The only problem with this is that nice players are always too nice and the ####### players are always too much of an #######.

Also, people who aren't judges should never interject their opinion on a rules situation into games where they aren't asked. Even judges, should avoid just walking by and giving spot judgements unless they are the event judge.

This would be pretty easy for anyone who wanted to play the JLA vs. Avengers. It seems this will give them the most options.

I would play a Hulk/Darkness team. The comic was a pile o/#### but Keown drew it so it looked amazing. You would have to pile a lot onto the hulk but you could also put pounce onto the Darkness who like a few other good pouncers has L/C and blades.

It really depends where in England the job is. Anywhere within 40 miles of London, I'd say go for it if they can meet your salary requirements, because you won't need a car to get anywhere, and you can find affordable starter lodging outside of the city.

Nick. Tsk! The least he coulda done was popped by Champion to give us first dibs on all his LEs and stuff. Didn't he have an Annihilus? :-D

Derek, when they ask for salary, do your best Dr. Evil impression and say, "I'll take the job for (dramatic pause) one million euros." Judge their reaction and adjust accordingly.

Spoke with my English co-worker and he said that, for example, if you make $30K a year in the states 30K Pound will equate to you seriously lowering your life style standards.

What does this mean? $30K equates to, roughly, 40K Pounds. Best guess that is. Good luck.

Hey Vet. I have a question for ya. What are you guys asking for the Charger SRT8?

Pricing is not out on it yet. The 300C SRT-8 is $45000 sticker (good luck getting one for sticker). The Charger version I think will be available around Dec.

The 300 SRT-8 is crazy limited in numbers. We will only get 6 and 5 are already sold. I ordered one in Feb. and it's not built yet!

CaptainMarvel
07/07/2005, 15:59
Damn!

Well I'm not looking to get the 300. I really just want the Charger. I wasn't aware that they were going to be so limited in number. I guess I may just have to settle for the R/T. :(

Thanks for all of the help. I will of course give you the sale when the time comes.

Quick question. If I want a functional hood scoop on the R/T can I have one custom made that way?

One last thing. (sorry) What are the major differences between the R/T, Daytona and the SRT 8?

Thanks again.

VetLogan
07/07/2005, 16:33
R/T has the Hemi.

Daytona will have the Hemi with decals/stripes, road and track package (upgrade wheels and shocks), and you can get the GoManGo! and Top Banana colors (only for the Daytona package).

SRT-8 will have the beefed up Hemi...6.1 liter with Viper-inspired seats, 18" tires, Brimmo brake pads. It's just another beast altogether!

I am not certain I care enough about Iron Man. But, it will probably turn out to be really neat. I am not going to count it out yet.

I think it is great that there will be scenarios for each month. This will allow them to create a story. I am excited.

I'm liking the new maps because it seems like it'll make games more of in your face type of game, considering there will less room to run and hide now. They've basically taken the four rows off of each side of the starting area, which seems pretty freakin' awesome if you ask me.

Ahhh ok. I knew that the R/T had the Hemi but I didn't know that the SRT was going to be so much of an upgrade.

I like the Daytona, I'm just not a huge fan of the paint scheme. I suppose when the time comes I'll come test drive a couple.

Did everyone take a look at the Zoom figure they posted? If not, you can find it in the Icons figure gallery. It's a little much at 99 points, but I think it will be a fun, if sometimes annoying figure. It's unfortunate that Hypersonic speed is incompatible with exploit weakness, and it would be nice if he got flurry (like all the other related characters get), but since his powers don't work the same way I understand why he doesn't. I really like the b/c/f at the end of the dial. The attack value is too low to be really threatening, but you still have the chance of doing massive damage.

d-roc69
07/08/2005, 21:46
If you go and watch the FF movie, do not get your hopes up. I went into the movie thinking that it would be great. I left the theatre with a bad taste in my mouth. I found out earlier that the director of this movie has only directed 2 movies before. These two movies are..........Drum Roll.........Barbershop and Taxi.

WTF

This guy is handed the multi-million dollar FF franchise? I do not get it at all. At what point do people watch Taxi or Barbershop and say, "Hey, I want him to direct my comic movie." This don't seem right to me.

d-roc69

Gacy's Clown
07/09/2005, 09:52
I had no expectations for this movie, so it was pretty good if you ask me. My biggest complaint was Doom. The guy playing him was ok, but once he got the costume and stuff, it just seemed like it was still that same dweeb. Every time I've ever read Doom in a comic, I've always pictured his voice being like Darth Vader's or something....which in this movie, it wasn't even in the ballpark of.
Ben and Johnny were great and funny like you mentioned too.

evilashern
07/09/2005, 10:14
Barbershop! I couldn't remember the name of the other movie that the FF director did. I thought that the choice for him was something of a head scratcher as well.

Also, I'm not too impressed with the dials of the Icons starter.

d-roc69
07/09/2005, 15:30
The icon figures are ok. There is nothing really different about them. The only figure that I really liked was the batman that you could use pounce on for 40 something points. Other than that I do not care.

The stuff with Doom did not bother me so much. I liked the way the actor played him. The story in general I thought was bad.

Tuesday, July 12, 7.30 pm: Villains United

Marvel/DC only. Build a 600 point team of villains. All pieces must have a TA, with exceptions noted below. No character with a heroic or neutral TA (X-Men, JLA, Avengers, Mystics, Morlock, etc) on any of its versions is legal. (Examples include Maxima, Magneto, Magog, Scarlet Witch, Son of Darkseid Superman or Zatanna. None of these are legal.)

Round three will be a Battle Royale match with assigned targets for assassination – bring several extra pieces, as players may earn the chance to modify their army for round three.

Special notes:
*In Contact With Oracle may be played at double the cost, because villains are in contact with Calculator, not Oracle, and he charges more.
*Fantastic Forces villains are legal for this tournament.
*Despite the lack of TA, Deathstroke and Cheshire are legal for this tournament.
*Despite the JSA TA on his Exp version, Black Adam is legal for this tournament as R / V or LE.
*Villains may add one unaligned Thug, Criminal or Henchman to their team to fill the points.

600 points: 4 actions per turn.

* * *

Tuesday, July 19, 7.30 pm: Legion of Losers!

Unrestricted. Build a 500 point team using no more than ten pieces. Only one generic is allowed. You want to build the worst possible team, as you will pass this team to your opponent to play against you, and you will play with the Losers your opponent has constructed. So break out those Toads and Changelings and brush the dust off the Blob – it’s Loser Time!

Special notes: No Feats are legal for this tournament.
The Ordinary Day BFC is not legal for this tournament.

500 points: 5 actions per turn.

Uniques- Arnim Zola, Prof. X, Spiderman, Volcana, Mad Thinker, Orphan, Dr. Doom, and Nimrod

SR's-Ben Grimm, Cain Marco, Kurt Wagner, and Norman Osborne

I got 3 complete sets of battlefield condition cards + 2 complete sets of pogs + 2 complete sets of feat cards and 2 extra nova blast cards.

I got most of the REV sets. The only figure that I did not get that I wanted was the vet. Dr. Stange. But I have read about people who did not get most of the Fantastic Four or Namor figures. I got REV sets of all these figures plus I have extra vet versions of Namor, Thing, and Invisible Woman.

Yes, I would love to live abroad. I would do it just to do it. Liza had already started looking for jobs over there as well. We were pretty excited and I thought that I would get the position. So, I guess we just have to suck it up and deal with fatties in chain mail and moronic goth kids for another year, and hope that Wizard will go through with the idea, just at a different time so there won't be the backlash there is right now, so I won't have to go to another Dragon Con again.

In case you're wondering, I can't friggin' stand Dragon Con. But last year Ellis was there, and the year before that Sterenko, so what are ya gunna do?

I am pretty certain that the tourney will be at the regular time. I am sure that Don has posted the scenario. Scroll back a few posts and see if you can find it.

Dragon-Con is fun but I am not as much of a Sci-fi fan as a comic fan. I have never been to a actual comic convention and think it would be fun.

I think that TN might have the best team in the SEC this year. I say that sort of apprehensively because the 2 quarterbacks are not that great. But, the 2 hoss running backs are. I also think that Alabama will have a good team this year as well. I would not be suprised if these are the two teams in the SEC Championship if Crowle can stay healthy. I hate to say that Alabama will have a good team because I am an Auburn fan but I think we will lose to them this year.

Well if you noticed for a bunch of the sets like MM and FF for example over half of the figures are not rated except for the ones people gave 5's. Thats why all of these crappier sets are getting better ratings. Nobody wants to rate the junky figures. BTW I agree that Unleashed is the best set followed by Ultimates.

I wish that he could use quake with HSS. But, I do not think he can. It has been so long since I checked. But, yes the Robin looks great. I also really liked the sculpt for the Joker figure. Yeah, I made it that far, but alas my time came in the last game. I didn't play particularly smart and missed almost every attack I made. Oddly enough, the guy I played in the championship game was my roommate there and neither of us knew each other was playing Lockjaw teams (which were the only two in the tourney on day two). You know, I've been reasonably content to lurk on these fair forums of late, as my enthusiasm for the game has ebbed, but those anime nutballs on the blisterpack rumor thread really forced the issue.

I'd hate for an idea I pestered Brother Mags about for years to finally be used for Teenage Freaking Ninja Turtles. NO, you use it for Hellboy, and Danger Girl, and Savage Dragon, and Grendel, and 2000 AD, and City of Heroes. Not Turtles and not Mega Man and not Pokemon and not Dragon Ball. hmmm, let's look at this objectively:

TMNT - every figure would have Steath or Flurry, along with BCF and CCE

Mega Man - RCE and Toughness on pretty much every figure

Dragon Ball - All figures are 200+, can fly, and do massive damage

Hmmm, so a set full of clix with identical powers? Sounds like Indy to me! :)

Just kidding, I agree with ya , Grant. And I didn't even take a look at Pokemon since the idea is so completely ridiculous.

Hey Gacy what was your team? Time to kill the cat!
Let me try to think of it here real quick...umm:
Rke. Lockjaw x3 w/DT
Exp. Lockjaw w/DT
Rke. Viper w/AP
Exp. Viper x2 w/AP
Rke. Black Panther
Vet. Stan Lee (Paramedic)
299

I was talking it over with Groovy later on that night and think that maybe dropping Black Panther and making the Exp. LJ a Rk, then adding ICWO on all three Vipers would've been a better idea (I think it came out to 300 even that way). Having the Outwit handy on all of the upclose figs (Viper) would've helped her from getting her MM Outwitted, which is what happened twice in that final game. But in all honesty, had I just played a tad smarter and actually hit my attacks (I was missing 12 and 13 defenses on his LJs), I think the outcome would've been different even with the team I had.:)

d-roc69
08/10/2005, 14:37
What about a Whitney Frost? She still has poison but also has the outwit as well. What did you do for a strategy? Was it to base the entire team and try to poison them to death. If so I think that is great. I have seen 2 or 3 poison teams in my time and think that they are really fun to watch. In the games that I watched they either demolished the team they were playing or were beaten very handidly.
The team sounds fun. I am sure it looked neat with all the Lockjaws lined up.

I am also thinking about buying a game system. What would everyone advise. I was thinking about getting a gamecube actually. I can get one for $99 plus the Zelda game or for $129 with Zelda or Metroid. I would just have to buy a memory card.
Or I coud get an X-box which does not have a game but I have some games for it and it has a memory card built into it.
Or I can wait to get the X-box 360 or a PS3.

What do you guys think. I do not play that many video games which is why I was thinking about getting the Game-Cube.

Gacy's Clown
08/10/2005, 14:59
I believe Whitney Frost is retired, so that may be why she wasn't picked. But, yeah, the general idea is to surround the opposing team with the Poison and they either have to break away, attack (which will just get MM off onto the Lockjaws), or take it in the butt.
In one game, I KOed a Vet. FF Hawkeye on Rd. 2.
In another, U Black Queen was gone by Rd. 3.
In another, Amazo was gone within five rounds.

If I go first, I can have all the Vipers in my opponents starting area on my first turn. I had two games where my opponent never even moved their figures from where they started from.
This team is very beatable, but I saw people making too many mistakes when dealing with it, which resulted in making things easier for me.
I'm sure this type of team is gonna show up a lot more now that two of them (the only two in the tourney) made it to the finals, so I'm not sure if I'm gonna play it much at all now. I saw what it can do and it did exactly what I invisioned it would do and that's go take a big doggy #### on the other team.
