View Full Version : n00b needs help
Alright, so I'm completely new to the game and I played one of my friends with this team and got my ### handed to me.
Ultimates:
U Thor
V Black Widow
E Mysterio
V Sentinel Trooper
So, yeah, I still need help making a decent 300 pt team.
Here's what I have to work with:
Marvel Universe:
E Spiderman
E Wasp
E Wolverine
E Sabretooth
E Green Goblin
E Elektra
E Vulture
V Con Artist
Ultimates:
U Thor
U Hulk
V Anaconda
V Captain America
V Black Widow
V Sentinel Trooper
V Ghost Rider
E/V Storm
E Doc Ock
E Callisto
E Sidewinder
R/E Electro
R/E Mysterio
R Cyclops
R Morlock
R Lizard
R Hellfire Guard
DC Unleashed:
V Chameleon
V Doctor Fate
R Scarecrow
R Kobra Fanatic
Slapping a figure who takes up over half your points on your team is too much. He is an instant target for outwitting his defense and then your friend will spend the round pounding him down to death. When Thor is gone so is your team.
V-Captain America 103
E-Wolverine 61
V-Black Widow 59
E-Sabretooth 51
V-Con Artist 16
R/E-Paramedic 8/10

I have successfully played Thor U in a 300 point game (several actually and undefeated) but wouldn't try it in a tournament (unless i didn't care about the LE and was just in it for fun).
Thor U 186 (Ultimates)
Deathstroke E 50 (Stealth, Outwit, Willpower, Energy Explosion, Regen (on his last click), and respectable stats)
Paramedic V 12
Destiny R 20 (Brotherhood) (mostly for the medic's benefit)
2 HDC Trooper R 15 (PD) (because they have Willpower)
I'd highly recommend not trying to use anyone who costs more than 100 points in a 300 point game while you're still learning. Once you become a veteran player give it a shot to prove how good you are. :)
Try Rubicon's team and see if that doesn't work a lot better. That Black Widow is nasty little number for the points. I've currently got her teamed with Daniel Ketch LE, Deathstroke E, and Marvel Girl R.
Here's the basics:
1) You want to have at least 2 figs for every 100 points of build (and/or Willpower like on Black Widow) so you don't have to skip Actions. Skipping Actions is like giving your opponent extra Actions.
2) Make sure you have good ranged and melee attackers
3) Support is your friend
4) Have Outwit and/or figs with base damage of at least 3 to deal with Toughness, Invulnerability, and Impervious
5) Probability Control is your friend
6) In a 300 you generally want at least 1-2 primary attackers and 1-2 secondary attackers.
Other helpful abilities
1) Incapacitate (like on the fair Widow) is great for dealing with figures like Thor
2) Energy Explosion helps deal with weenie rushes and those highly annoying Con Artists
3) Flyers and Telekinesis make for speedier travel
4) X-ray vision (Ultimates and Superman Ally Team Abilities) (umm... Black Widow again... can anybody guess who my fav fig is in Ultimates ):)
So there's Frank's crash course in HC team building.
My last bit of advice: Play as often as you can with as many different people as you can. Learn from them.
Welcome to HeroClix and happy gaming.
Thanks for the advice guys, I think this will help alot.
