Movie Battles: Tournament Of Champions HW Division: Round 3, Match 4

All Hells breaking loose, as Hellboy and Spawn battle it out in a not so evenly matched Duel of the Darned.....cant say, well you know, here. Unfortunately for Spawn, Hellboy seems to be a specialist in dealing with such supernatural characters, and is basically beating the tar out of him, with his own head. Hellboy advances, but which of these next and FINAL two can say the same?

This is the FINAL MATCH of Round 3 all, so we all have about a day and a half to make our final arguments and cast our last votes for ANY Round 3 match before Round 4, the Semi Finals, begins. So if you havent done so, youve still got some time left......but not much.

Now allow me to present your LAST BATTLE in Round 3 of this Heavy Weight Division of the Movie Tournament Of Champions:

Airport - Vast open network of runways with only the occasional sign or tower for cover. Robust terminal in the middle with planes, baggage haulers, fuel tanks etc. (inspired by Die Hard)

They actually did this in a Stars Wars comic, where Vader comes a cross a cloning facility with a Maul clone inside. Maul was much faster and more agile, but Vader was stronger with the Dark Side. Lashing out with all his rage and hatred, Vader crushed the copy of his predecessor.

The fight ended with a really great quote, that, unfortunately, I can't quite remember. So maybe it wasn't that great after all?

Well, i think that maul is definately a better swordsman, the vader we see fighting is old and not very agile. But vader is much stronger in the force than maul is. I think maul has enough defenses agaisnt the force to make turn this into a lightsabre battle, much like yoda/dooku. And i personally think that maul can beat vader in an actual fight.

Now, vader is still going to end up winning this but im gonna put in my vote for Maul.

Vader in the comic being used earlier did not come across a clone facility, he was sent to a planet by his master to check things out since it was rumored rebels were on the planet. Vader and his men were searching when all his men were killed off with the last one thinking it was Vader killing him. He entered a chamber or something and came across "Sith Wizards" and then had to fight Maul who they brought back from the dead. They fought a great looking match and finally ended up fighting surrounded by lava. When it seems like Maul was going to win, Vader stabbed through himself to kill Maul. That is where he said he hated himslef more then anything because during the whole fight Maul called him a Jedi over and over, and told him how to be a real Sith and stop being a Jedi.
Maul control over the Force is almost the same as Vader but Vader hold the edge. During the fight Maul used it to take Vader ground away from him (if you understand you know how fighting works) The whoel Force thing between the two was almost cancelled out and pure lightsaber action was taken. Maul had some edge with the lightsaber and could of won it. Vader had experience and in the end his own body couldn't get in the way of living.
Vader is the ultimate Sith. Nothing in the Star Wars Univerise but his son could beat him, and nothing here will beat him.

Lets see here Darth Maul managed to kill one jedi then was killed by his student. Darth Vader managed to kill the entire jedi council alongside Palpatine and ushered in a new order in the galaxy, with himself as it's second in command. I think it is worth noteing that Lucas does not consider comic books Star Wars "canon", or so I've been told by a source on Star wars that I trust implicitly, make of that what you will.

Darth Vader was one of the most scary villians created in cinema.

Verse Darth Maul one of the coolest looking villians, that was able to throw modern cinema magic do really awesome things.

In the end I have to give this battle to Darth Vader. We saw him do much more incredible and evil things then Darth Maul ever did.

1)Block laser fire with his hands. I am not sure how he even did that.
2)Chock people with the force.
3)TK many large objects at a time throwing them, and still fighting at the same time.
4)Standing up to full lightning blasts from the Emperor at point blank range.

The only think Darth Maul has on that is taking on two Jedi at once.

Darth Vader is the champion in this battle. Darth Vader is still the ultimate Jedi evil and will always be.

Darth Vader was one of the greatest sith lords ever. He destroyed a very powerful Obi-won like he was nothing. Maul lost to Obi when he was still an apprentice.

Wow...Vader for the win. Force over swordsplay.

Maul is the better swordsman and more agile. but Vader has better control over the force. Force over swordsplay.

Plus, Vader is just scary in that black suit.

I also have to realize that the movies were made decades apart and graphics and fight scenes have gotten more elaborate and better since the early 80's. So if Vader/Luke scene in cloud City or Vader/Kenobi in the Death Star was made today, it would probably have a lot of jumping around and twists and turns.

I don't want to sound like a sheep here, but Vader for the win. I just cannot see Vader taking out Maul, unless someone tells me how. So...taking suggestions on people who know more about the characters then the average joe who has seen the movie.

I see Vader winning this tournament and being a force (ha ha..no pun intended) to reckon with in the SHW, especially if he gets a good first round pull.

But I also see the T-1000 being the only thing that can take Vader out. Ooh, the round 4 match ups will be key.

Gran Moff Tarkin did in fact "out rank" Vader in A New Hope. Tarkin was the author of the Doctrine of Fear, and the Death Star was his project.

Grand Moff Tarkin was definately higher ranked than Vader in ANH, its very clear to see this. Though from ESB onward, which was about 3 or 4 years past ANH, Vader was second in command of the Empire.

Ouch, while I thought Vader would win, I also thought it would alittle closer than this. :)

No new matches today, least this morning anyway, as I out this up earlier than normal, and we still have one VERY close match up to decide on, which of course is the Dracula v Mr Book fight.

DTM: This one was no contest. Everyone here grew up with the understanding Darth Vader was Evil. Darth Maul has nothing compared to what Vader has in our memory.

I really liked how this round of the tournament played out. As much as I wish T-REX would have advanced, Spawn advancing helped create this great round.

Match 1 was the warm up battle with two very popular and very powerful combatants. It got everyone excited about the next possible matchups.

Match 2 was the two battle of the two quirks. They are powerful characters, but aren't favorites to win anything. The Battle for them was great because it made sure one of them made it to the next round.

Match 3 The Battle of the demons. This was the best matchup. Sure the stomping was obvious. Partially, because of popularity, but seeing that these two fought eachother instead of the Jedi or someone else just made the tournament much cooler.

Match 4: The battle of the feared. Two villians fight it out to see who is to be feared most. A great battle that allowed for a Jedi/Sith to be taken out earlier in the tournament, and leave spots open for the more diverse characters.

For the next round we will definately have:

Darth Vader
HellBoy
T-1000

with the outcast still not decided. This tournament can go anyway.

I am hoping for a

T-1000, Darth Vader battle then

Hellboy verse whoever.

Followed by the obvious finale: Hellboy vs. Darth Vader.

Well, now, there is a problem with that.

The post-Zahn novels are all considered canon. Many of the events from the comics (especially Dark Empire and the X-Wing series) are included as history of the novels, and are therefore canonical.

I know this isn't gonna help, but Maul.

I bring it all down to the book "Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter", because he's insane in it. I mean, not "insane", but the ways he uses the force are insane. He uses it to go faster than a speeder bike.

I mean, that takes it for me. He uses the force in ways I had never even thought of. He's the biggest force to reckon with in this tourney, IMO.

I mean, I grew up on Vader too, but Maul just seems to have more power IMO. Plus the dual lightsabers. This just shows how some people think Vader wins easily, while others like me think Maul would take it easily. Oh well, I tried Maul!!!!

Keep in mind that even when lightsaber dueling, a Jedi or Sith uses the Force. Taking away Force from both would not only take away most of Vaders powers, but most of Mauls lightsaber skills as well. The reason they can battle so effectively with just a lightsaber is the Force guides them, shows them where the next attack will be, where to strike and where to block, etc.

Actually DTM since this match is over please switch my vote to the T-REX.

The way I see it. He is offered the same Spawn summoning as Simmons was because obviously T-Rex has raging fans in this tournament, and perhaps the whole world. Hell is trying to get a make over for popularity but still do evil. T-Rex comes back and with his new Cloak, and Chains he is able to kill both Vader and Maul.

So please calculate one vote for T-Rex in the totals of this match.
