I only played X-Men Legends.
I know the following games sold many copies.

Red Dead Revolver - This games is my favorite title from this year. Great gameplay, some new takes (getting to fight from horseback), and a great tribute to Spagetti Westerns everywhere.
Halo 2 was good, but short
Call of Duty is probably my pick for best PC title of the year (it and it's expansion). Awesome immersion factor, and it's not just you vs the world. I played Day of Defeat for a long time, and CoD's MP is just better (provided it's not locking up, which it does a lot on my new PC).
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 takes this with ease. (at least for me) It had a killer story and even tho ive beat it three times already all i can think about is what im gonna do different this time.
Best PC title would be Warhammer 40k Dawn of War. Killer game and should be the model which all other RTS should be modeled after.

gonna be a tough year. keep in mind though, i only play PC games...

Next year: Resident Evil 4 or Zelda.
This year: what the hell, Halo 2.

meh, Halflife 2 requires an internet connection to download the game, and then Steam takes over your system. That right there disqualifies it.

In no particular order:
City of Heroes
X-Men Legends
Halo 2
GTA
Burnout 3: Takedown
My personal favs:
Sly 2: Band of Thieves
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
Ratchet and Clank: Up your Arsenal
Spider-Man 2
Prof. Aragorn

Spider-man 2
It's got a Grand Theft Auto like feeling to it, you can literally lose yourself in the city just webswinging and fighting hoods. The boss battles (like the one with Shocker) are excellent. The attacks you can do, the way they designed the dodge and webswinging is awesome.
Sure, with San Andreas you can beat on hookers and kill people, but Spider-man could kick all of that and then some. He regularly stops car jackings and gang wars and Black Cat and Mary Jane are better than any hooker-even if Jenna Jameson voiced her.
Try playing Halo 2 for the end of time-you'll eventually achieve 100 percent multiple times, with Spider-man 2, it's going to take you much longer to achieve that 100 percent completion.
That and Bruce Campbell rules.

Half-life 2 is the victor. Halo 2 does well. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within is also excellent.

Gotta go Halo 2 and not because of the game but because the Multiplayer is the best yet and there will be downloads for later in the year.
I would also like to mention a game for the old school fans.
Megaman Anniversary was one of the best games to come out this year. It has all of the original games from NES along with some from the Super. Pack that in with better music quality and a vs. mode and you have on bad ### old school game. I just thought it deserved a mention.

I can't agree with this enough. This game was sickly fun.
My pick is Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. If you like espionage then this is your game. If not stay away.
By the way, tune to 148.39 for some HEALING RADIO.

Half life 2 hands down best game Ive ever played - great story, lots of different styles of game play, from driveing boats, vehicles, comanding 2 different types of squads, stealth missions, to inddor/outdoor missions
Burnout 3 would have to be the best fun game Ive played this year
Halo 2 and doom 3 were pretty good, but I think it had a bit much hype and the games was short
Red dead was a pretty fun game as well
Xmen legends was ok, but not in my top 10, too many ai flaws, and no replay value, not too mention playing with more then 2 players was horible - way too easy to get a player stuck

KOTOR 2 and X Men Legends were big personal faves.
Gotta give the guilty pleasure nod to The Guy Game....if you don't know, rent it at Blockbuster.....:devious:
Bloodrayne 2 had some seriously cool moves, plus there is nothing wrong with a half naked vampire cuttin people up in slow motion. There is ALOT of interactivity in this one....
Rome Total War has been my fav this year...

But why? The first was horribly boring. I mean, I can't get all excited when my animal makes potty in my villiage field. I'm sorry, potty jokes just aren't funny now that I'm not 5 anymore.

You are the one that just made a potty joke pal. And thats all well and good that you thought the first was boring...what have you I guess.
This one however (B&W2) has armies, cities, towers, walls, the land will truly morph to reflect if you are good and evil, epic spells, earthquakes...volcanoes...stuff that permenately changes the land. A extremely good story, (read a sample of the script at Game Spy)
Armies can have upwards of 2,000 men. AND the graphics...wonderful stuff. www.planetblackandwhite.com
Lots of new features...
