I've decided to start using a 10 point rating system as a 5 point seemed to restrictive.

so for examples:

1 - Total Carp. Um... uh....
5 - Average. Current JLA stuff
10 - Must buy. Kingdom Come

So:

Space Ghost #4 - Rated 7 - Jan and Jayce! What next the monkey??!?! Heh, I liked it. I liked that SG realizes there is more to life than revenge. His archfoe joins up with Zorak as they plan to go kill SG! Love the art.

Catwoman #40 - Rated 3 - Only thing going for this is the art and thats cause I still have Gulacy flashbacks. So Selina like... tricks the Nickle guy... and shoots nails in him and then like cuts off his arm witha chainsaw... and then like.. his bosses roll over for the cops and give them tohim. It was so stupid! I want this writer gone! He is killing this book.

Catwoman: When in Rome #4 - Rated 10 - Loeb and Sale always strike gold together! Selina faces and bests Cheetah (barely). She later returns to her hotel room where Batman waits! He tells her he loves and they kiss.... it's really Riddler... Selina is going to freak when she regains her senses..

Teen Titans #21 - Rated 9 - I LIKE MIA! She pretty much gives internal thoughts to her reactions to her new team mates. Dr. Light then declares he has Green Arrow and wants the Titans to come face him! So off they go! Mia warns the team that if she gets wounded to not help her... I'm glad that the writer is going to handle the HIV thing.

Birds of Prey #79 - Rated 8 - Dinah has a chat with Bruce and then the girls go off to face Thorne in Metropolis, who has been killing organized crime members. Turns out she hasn't been (well not the latest one) but she runs from the BoP girls only to get shot by police! Good read. BoP is always good! Gail did an old mini-series a few months back about the character named Rose (and Thorne). Should pick that up as well...

Green Lantern: Rebirth #4 - Rated 8 - Hey Hal is back! Ollie got to use the GL ring but it makes no sense for it to drain him. If it was going to be so useless to him then why does he even have it? He mentions in the GA book that Hal gave it to him JUST IN CASE.. Eh. Anyways, Hal is back. The Essense of Fear thing inhabits the Guardian guy. And Sinistro is bus stomping butt. But SO WHAT!!! GUESS WHO SHOWS UP!!! KARA!!! SUPERGIRL! The art sucks. Made Kara look like carp.

JLA: ICBINTJL #1 - Rated 10 - Buy this. And buy the back issues of FKATJL. It's hard seeing Sue again. I read her scenes and just think... poor Sue. Stupid ID Crisis. The parts with Mary Marvel energized on coffee is hilarious! Her and Bea are a great team just like Blue and Gold! Just go buy it I'm not gonna ruin it for you.

Once again, check out MANHUNTER!!!!!!! Good every month. At least buy one and give it a rating for those who read your thread. 8/10 this week with superb scummy lawyers trying to make Superman look bad in court!!!! And Hawkman on the stand..........GOOD STUFF!

I thought that they handled Ollie and the ring as well as they could have. I have been dreading seeing some super-Ollie wipping out massive bow constructs for a while now, but Johns managed to make it work. Ollie had one hell of a time making it work, and it was only good for one shot, but it still got him out of a tight situation.

Look in Ollie's eye in the panel right before he shot the construct arrow. You can see something interesting in his eye.

Human Target #19 - As the series heads into it's final arc, things start to really fall apart for Chance. His "wife" is close to leaving him, he's getting more enjoyment out of his fake lives than his real one and unbeknownst to him, Tom McFadden's back, and not only is he less stable than ever, he's grown deeply Psychotic to boot! THe best series hands down DC/Vertigo has put out in a long time.

Green Lantern: Rebirth #4 - I felt the series lost a bit of steam with this issue, which is funny because it's the one with the most "action" so far. Sinestro plays cat and mouse with Ollie and Kyle. Meanwhile Hal/Parrallax/Spectre being sorts out it's internal differences, while spanking Ganthet, the Green Lantern Corps, the JLA, The JSA and the Titans all at once. SOunds cool, but the actual battle scenes didn't engage me much and the visual effects showing the three sides of Hal were really sloppy and muddled. I did like the description of what the Yellow Weakness feels like though.

Adventures of Superman #637 - Rated 7 - Better than average issue. Lex knew Superman's identity (no secret there), but he also shared it with Pete Ross and pointed out that Lana had known it for years but hadn't shared with him. This means that Lex might still know that Clark is Superman, bringing together even more threads from the Identity Crisis aftermath.

Lois figures out that she was specifically targetted by the sniper to end the war in ... well, wherever it was, and that whoever shot her wasn't a U.S. or enemy sniper.

Ruin attacks 'the Shack' and tries to kill Jimmy Olsen and the MCU. Superman intervenes and nearly discover's Ruin's identity.

Pete Ross shows up and asks Clark to ask Lana to reconsider asking for a divorce, but doesn't reveal that he knows who Clark is when he takes his glasses off. And, Lois tells Clark that she thinks they should have a baby.

Really, overall, I thought it was a good story. Rucka's gotten a lot more interesting now that he's got Identity Crisis stuff to play off of, and I'm actually finding myself interested to see where this story goes.

A lot of people don't give the Superman books a chance because they don't find the 'unbeatable guy' to be an interesting character, but I'd definitely recommend picking up the last year or so of Adventures. It's still not quite as good as Flash when it comes to having interesting characters and plots that aren't just about beating the villain of the month, but it's really starting to get there.

I love the "unbeatable guy" aspect but I have avoided Superman comics for a long time. I like Rucka elsewhere, though. What's a good jumping-on point?

Rucka's start on Adventures is in Issue #627. And, if you want to understand everything that's going on with Ruin, the Replikons, and why Clark's not a 'top reporter' anymore, it's really the best place to start.

It's right after the Godfall story arc that Joe Kelly and Michael Turner put together, which also wasn't altogether bad and set up the stuff with Preus that Austen's been using over in Action Comics.

I picked up GL-Rebirth, Teen Titans, and Jl-Classified.
GL-Rebirth: I liked the last page with Hal.
Teen Titans: I agree, Mia's internal thoughts are very interesting. It looks like Dr Light is about to go on a serious butt whomping tear.
JL-Classified: (sniff) yeah it was sad to see Sue but sometimes I think the Bickering is over the top..... now I have to go read the old comics and see if there was this much bickering..... :ermm:

Replikon any relation to the one-shot badguy from Green Lantern/Green Arrow?

Am I the only one who finds it silly that in a universe where folks come back from the dead on a regular basis and have powers/technology that can turn planets into Happy Meals you have a story where the heroes worry about getting infected with HIV?

 I've pondered this, as well.

I'd have to agree, it did feel like Rebirth lost a little of the steam here. Maybe just because it had so much buildup to Hal's return but it came off as, I don't know, too simple or easy?

Well, there's been at least one thread (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=122439) that asked that same question...

JLA Classified #4 was ok, and I too believe they are bickering way more than they used to. Its an ok start to the arc which just because of Beetle and Booster promises to be just as good as the last one.

As for Adventures of Superman, I thought Pete knew about Clark being Superman a long time ago, didnt he find out in that miniseries were Brainiac was using Doomsday and kidnapped Lana's and Pete's son?

At any rate this is the best Superman arc going on right now, its tied into IC more than any of the other titles have. I think its the best because Luthor is behind all the carp Supes is going through in this current arc so far. That and Mtylplx (sp?) is showing up to and they are handling him pretty well. The upcoming superbaby story looks good.
