I played Warhammer for about 6 years and the it became to big of a money vortex but the games workshop mainpage has some googlinks to the old back catalouges if youi wanna see old figures. What armies you gonna play?

Gamesworkshop.com has a forum for everything there.

Before Hero Klix, I use to play it all the time. I spent a good $2000 in it but now all my money goes to Hero Klix.

I have a nice 6K Skaven army, 3k Vampire Army, 2.5k Orc and Dark Elf army.

My Skaven had the hardest time against 5th edition Brets. I know they changed some things in 6th edition. I stopped playing just as Brets finally came out in 6th edition. So I have no idea how they are now.

I don't have an idea either, but I like their looks.
My first choice would have been Wood Elves, but it seems like they are getting axed...

I had a group of friends that played way way back in 3rd edition. Skaven army was the only army that was taken. Otherwise I would of took Wood Elves. I thought they were cool because they had guys that could MORPH into animals. Unfortunately they took it out.

Nearly ten years ago I bought my first Warhammer stuff: a box of Wood Elf Archers and a their general. I gave up a wekk later because I thought I couldn't paint. Last year I started Blood Bowl and found out, that I'm not all that bad at painting, so I'll give it a go again.

Oh, and I just bought a HUGE lot of random blisters (73 for around $300).
Depending on what I get I'll decide if I'll start a second army right away.

I was a diehard Warhammer player for about 10 years. I did the Grand Tournament circuit, posted heavily on the sites. I acrued a couple of Players Choice Awards, Sportsmanship Trophies, and the a handful of coveted Golden Demons.

But I gave it all up about a year ago. Most third party GW boards are the opposite of the Realms as the majority of players truly hate GW but love the game.

I played High Elves for a while and had about a 8 or 9 K army never lost a game with em bu then again i never played at a tournament. Went to games day a few times and that wasa blast.

I've got a fully painted 3000pt. 6th-edition Orc army (no stinkin' Gobbos here, man) and a pretty much unopened 2,500pt. 6th-edition Skaven army sitting in my basement.

There's also a lot of assorted other stuff there. Some High Elves, some Empire, some Dwarves, a 3,000pt. 5th edition Lizardmen army, some 5th edition Bretonnians, some Mordheim stuff ...

I was big into Warhammer Fantasy (before I got into 'Clix) but I haven't actually played it since 6th edition came out. Now, my figures all just sit there an look pretty. I think it makes the Orcs sad.

If you're looking for a quick Warhammer fix, pick up Dawn of War, the 40K PC game that came out at the end of last year. There's an expansion scheduled for fall release (Imperial Guard are to be added as the fifth race). The campaign mode is a hoot, it's a graphically rich game that isn't a system pig, and the skirmish mode AI is brutal. There are already a bunch of great mods for it, too.

Nah, I really don't like 40K. And I decided not to play computer games any more. Probably couldn't play anything new on my old machine anyway.

nah, emp, your not supposed to, but im sure most people would allow it, Warhammer isnt really too serious a game anyways, Ive been playng for 3 years, and i dont think ive ever been #####ed at for using a judge Death as a captain fro my 40k army, or various mage knight figs for my Vampire Counts.

It wouldn't be a problem just to put some imperial knights on my bretonnian force, I guess, although I have no clue who to play against at this point.
But I thought there'd probably be an official rule on allies or mercenaries or something.

Haven't played in a while but as I recall, they stopped allowing
normal allies, and now you can only choose some of the Dogs
of War mercenaries.
Of course, like I said, not played in a while, so could be totally wrong.

I knew this wasn't a good idea. I've already spent 400$ on this before I even figured out who to play against.
And that's not counting the set of paints and the random lot of blisters...

It's also amazing that a couple of years ago I worried about having spent $400 on Warhammer. I don't even want to think about by which factor that number has increased. That way lies madness.

LONG LONG have I waited for the new ssskaven book. I got to refigure out how many points of ssskaven I have. Before the book I had about6500 points. That was without my 2 doomwheels and one Verminlord.

I haven't had the book in my hands so far, but I ordered it and I hope to get it next week.

i have 40k stuff, but just shared 2 starters with someone :-s but from what i hear, if Clixs is plastic crack, warhammer is black tar heroin...i have only played once also and wasn't with my space marines -_-;

Its a fun, although complicated, game. I think the only real bad part of the game is you have to paint the minatures (I suck at painting). I just went through the new skaven list and now I have 5,500 points. Compared to the 6,000 I use to have.
