Why is that Marvel fans ##### and complain about every movie Marvel makes. Kingpin black so it sucked. Spider-Man's webs are organic so it sucked. Rogue was different so X-Men sucked. Hulks origin was different so Hulk sucked. Blade's powers were completely different so Blade sucked. Doom's origin is different so FF will #### etc..... (I know not everyone is like this or believes them all, but I've seen all these statements)

BUT I have no heard one DC fan ##### or complain about the new Batman, Ra's origin and race being different. Batman's origin being different. And the adding of a new love interest for Wayne.

Why do Marvel fans ##### and complain about every little change in thte movies while DC fans just accept them?

The only thing that I have complained about with Marvel movies were these:

1) Doctor Doom should be EXACTLY like who he is in the 616 Marvel U. He is DOCTOR DOOM and deserves that respect. It would not be the same otherwise.

2) The Hulk's dad should not have developed super powers as he did in the movie. This is me being a faithful Fanboy to Peter David and his writings of the Hulk.

Except for those two things I have enjoyed every Marvel movie so far. Although, I have yet to see Elektra.

As far as DC Comics movies:

I really haven't seen any I like. Except the first Batman movie. But, honestly, that should have just been titled: The Joker.

DC Comics seems to do lousy representations of their characters on the Big Screen. And I REALLY wish it were otherwise because I like DC and Marvel both pretty equally.

When it comes to cartoons, though, DC Comics can't be beat. The closest Marvel ever came to good 'toons was the 1960's versions of their icons.

I don't count Catwoman cause that wasn't even a comic book movie, that just shared a name.

But like I said, I think they have just Ra's just as much as Doom (who lets be honest, has a great origin but it would take another 2 hour movie to tell it) but no one is saying a word, only hte marvel fans are complaining.

In the books hes Egyption, almost immortal and speaks english. In the movie he'll be Japanese, no Lazurs pits will be in sight or even be mentioned and he'll have a translator for the whole film. Those are some pretty big changes.

That's what they WANT you to think.....

If I were you, I'd avoid spoilers for the movie altogether--you'll be pleasantly surprised...

Also of note, DC is owned by Warner Bro's and they have all the char's movie rights and have had them for years, whereas Marvel's char's rights are dispersed to a bunch of different companies, even tho New Line cinema's owns Marvel, but not for so long.
Basically, DC has more control of how the chars get translated on the screen while Marvel doesn't.
Like, Spidey, made by Sony pictures while the Hulk was done by Universal. You get the point, I'm sure.

Lately DC has had a rough go with movie translations. It used to Marvel. There was a time when DC movies reigned and Marvel was spitting out junk like the Cap and Punisher movies.

Meh. I still think Nicholson did a lousy job as the Joker. It's a bit late to fantasy cast, but I thought that movie was sub-par all around. Effects were mediocre, Alfred acts totally out of character by letting a reporter into the cave, and then there's the one thing that I can never forgive: the Batdance. Don't get me wrong. I loves me some Prince. But that soundtrack makes you look at Purple Rain and say, "Wow. I guess it's time that people start giving the Revolution a lot more credit. He's lost without them..."

HEY RO-GAN
I LOVED THE MID 90'S X-MEN CARTOON. IT IS BYFAR THE BEST FOR ITS TIME.
OUTSIDE OF THIS THE ONLY REASON THEY MAKE CHARACTERS DIFFERENT IN THE MOVIES IS TO TRY AND MAKE THEM MORE APPEALING AND THUS SELL MORE PRODUCT. THE REASON THE MARVEL MOVIES HAVE DONE BETTER THUS FAR IS BECAUSE THE CHARACTERS ARE MORE WELL KNOWN AND ARE EASIER TO RELATE TO. MANY OF THERE POWERS ARE TOO FAR STRETCHED. MOST MARVEL HEROS HAVE ONE OR TWO POWERS (SOME DON'T HAVE ANY IE PUNISHER, NICK FURY ETC.) THE DC CHARACTERS SUCH AS SUPERMAN HAVE AROUND FIVE POWERS A PIECE. SUPERMAN FOR EXAMPLE HAS FLIGHT, SUPERSTRENGTH, X-RAY VISION, HEAT BEAM EYES, AND SUPER SPEED. THIS IS JUST TO MUCH FOR ONE CHARACTER. THE ONLY SUPPORT I HAVE FOR DC IS THAT THE MAJORITY OF THEIR CARACTERS ALSO HAVE A DOWNFALL SUCH A KRYPTONITE.

But you would have to count both Catwoman and Constantine because they ARE DC comic properties. So in effect that is DC fanatic #####in' about movies...I have also heard just as much complaining about the last two Batman films and the last two Superman films, dare I mention Swamp Thing....especially the second one?!?

And let me qualify my entire statement above with this: I do not think either Marvel nor DC are better than the other...I like them both equally. I don't have these petty issues some comic fans have.

I'm a very big Marvel fan, and no matter what little nitpicks there are in the new generation of marvel-movies, I found each one really cool!!! Some cooler (X-Men, Spiderman, Punisher) and others not quite as good (Daredevil, Hulk)...but to me they were each worth buying the DVDs.

With DC, however....there were those Christopher Reeve Supes movies I really liked, and the 2 Tim Burton Batman ones...the rest was...well...ugh. I did like Constantine, however!!

I think the reason why Marvel fans complain about details is that the films only lack...well...details, while the newer DC movies (Batman & Robin, Catwoman,...) leave so much to be improved that fans don't know where to start and rather say nothing at all :p

I, for one, can only think of one movie that in my opinion was terrible and that is The Hulk, now admittedly I am not a fan of the Hulk, but the acting and writing of the movie were some of the worst I have seen in a comic book adaptation in a long time, the Batman sequels notwithstanding. Of course the Punisher movie was a slight disappointment, but at least it wasn't outright bad. Just what I think anyway.

The first Punisher movie was far worse then the Hulk movie. That'd be the one with Dolph Lundgren. At least in the newer one, an attempt was made to stick closer to the comicbook. As for the Hulk movie, eh. It was "ok".
Every comicbook movie I've seen and the animated series' all have flaws to them. the only one I never found a flaw with was "Hellboy"... and that's cause I've never ever read his book. :p

Having read almost every page ever published of Hellboy, I concur. A nearly-flawless comic adaptation.

(Then again, I really like the Daredevil film, so what do I know, right?)

Me either! I've never read any of it...but it just has a cool feel to it.

I've yet to see:

Catwoman (not sure I will)
Constantine
Elektra

But for the most part there are very few comic based movies, that I've found to be totally lacking.

Hellboy was pretty good, and like Mr_JTR stated, I don't read the comic, so it allowed me to go in with an open mind. Constantine, which I hope to see next week, will be the same way.

I'm looking forward to Batman Begins and FF.

I think there are some obvious things that comic readers expect, when their favs are up on the screen. Realistically, though, the people who create the movies, have to find a new way to appeal to us, while trying to appeal to the general public, which is usually the kids.

I think that if we, the readers saw the movies translated verbatum from the comics that they originated from, it would be boring, because there would be no surprises.
