View Full Version : Jägermeister pudding

The idea for this came up on one of the Dark Crisis breakfast threads and I have put some thought into it.
I think there'd be two possible ways to create Jägermeister pudding:
1) Get instant pudding and add Jägermeister instead of water/milk. I don't know what flavour would go with it, though.
2) Create single flavour Jägermeister pudding. I'm not sure how to produce the right consistency, though.
Any input?

Yes: Don't make it. Jagermeister is nasty. :p

I'm no dessert chef, but here are my ideas:

1. I think vanilla would probably be best, since it has a subtle flavor that would not compete with the Jagermeister. Other good choices would be banana, rice, and tapioca, depending on your pudding preferences. Butterscotch is also a possibility. Although it has a much stronger flavor, I think it might work well with Jagermeister. I don't think chocolate would be particularly compatible, but that might just be because I am not a chocolate pudding fan. If you could somehow buy or make a bittersweet dark chocolate pudding, that might work.

2. There are many great pudding recipes on the net, including some which are made with rum and other liquors. I always like to start at foodtv.com, since they have tons of good recipes easy at hand. The key here, of course, is not to add too much liquor, since it will thin the pudding and keep it from gaining the proper consistency.

I hope that helps. Let me know how it tastes!

I ruled out chocolate, too, and Vanilla wouldn't be too thrilling, either. I thought cherry or straciatella might work, although it sounds awkward.

I am not familiar with straciatella, but then again, I am no pudding connoisseur. Something else that might work would be trying a custard instead of a pudding. For instance, a well-spiced flan or dulce de leche might go nicely with the flavor of Jagermeister. I'm not sure what flavors you have available to you, but I think that fruit puddings might be too assertive for this. Although, something light like pear or a mild cherry could be good. How about cinnamon raisin? I also read something recently about an American pudding flavor called Indian Pudding. It sounds similar to pumpkin pie.

Go back to basics. Jagermeister used to contain Stag's blood, right? So, take about a 50/50 mix of Jager with blood, allow it to congeal, and voila! Jager Pudding.

What? The English have been eating black pudding for centuries, and that's 100% blood, aside from the intestine that it's packed in. So there.

I've never heard that there used to be stag's blood in Jägermeister.
Although your recipe would work, that's just gross.

Jager is a tough drink... for the end of the night it's either Tequila or Jager.

So with that said, making a pudding with it sounds like a great idea.

I think a blend of Tapioca/butterscotch and Jager is perfect...unless you could got the Mocha route somehow. Good luck with this one and let us know how it turns out.

Jägermeister has to be very cold, nearly freezing.
Once I drank it at room temperature. Oh my...

Having recently travelled to Dresden on business, i am again warming up to this stuff. On the recommendation of one of the germans I was working with, I bought a small bottle of Kloster Gruder (please forgive misspelling), which is nice. It is a bit sweeter than Jager, and has a distinct flavor, but is good in a very similar way, which is to say ONLY WHEN CHILLED! Have you ever had this?

I'm not sure I could drink these krauter liquors all the time, but they are a nice change of pace, and the flavor is perfect for after dinner and for dessert ingredients.

No, never heard of Kloster Gruder. Probably some local brew...

Jägermeister is the only shot I enjoy.

People always look at me like I'm nuts (not just when I ask for Jager!).

I always keep a bottle of Jager in the freezer. I don't actually mind it at room temperature, though. Most of the bars around here haven't really picked up on the whole chilled idea, although it's starting to pick up steam.

I pretty much only drink at home these days, or when I'm at a friend's house, so the Jager doesn't really come out as often.

At my bar they serve it in a chilled glass....

Yeah, you're right, now that I think of it. Our hosts were quite gracious and tried to show us the best of the area.

In any event, this being a Friday night, I'm glad that bottle is already in the freezer!

Cuervo will do or anything 100% Blue Agave. Not that I'm real picky with Tequila.

If it's late and you don't feel like you're drunk enough, Jager is an absolute must...especially if the thought of Tequila makes you sick (like 50% of drinking enthusiasts). I drink Scotch so I normally don't have to worry too much about that mad dash to get the ultimate drunk going as the night begins to wind down.

Ill have to agree with you there boot. I likes me some Tarantula. I get a big bottle of that stuff and just go to town. Dont get me wrong, Jose is good ####, I just like the lil "nail polish" taste that Tarantula gives ya....but seriously, make margaritas out of it...wow...

Me, Im a HUGE JAGER FAN! A friend of mine got me hooked on it about a year and a half ago. Ever since then...:drools: its just so good! I mean, I hate the black liquorice (spelling?) taste of it, but I like to mix it a bit. Ive tried everything from sodas to milk. Its usually after I have a few Jagerblasters that I get stupid ideas of mixing it with things like milk...although it wasnt all that bad!

So in conclusion, I agree with Jager pudding, and will try to find the perfect recipe. I mean, if "special brownies" taste so good, why cant Jager pudding???

Hey, I asked my boss her opinion, and she showed me a recipe for Blanc Mange. It is a cornstarch pudding. The cornstarch thickens it, so it should work okay with the jager.
I'd try to find a recipe using the cornstarch as a thickener, so look around for those.
