View Full Version : John Constantine vs. Count Dracula
Picture this scenario:
Constantine is wanted by the demons in hell right? So they send the son of the devil, Count Dracula, to fight him and kill him. Constantine knows that Drac is after him so...
With 6 hours prep time on both sides, who would win, John Constantine or Count Dracula?

Depends on who's playing Dracula. :)
I would vote for Dracula even though it's been SOOOOOoo long since I've seen him portrayed/written very well.

We've already seen a variation of this - the King of Vampires (aka the First Vampire) had been tricked and defeated by Constantine in the past. He spent over a decade planning how to handle John if he found him again. He did - he found John a passed out drunk after a particularly nasty string of events for Constantine. The King decided to play cat/mouse with John and then ended up dying horribly (among other problems - unknown to vampires, as the only one who _would_ know now is dead from it :) - is that John's blood is that of the Archduke of Hell, Nergal...it caused the First Vampire to hemmorhage like mad. John then incinerated the shmuck. :) )

Oh... Kay. Nothing like that was mentioned in the movie :)
What/How did this happen???

Hmm...didn't know this was "movie-only" Constantine. :)
In one of the first arcs of the Hellblazer comics, the demonlord Nergal needs a "favour" of Constantine. John is laid-up in the hospital from some pretty bad injuries (incidentally him and Nergal have a "past" as opponents but John hadn't pieced that together yet). John agrees to do the favour in return for a few back, including the patching together of his body. Nergal "transfuses" his own blood into John and it's been an on-going "power" of Constantine's since then.
Incidentally, Nergal is also John's "father-in-law" after recent events in the comics and admits him and Constantine are tied together in multiple ways (Nergal is helping John out currently).

It's Dracula, not some idiot loser vampire king before him.
I'm pretty sure the king of the undead has been keeping tabs on him, biding his time for the oppurtune moment-or he hasn't been uber pissed off by him yet.
Either way, it'd probably be close what with the demonic conjuration, and the boasting, and the consumption of alcohol and whatnot.

Yeah, but two things to consider:
1. If it's the King of Vampires, that means even Dracula bows to this "loser".
2. It was the First of Vampires - which means he's older and far more powerful than Dracula. This guy was killing beings on other planets before Earth even was inhabited (yes, seriously - it was talked about in the story).

Go with what you know. I don't know anything about the hellblazer comics.
With this knowledge I would probably have to change my vote to Constantine. Dracula could just twist his head off but probably wouldn't. If Johns blood is poison to vamps then Drac will probably lose.
I am a big fan of Dracula, but there is some stuff to remember about him. He wasn't a very good vampire. He's not THAT old. He was sloppy enough that the villagers of transylvania KNEW he was a vampire and he bleed the countryside so bad that when Harker arrived he was a shrivled old man.
The count had to move to england where nobody knew him and he could feed in peace. Then he was sloppy enough that he was killed shortly after.
Dracula is still one of the best Vampire novels of all time and the benchmark for vampires but look at the facts. He was pretty childish and incompitant.
