I have a feeling DarkCrisis will answer this, but In Batman Superman in issue 4 or 5, Steel Superboy and I guess Supergirl break into the white house. Is that supergirl? She has black hair and wears like a black swimsuit with sleeves and a red "S" on it. Someone shed some light on this character for me please. Like background and stuff.
Thanx.

She is/was a Supergirl. Not Kara, of course.

I just picked up the trade of that story, and was wondering the same thing.
Good thing for clix or I wouldn't have known the new steel either.
What's her story?

she s some sort of time displaced daughter of clark and lois kent.
that s as much as i remember because i dropped superman quickly after that.
although i highly recommend the Azarello/Lee "Vanishing" story going on now.
Btw, at the end of the story that she was created in, I believe she was thrown through a rift in time or something and hasn't been sense. She may be gone.
I personally didn't mind the character. A different Supergirl could've been cool. Although I doubt she'll be showing up again to show if I'm right one way or another.

Her name is Cir-El.
She came from "a" future where Lis and Clark had a daughter.
She really really sucked and did nothing but whined all the time.
Eventually when Superman "fixed the future by destorying some timehopping badguys she ceased to exist (apparently).
She was a weak attempt to replace Supergirl Linda and thus why we got a new Kara instead. Which is of course much better.
The trade bok with the arc with the return of Kara is out now.

Well she looked cool. Too bad she sucked.
I think she appeared only in one (not very good) author's run, plus the short appearance in Bats/Supes.
So she never got written well, but she could've been.
