View Full Version : TV Cartoon Battles: Super-Heavyweight Division: Round 1, Match 5
Match 5 Begins! 8 incredibly powerful combatants entered Round 1 thus far, and only 4 have managed to advance to the next level. Which of these next 8 will be saying the same? That is up to YOU to decide.
Now without further adieu, allow me to present your next battle in a BRAND NEW (Actually unless youre from Mars, these are pretty old hat by now) type of Tournament Of Champions:
GODZILLA (GODZILLA - HANNA BARBERA)
VS.
IMHOTEP (MONSTER FORCE)
As always, same rules apply, no time to prepare, POOFed from where ever they were, with only what they routinely carry on them AND/OR routinely used in their shows, to fight in a Large area til one stands and one falls. YOU decide Who.
Randomly Chosen Area:
Another Planet - The dull, grey rock plains are broken up by strangely shaped trees of wild colouring. Wondrous alien plants will try to ensnare any one that gets too close. Small, clustered groups of crumbling ruins are the only indication that intelligent life ever lived here.
(Inspired by: Space Ghost, Herculoids, Star Trek (the cartoon))

TV CARTOON TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS Part 4
ROUND 1
He-Man vs. Oberon: Oberon (12 - 7)
Tiamat vs. Superion: Tiamat (15 - 4)
Big O vs. The Gundam: Big O (7 - 0)
Omega Supreme vs. Hordak: Omega Supreme (7 - 0)
Godzilla vs. Imhotep: ??????
Godzilla (Godzilla) (Hanna Barbera) - "Up from the depths, thirty stories high! Green, breathing fire, his head in the sky. Godzilla!" Well, three out of four ain't bad. The Hanna Barbera version of Godzilla falls well short of the advertised "thirty stories" (topping out at around fifty meters - a height that is consistent with the Toho movies of the era), but the rest of the theme song rings true. As the protector of the research vessel Calico and the guardian of that Scrappy-Doo of the kaiju kingdom, Godzooky, Godzilla embarked on a number of adventures through time and around the world. He possesses great strength, even relative to his massive size (he once threw an opponent into *moon orbit* - a feat that stretches the limits of cartoon physics). He is also surprisingly nimble, and has used his combination of speed, strength, and size to great advantage against a variety of enemies. It should be noted that HB Godzilla has demonstrated an intellect that is far above animal level. He is more than capable of using an opponent's weaknesses against it, seems to have no trouble communicating with the human crew of the Calico, and has shown to be as resourceful as he is strong. This Godzilla swaps the traditional, bluish "radioactive breath" for an intense flame breath. The flame projects as a cone or as a jet, over a range of up to a half mile. HB Godzilla can also project intense laser beams from his eyes (they are powerful enough to melt rock). For the purposes of outsourcing, HB Godzilla bears little resemblance to the ones found in either the Japanese or American films. It is, however, directly analogous to the Marvel comics version of Godzilla (his book was launched to capitalize on the popularity of the cartoon and of giant monsters in general).
Weapons and physical characteristics - Godzilla is an enormous (160-foot-tall) reptilian monster. He is incredibly strong, durable, and, for his size, quick. His behavior implies an intelligence that is at least on par with that of his human allies. His flame breath can incinerate an area the size of several city blocks in a single burst. When underwater, or when fire would not be effective, Godzilla can manifest powerful laser beams from his eyes.
Imhotep (Monster Force) - The high priest of a powerful Egyptian pharaoh, Imhotep was a force to be reckoned with before his curse. When his love was deceased and mummified, Imhotep and his followers began to resurrect her, but since he broke the laws set forth by the pharaoh, he had a curse placed on him by Osiris. Imhotep was given immortality and sealed in a tomb. However, he was recently freed by archaeologists who should have known better and now he walks the earth cursed as the mummy.
Imhotep is capable of incredible sourcerous powers-those that surpass Dracula and even master mystics. He has area effect blasts which froze an entire room. He's not above getting his hands dirty, but if given the opportunity to raise his undead priests, who are no more than lonely zombies (which can be incapacitated for short periods of time, but never truly destroyed), he will. Imhotep favors his ice attacks which can freeze whole rooms, but he's not above switching bodies to avoid a lethal blow. Imhotep is also known for other incapacitating magical attacks.

I am going to vote godzilla with this wide open terrian i see him having a chance to blast away at imhotep. My vote is godzilla SIZE DOES MATTER
I vote for Imhotep.
Incapacitation style attacks are traditionally of a sort that bypass physical defenses, particulalry those that are mental or spiritual in nature. If they are Imhotep's specialty then he should have something in his apparently vast magical arsenal to render Godzilla inoperative without haveing to tackle the vast physical defenses that Godzilla has at his disposal. In addtion being the smaller entity should allow Imhotep to see (and therfore attack) Godzilla before Godzilla sees him.
I have a question for anyone who knows this show regarding Imhoteps incapaciation attacks.
In his bio it states several times that he can freeze an entire room, and that he favors ice attacks......is Imhotep incapacitating foes with ice?
If so, that might not work too well on the fire breathing, heat visioned, vastly strong Godzilla. Magical stun beam, maybe, encased in a gian block of ice, probably no.
Godzilla to round 2 - who knew terrain would be my limiting factor in this TOC?? In this wide open space, Imhotep is gonna have a hard time getting away from Godzilla's beam and fire attacks. And nothing ticks off a mummy like fire! Not sure of Imhotep's range, but from his bio, it sounds like he works best in close-quarters, which this terrain is not. Godzilla to round 2!

Huh...
Fire vs Ice.
Godzilla lite here is less then his movie bretherin, but still stacks in at an impressive size, about a half a football field long. Translation, he ain't hiding behind nothin.
Imhotep on the other hand is small, nimble, and powerful.
We'll assume the mummy is going to get first strike unless he does something really dumb.
Imhotep's bio mentions him switching bodies. Anyone who knows more about this version of the character around? I want some more information on the body switching and incap attacks before I vote.
Imhotep is strong, but not strong enough. Godzilla is too powerfull and will toarch him. My vote...
GODZILLA
Can someone explain to me how Imhotep's "incap" attack works? Is it magic, is it some sort of ice...what is it?

As to Imhotep's incapacitating attacks: He uses a variety of them, usually favoring ice or freezing attacks. He's managed to freeze or stop the motion of the living of an entire room (about 6-7 people were incapacitated-not necessarily frozen, but could not move). He's used his ice attack to freeze a giant ball of flame (which was of a very intense degree-probably not near atomic level, but still pretty dang hot).
Basically he uses his cold deathly breath to freeze, or can just stop the motion of a living thing for short periods of time with occasional telekinetic grasp and throws. It's mostly all magic.
I doubt his mind swap won't work here since 1: Godzilla probably gains battle fury and 2: he's only done it once, and to a weak willed human (so I doubt he'd be able to use it every chance he got, but only in an event he deemed highly favorable).
As for the fight, nice one, a flying dead guy capable of powerful magicks vs. a being of atomic science and destruction. In the end, I give it to Imhotep. His freeze breath should counter Godzilla's breath weapons, and his telekinetic holds will keep him safe from Godzilla claw swipes. Eventually he's going to throw Godzilla down and then use his spells to keep him from getting up. It's going to take time and out of 100 battles, Imhotep might only win 60 of them at best.
Vote: Imhotep

nice to see you post prof a havent seen you for awhile
I'd personally say Godzilla's atomic flame overwhelms the ice.
Plus, his shear mass makes him hard to effect. If you freeze him so extremely that even tissue a half meter down is inoperable, way more than simply freezing a human in place, that's probably still barely penetrating his skin. His own body heat should make it really difficult to incap him, and his flame breath is really strong even in the cartoon.
I vote Godzilla. Nay, I am legally bound to vote Godzilla!
Even with this ice attack, I see Godzilla taking this more than 50% of the time...mass, the flames, the eye beams....Imhotep is gonna have to get in close to do his attack and Godzilla ain't gonna let that happen.
If Imhotep Incaps foes with ice, I definately dont see it working on an opponent as strong as Godzilla, who can breath fire and has heat vision.
Imhotep can freeze solid a room, thats great, Godzilla is a HECK of a lot bigger than a room.
Even from Profs bio and explanation afterwards, I wouldnt see much reason to think hed take Godzilla here.

The big G takes it over the smaller I. Size and fire are on the side of lizard boy here.

I vote for Godzilla. When facing a breath weapon that can take out an entire city block, being small and fast won't be enough to keep you from getting roasted.
If all Imhotep has is ice stuff and telekinesis then I change my vote to Godzilla. None of the descriptions I've seen lead me to believe he can out power him, and neither ice nor T.k. bypass Godzilla's strength or toughness.
Godzilla - 8 votes
Imhotep - 1 vote

I'm going to go against the grain and vote Imhotep.
He flies right up to Godzilla, waits for Godzilla to inhale for the breath weapon, then freezes it right as Godzilla tries to exhale. Godzilla choke/drowns on his own attack while Imhotep retreats to a safe distance to prevent being struck by the now flailing reptile.
I'd imagine it'd all vaporise the moment the flame reaches the mouth, not an effective preventative measure.
And Godzilla feeds on nuclear radiation and survives the heat going through his mouth anyway.

I have to vote Godzilla. The original giant movie monster to fear. King Kong really isn't scary. Godzilla has the fire power, and strength to take this monster. Imotep is a great villian, but I just don't see him really hurting Godzilla.

And if we were talking about movie Godzilla, you would all have a point. Unfortunately we are talking cartoon Godzilla who is apparently not even atomic in nature.
And Q99, my scenario is not Imhotep creating ice in Godzilla's throat, but freezing Godzilla's fire as Imhotep has been shown to be able to freeze high temp fire solid. (It may not make sense with physics, but it's a cartoon.)
Imhotep has been shown to freeze high temp fire before eh? Interesting.....
I think Imhotep is a worthy SHW, he just got the "wrong" challenger in round 1. Look at Xavier...he is a worthy SHW and in the movie TOC, he got Magneto in round 1. Round 1 is notorious for weeding out both the good and the bad.

I think Imhotep is more likely to use his TK to knock Godzilla down until he doesn't get back up.
You think Imhoteps TK is THAT strong, Prof? Godzilla is one of the physically strongest characters in the SHWs, its going to take a tremendous about of TK power to keep knocking him over, especially to hold him down afterwards. Godzilla will be resisting such attempts with his own strength, keep in mind.

I never said it'd be over fast, it would take a long time possibly days or weeks before he'd knock Godzilla over.
You also forget the mummy is immortal, he can easily wait Godzilla out whether through age or hunger combined with a lot of incapacitation spells.
