Two of these plots are from real comics--one is fake. Which is the fake?

1. Puppet Master is parolled from prison two days before Christmas. Returning to his secret lab, he discovers his sculpting clay has lost its radioactivity and is now useless. He must return to Central Europe (the only place in the world his special clay can be found) for more, but doesn't have the money for the trip. After a few petty thefts, he gets the idea of crashing the Fantastic Four's Christmas party, where the rule is everyone HAS to get a present. He asks for a round trip to the Balkans and the next morning, Ben flies him and Alicia over on the FF pogo plan.

Once there, Puppet Master sneaks off to find the clay. When Ben realizes he's gone, he goes out to look for him. Ben encounters a talking cow--a "genetically accelerated" being named Bove, who take him to the cabin of a magician named Modred. Modred was once very powerful, but is now somewhat dimwitted after suffering a demon possesion. He now spends his time making toys.

Puppet Master is there as well. Incllmate weather forces them to stay the night, during which they are minuaturized and attacked by Modred's mysteriously animated toys. After a fight, they return to normal size. It turns out that Modred is unconsciously causing this to happen while he's sleeping. In a burst of pity, Puppet Master temporarily sets aside his plans for evil in order to help Mordred gain control over his power.

2. Shang Chi, Master of Kung Fu, sees an elderly couple being threatened by thugs in a New York alley way. He chases off the thugs and learns that they are part of a gang that's terrorizing the neighborhood. He asks a local police officer to look into it, but gradually realizes that the cops don't seem to notice any of the gang members, even when a crime is being committed right in front of them. It seems that all the cops from the local precinct have been struck with a sort of selective blindness and remain completely unaware of the gang's activities.

Shang Chi himself investigates and locates the gang headquarters in an abandoned tenement. He fights through a small army of thugs and encounters the leader. The leader, it turns out, inherited a book of magic from his grandmother. The only spell he's been able to figure out is the selective blindness one, but he's put it to effective use.

Shang Chi defeats the leader's personal bodyguard. In desperation, the leader attempts to summon a demon. He does so, but the demon kills him. Shang Chi fights the demon and barely defeats it. It and the book of magic distintergrate. The neighborhood is safe again.

3. Lana Lang, Lois Lane and Clark Kent are all exposed to an alien virus when Lana accidentally breaks an ancient glass vial. Clark's super-antibodies save him, but Lana and Lois only have hours to live. Clark realizes that this is the same virus that killed Jonathan and Martha Kent years ago. As Superman, he visits Lex Luthor in prison and asks him to find a cure. Lex refuses. He gloats as he points out that Superman could infect him as well to force him to find a cure, but Superman's moral code prevents him from doing such a thing.

Superman leaves the gloating Luthor and flies through the time barrier to the 88th Century. Here he finds floating, domed cities in orbit around a dead Earth. The leaders of this civilization tell him that there is now a cure, discovered during Superman's lifetime, but they can't give it to him without polluting the space-time continuum.

The increasingly desperate Superman flies back to the 20th Century. In the nick of time, he realizes that his super-antibodies had adapted themselves to destroy the virus and are thus the basis for a cure. A quick blood transfusion save Lois and Lana.

The second one sounds too real... so that one's fake!

All three sound very plausible. I'm gonna go with # 1 being the fake, since I am hoping the talking cow didn't really happen.

The Silver Age of DC had the best stupid plots ever.

Yes, but do you have a guess about the fake?

There was a talking cow in Marvel called Bova.
Here is a quick blurb in the first paragraph about her:

My guess is #2.

Gee whiz, I'm not fooling anyone with this one (except for Ultimate2099, who can't face up to the idea of a talking cow). The fake is #2--though with the right artist, Shang fighting his way through a tenement full of thugs would be pretty cool.

#1 is from Marvel Two-in-One #74. #3 is from Superman #328.

Apparently, you all can accept talking cows, animated toys, time travel and super-antibodies more readily than you can
accept poor Shang Chi knocking out a few gang members. ;)

I'm taking off from work now for a couple of vacation days. I'll post another three plots on Thursday if I can come up with a good fake plot.

I was about to guess #2 as well-- since I remember #3, and #references a character (Bove) who I have seen later.
