Movie Doom Semi-Ultimate?

I was reading the article on Dr Doom in the Wizard 2 movie issue, and it states several times that Doom starts out normal but mutates over the course of the film into a living metal creature ala Ultimate Doom. He does wear a traditional Dr Doom metal mask for most of the time in order to hide his disfigurement (I sense the possiblity that near the end of the movie he may eventually rip off the mask to reveal his fully-transformed/mutated metal face once the mask is no longer needed to protect it), but no armor under his cloak, apparently that's supposed to be his real (metallic) body underneath. It also implies that the electrical bolts he fires are an actual super power, since he has no armor for built-in weapons.

I'm personally ambivaelent towards this idea, myself. Other thoughts, comments? Is this Old News to many/most of you? Am I badly misreading the article and just plain wrong?
