Well, since Match 5 seems to be another case of Uber Wizard bypasses the Hulking Robotic SHW and goes straight for the LW Pilot to Win (and rest assured we have one more yet to come :) ) I figured in the meantime I could post Match 6, something I hope we be deemed closer and more even than our last battle.

Now without further adieu, allow me to present your next battle in a BRAND NEW (Actually unless youre from Mars, these are pretty old hat by now) type of Tournament Of Champions:

SPACE GHOST (SPACE GHOST)

VS.

MEWTWO (POKEMON)

As always, same rules apply, no time to prepare, POOFed from where ever they were, with only what they routinely carry on them AND/OR routinely used in their shows, to fight in a Large area til one stands and one falls. YOU decide Who.

Randomly Chosen Area:

Primevil Wastes - Large, flat, rocky ground bisected by imposing cliffs. A central volcano can be seen from even the farthest parts of the arena. Channels of lava crisscross the open ground, ensuring that an uncertain step could lead to a very fiery death. (Inspired by: He-Man, Thundarr, etc)

Thanks all, and enjoy.

And REMEMBER, if youre not sure who someone is here, ASK. Theres PLENTY of people here who can tell you most anything youd like to know. Thanks again.

ALSO, please do your best to respect everyones votes, reasonings and opinions here. If you believe your character should win, but doesnt in the end, dont hold grudges against the character that beat yours, or call the votes that allowed this to happen "fanboy" arguments or plain and simply wrong. We all have our own way of thinking and voting here, with each one of our thoughts and ideas as valid as your own. Lets do what we can, even in the heat of an argument, to respect that. Thanks.

Space Ghost (Space Ghost) - Space Ghost's powers seem to stem from his costume and the power bands he wears on his wrists. With it he can fly, and is able to travel underwater and in outer space without requiring further equipment. His belt hides an "inviso button" which can turn him invisible or generate a protective force field. He can fire a viso penetron beam from his eyes, and has a communicator located in the silhouette on his chest. His power bands seem to be able to harness the electromagnetic spectrum to enable him to fire a wide variety of different types of energy blasts, including, but not limited to: force ray, destructo ray, stun ray, heat ray, freeze ray, somic ray, electro ray, magnetic ray, anti-matter ray, force shields, hypno force ray, and straghtforward lasers. Multiple types of ray can be combined to increase his firepower. The bands also grant him superspeed, and the ability to create time warps. Probably his single most impressive power is his ability to teleport, transforming himself into pure thought and energy through concentration and will power, so that he can teleport elsewhere and reassemble there.

He travels around in a heavily armed space ship called both The Phantom Cruiser and the Ghost Ship. That said, he can fly through space faster under his own steam, so presumably he only uses it to save energy or when he has company for the trip.

Mewtwo (Pokemon) - Geneticly enginered from DNA of the legendary Pokemon Mew, the Psychic type Pokemon, Mewtwo is arguably the most powerful Pokemon ever. He communicates with telepathy, and his Telekinetic powers can create energy attacks, incredibly powerful force fields, and give him the ability to fly. His TK abilities are strong enough to level an entire island research base. He has super human intelligence, shown by the fact he's mastered the science of cloning and Pokeball technology. His major flaw is his arrogance and his deep burning hatred for all humans.

I vote for Mewtwo

Mewtwo's psychic power will halt any ghosting around and his t.k. can be used to yank the devices that Space Ghost uses to control his powers off of him.

I vote for Mewtwo. Space Ghost has no psychic defence and Mewtwo could just shut down his brain systems if he needed to.

I suppose that voting for Space Ghost because he's frickin' Space Ghost and Mewtwo is a Puke-a-mon doesn't count, right?

This one is a lot closer than some of you think. Being a superhero, I'm sure SG has fought a few psychics in his time. His variety of weapons could prove troublesome. But in the end, Mewtwo would win, based solely on his offensive powers and Space Ghost's inability to defend against them.

Actually Grinner, the sad thing is that some people actually vote like that.

I vote for Skeletor, he way outclasses a ####ing Digimon.

Space Ghost has a lot of skill and defence, but he is not prepared for the pychic might of Mewtwo. SG is out of his leage, big time. My vote...
MEWTWO

Mewtwo is arrogant, and hates humans. Space Ghost is an intergalactic peacekeeper.

He will easily exploit Mewtwo's downsides, and vaporize the Pokemon.

Actually, Space Ghost has pretty fantastic psychic defense. That bit about him "transforming himself into pure thought" in his bio? That's there for a reason. Space Ghost's mind is powerful enough to disassemble his body and reassemble it at some distant point of the universe. He would know the moment someone tried messing with him mentally and take steps to counter it (perhaps by making his mind invisible like his body?).

Space Ghost has an enemy called the Creature King who uses psychic "nightmare beams" as his primary attack. SG beat him on something like a half-dozen separate occasions. He also fought the Mind-Taker and the Wizard, two other psychic villains. Of course, he beat them both as well. He's got all kinds of experience dealing with the likes of Mewtwo.

So if you remove the "instant psychic KO" factor from the equation, this match very suddenly swings in the other direction. Frustrated at his inability to zap SG's mind, Mewtwo will start lashing out with the TK. Well, Space Ghost has TK, too - and he's got a lot more to back that up. His power bands have a variable frequency thing going on (think of them as *really* powered up phasers with a lot more settings). Space Ghost throws up the cloak, strafes Mewtwo a couple of times to see what'll best penetrate that shield of his, and then starts the major assault. He'll amplify the frequency that works best on Mewtwo and then he'll pour on the hurt, remaining invisible and teleporting all the while. Don't write him off as a talk show host - he's got a shot at taking this whole thing. Space Ghost to advance.

Well, this match just got alot closer. Seems Mewtwo is only leading by 2 votes currently, could Space Ghost actually be coming back to defeat the most powerful Pokemon ever?

Because of hail_eris, I am going to vote for Space Ghost. It sounds like he has a good shot of not succumbing to Mewtwo's psychic attacks, which if true puts the battle in his favor.

Can you produce a single instance of Space Ghost attacking while invisible, utilizeing hit and run tactics, or teleporting anywhere? Even if you could your scenario still would fail to defeat Mewtwo. Space Ghost's attacks are visible, even when he is not as soon as he fires Mewtwo will know exactly where he is and Ghost has absolutly no defense at all while invisible as his forcefields are also visible to the naked eye, which means fighting in the manner you describe will allow him to maybe attack Mewtwo once from suprise and then get killed instantly. Regardless Space Ghost being able to dissassemble his mind (an ability I doubt very seriously that he actually has in the show) still makes him an inferioir psychic to Mewtwo who can also teleport, and then has a ton more mental abilties on top of that, and as such I see no reason why he could cloak his mind especially considering he doesn't have a true mind controller for an enemy just someone that uses psychic beam attacks.

Mewtwo is incredibly smart, and doesn't fighting in an arrogant manner (i.e. leaving weakpoints and assuming his powers will easily handle whatever his opponent can throw). He has a very good knowledge of where his limits are.

He's arrogant most of the time because he is that much more powerful than pretty much anything else in his world. Against a worthy foe, however, he's going to be fighting dead serious.

Plus, I'm pretty sure he got over his human hatred thing to an extent. He doesn't -like- humans (understandibly), but he's not blinded by rage/contempt at the sight of them.

I'm pretty sure any psychics he's fought is of the "And I shall take control of you with my Mind Control Ray!" type.

Mewtwo's a genius and will use his abilities to full effect, using energy attacks and TK to take him down, while being able to both dodge much better than Space Ghost (he was incredibly agile in the air while moving at high speed) and having a force field of his own, is definitely going to grant him the edge.

I think Mewtwo's raw power combined with everything being done with a thought to him, meaning he uses his abilities fast (in the movie, he threw off one attack after another and fought with high manueverability at impressive speed) grant him the win.

Mewtwo is more than psychic attacks and forcefields. He is able to use his power in many different ways. In the movie, he use his TK to create a storm and later used his power to block dozens of other pokemon's abilities. He is also a genius; he mastered cloning and his base was filled with high-tech stuff. When this fight begins, the first thing he is going to do is locate Space Ghost using his telepathy, adn then he is going to use his TK to rip off SG's arm brands. Finally, Mewtwo will finish SG off by encasing him in lava, makin ghim a new, almost shiny trophy.

Well, it looks like this is not an easy win for Mewtwo after all. If Space Ghost can indeed block out the psychic power of Mewtwo, then the psychic Poke’mon will have problems locating him. What makes this worse for Mewtwo is that the energy produced by the bands is powerful enough to break anything. Can Mewtwo shield himself from such a devastating attack?

This match could be very heavily debated, and could become very interesting indeed. :devious:

I am voting for Mewtwo, not because of the psychic attacks, but because I cannot see SG getting through Mewtwo's defenses. Mewtwo has fought off multiple pokemon attacks at the same time, how is SG going to penetrate that defense? Mewtwo is a lot more powerful than Space Ghost both offensely and defensely. Even if SG is immune to the direct psychic attacks, Mewtwo is going to rip in a new one in so many other ways that other voters have mentioned. Mewtwo for the win.

i'll toss in a vote for mewtwo.
it's not just that mewtwo is a powerful psychic pokemon, it's that he was (at the time, dunno about now) *the* most powerful psychic pokemon ever.

pokemon is a paper, rock, sciccors type thing.... certain types are better against others, but similar types are resistant to each other... or at least have a strong defense against their own type.

mewtwo is such a powerful psychic that he crushes other psychic pokemon. even a high psychic defense doesn't help against mewtwo.

I will toss a vote for the underdog Space Ghost.

Mewtwo has alot of power...but his main attack is the ability to attack with psychic powers. Without those powers at full effect, the Ghost gains some advantage.

Space Ghost can turn invisible and hide his mind. From here he can attack at will. Yes he may have to uncloak for a few attacks, but if its a battle in the air he has 3 axis' to dodge within, and Mewtwo won't see his attacks coming.

As well, Space Ghost could just move this battle close range, and use some heavy physical attacks to put the hurt on mewtwo.

It seems Mewtwo and Space Ghost are very similar characters, however Mewtwo's main attacks come from powerful psychic blasts, and Space Ghost's from the power of his energy beams.

I will give the more versatile character the win.

Space Ghost.

Mewtwo's most powerful attack form is telekinesis and there is only very tangental evidence to support the claim that his psychic attacks won't function at full effect.

There is no evidence at all that Space Ghost can cloak his mind. Mewtwo will see his attacks comeing as Space Ghost's beams are plainly visible to the naked eye and Mewtwo's t.k. can't be dodged it affects whatever he thinks at (just like most telekinesis).

Space Ghost has no close combat abilities, he hits as hard as a normal man, meaning moveing the battle to close range will avail him nothing.

Space Ghost has the ability to fly, turn invisible and intangible or attack with various types of energy beams and erect various types of forcefield around himself. Mewtwo can fly, utlize large scale telekinesis, create energy attacks, has mental powers, can surround himself with a forcefield, teleport, manipulate the environment, and transfmute even living substances, he probably has more powers on top of that. Mewtwo is the more versatile.

Actually... in Mewtwo's battle with Mew, it was in large part in 'close combat' with psychic forcefields around each other. They were slamming each other through buildings, through bleachers, into the ground, blocking the psychic-electric energy attack they both do... heavy pounding, and not much of a scratch. Heck, the first attack he took that knocked him through a stone wall, I don't even think he had his shield up for.

Mewtwo's a beast in close, not fragile at all. Horrendously agile, surrounded by a force field, and he can slam a human-sized target around easily.

I mean, forget about the mind-affected attacks (which he can do, but didn't really use in combat vs. his foes), Mewtwo throws around 20-foot long pokemon made of stone easily. When he was in his limiter-armored that lessened and focused his abilities when he was in training, not at his full, current power and skill.

"Mewtwo's most powerful attack form is telekinesis and...

If Space Ghost can defend against the psychic attacks, he will win this battle. How can Mewtwo's tk or non-mental attacks affect someone who is intangible?

He has to turn tangible and visible to do much of his stuff, and actually in Pokemon psychics work against intangible ghost types excellently. Psychic tk doesn't care if you're a ghost in pokemon, at the least.
