Well, that was a slaughter. Every vote to Jean (except for 1 person who voted for rock, apparently because he hate Jean)

I was playing Heroclix the other day, and building my team, I had 103 points left. I looked at my selection and realized that U HT Batman and R IC Hulk both cost the same. This got me thinking. Just because they are Heroclix equals doesn’t translate back translate back to comics. I think most of us would agree that Hulk could beat Batman in a fight.

That is the idea for this tournament. Every entry will be close to the same amount of points Heroclix wise, but this will be their comic forms fighting!

Rules:
This will be a standard single elimination tournament with 32 combatants. There will be 2 to a fight. They get no knowledge of each other (unless they have fought in the past). The only thing they get is the Heroclix figure of there enemies, and a PAC so they know what the opponent looks like and a bit about what they can do (this can be misleading however, like if they face Electro and think he will try to poison them). They will have 5 minutes to prepare. This is a fight to the death or KO, whichever happens first, and they must fight (no waiting for the opponent to die of starvation). They have with them what they normally carry and what there fig has if it is different. (Like how Bullseye doesn’t carry a gun, but he has one on the fig). If the fig that is being used is the rookie, you do NOT have to treat the fighter like that. (unless the characters powers change dramatically ie: Rouge)

When you vote, please try to justify your answer. You don’t have to write an essay, just a short explanation will do.

Terrain
There are 10 terrains that are all 5 miles in diameter. They will be chosen randomly.
With out further delay…

Hobgoblin
fig from IC, 34pts.
vs.
Arwyn
fig from IN, 31pts.

Terrain:
WWII Battle Field by The Red Baron
Think Battle of the Bulge. On one side are the Allies on the other are the Axis. Both are based on opposite hills which create a valley with a river dividing the hills. In this valley is a small village, which contains the only bridge around for miles. The Allies must protect the bridge or the Axis will be able to advance back into France.

21-25pts. winner: Live Wire
26-30pts. winner: Zatanna

Round 1
Poison Ivy vs. Havok: Havok
Silver Sable vs. Ultimate Spider-Man: Silver Sable
Weather Wizard vs. Viper: Weather Wizard
Jean Grey vs. Sgt. Rock: Jean Grey
Hobgoblin vs. Arwyn:

And the bios (witch always seem nessesary in the "indy" battles.)

HOBGOBLIN
Roderick Kingsley reinvented the guise of the Green Goblin when he discovered the late villain's hideout. Armed with pumpkin bombs, glove blasters and flying bat-glider, Hobgoblin started a gang war that almost destroyed New York. His plans were thwarted by Spider-man, but he always eludes capture using decoys, like brainwashed reporter Ned Leeds. When Leeds was murdered, it was Leed's wife, Betty, who finally tracked down Kingsley and revealed his identity to clear her husband's name.

ARWYN
Arwyn returns from archery practice to find her home in the city of Gerrindor in flames and her husband and daughter murdered by Mordath's troll army. Swearing revenge, Arwyn seeks out Mordath's castle to kill the dark lord. Though a capable fighter with a sword and an excellent archer, she is captured. In the dungeon, she meets Gareth and the two escape with the help of Neven the wizardess. She is quested by Neven to find the five pieces of Ayden's arrow; the only weapon that can destroy Mordath once and for all.

Well, as with all "indy" battle, I dought this will get many votes, but I will start it off. I think that Hobby can win. Arwyn seems good, but the sword is a moot point 'cause of the Goblin Glider, which leaves her with Arrows, which I don't think is enough. The goblin has a lot of ammo, and with those pumpkin bombs, he doesn't have to be that great of a shot. My vote...
HOBGOBLIN

Note: Her bow is the bow of Altwaal, the First amoung the First, the gods of the Crossgen universe. It fires magic explosive arrows, and is the only weapon capable of killing the undead Big Bad Guy of her world (in the hands of a First, it does far more, but in her hands it is a majorly impressive magical weapon).

I say she wins. She's an excellent archer and, well... her bow fires arrows which can break castle walls. One shot will take out Hobby, no offense to him, and she's fast enough and good enough at dodging to get that shot.

Unfortunatly, no it isn't. That's her U. This is her REV, so no exploding arrows or bow of Altwaal

Hmm.. that does change things (and it's kinda odd, since she has the bow the entire series). She is pretty much Green Arrow level archer anyway, so she has a good chance.

I don't know enough about Arwyn to say, but the popular vote seems to bo Hobby. I'll just go with him.

My vote: Hobogoblin

I'll vote Hobgoblin. An arrow down the throat will still ruin his day.

The bio's of Kingsley but shouldn't this be Ned Leeds being that's who got the LE? :)

Seriously though, Hobgoblin's a tougher hombre than people credit. He's physically resistant to harm, packing body armour and is immensely strong. If this was Macendale he's also a very experienced soldier of fortune. The arsenal of the Gobbos is no great surprise and his best initial attack here might be the smoke and hallucinogenic pumpkin bombs to disorient Arwyn so she can't draw a bead. Mind you, if she does get a clear shot at Hobgoblin it's all over - she's not a super-heroine and will have no qualms about putting one straight through the eye - but I don't think she's going to get that opportunity if Hobgoblin plays it smart (which he likely will - Kingsley and Leeds are both pretty cunning).

Vote: Hobgoblin

Err.. that was supposed to be an Arwyn vote from me. Sorry.
