I have a quick question about this show. A friend of mine watched an episode a couple of months ago. He saw a hero he didn't recognize and I can't think of who he is talking about. Apparently the guy went against supes so he is moderatley powerful.
It is not Captain Marvel(Shazam), or Aztek.
Can someone list the powerfulish obscure villany hero characters for me.

PirateNinja

Captain Atom?

Comicstu
10/29/2005, 12:29
If it's a hero who went against supes, it's probably Captain Atom went he sided with Cadmus. I haven't actually seen the episode but I read all the reviews. If it was a silver character with a red star looking thing on his chest it was Captain Atom.

Any news on when we'll get to see this show again? I'd just love to see re-runs because I have not even come close to seeing all of the episodes yet!

Hope they release dvd sets of each season one day.

After the new year there is supposed to finish up the season. No clue about another season of JLU or not. It seems that the DC Animated Universe shows are in short supply lately.

I mean I know there was four new episodes, with more supposed to be coming. then it just stopped. What happened? It's a very popular show..

St-Dumas
12/16/2005, 22:12
Cartoon Network did the smart thing when they took off one of their most popular shows for a bunch of experimental shows.

Naturally, I speak in sheer sarcasm. We should all e-mail those idiots saying that we want JLU.

DOOMSTRIKER

i agree, only i opt to use violence instead of e-mailing. they replaced JLU with Naruto, IGPX and that retarded Bo Bo show. JLU was one of the very few shows i even watched TV for, and it was my favorite. i hope they put it back on very soon, and this time leave it there, and if they wanna test out more lame shows they take off some other program.

did this post seem a little hostile?

Yes?

Im pretty sure the LJU will be back. Ive jsut seen the new figureds for them at the Target. A GL 3 pack, Super Villians 3 and a a Justice Lords 3 pack. If they are going to be making the figures im sure they willhave more of the Episodes soon. At this time of year its no use putting new stuff out to compete witt he holidays and holiday programing.

We're supposed to get the rest of the season in January I think... but the real issue is wether or not we'll get anything after that.

I'm starting to doubt it. Kids just aren't buying the merch the way they are Teen Titans, although hopefully the Superman movie and the game will help that out alot. We'll see...

DOOMSTRIKER
12/18/2005, 14:38
thats retarded. i hate children, and the fact that my favorite show may go under because its not selling its #### (and it realy is low quality ####) to kids because the show is a little to mature for most of the younger set, is irritating, very very much so. i've had enough Teen Titans (comics allright, show is weak) i've hated that whole series save for the Trigon stuff

So does anyone know, if JLU is done?

I have seen a few mentions on other boards of the production staff leaving, but I haven't seen an actual articale on JLU's fate.

Heck the JLTower blog, stops in November....sigh I really don't want that show to go away

That article isn't saying anything that Wizard didn't already say, so with those sources, I'd say that Titans and JLU are secure for a while.

In Wizard they even mentioned that we'd finally get to see the Titans origin story (which should finally answer the question of TT/JLU continuity... and with the same voice for Kid Flash as Flash, I'm betting they're related.)

Well, we've got good news and bad news. The good news is that the next episodes start airing in Februrary. The bad news? They're gonna be the final episodes. The door is closing on the Timm and Dini-verse as the Justice League Unlimited gets the ax. http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=22326 Really, more and more shows that I used to watch on Cartoon Network get cancelled as we're left with shows that rely more on style than substance. I remember when Cartoon Network first came on, watching G-Force and Thundercats and even the beginnings of Dragonball Z, edited all to heck. Here's to SeaLab, Cartoon Planet, Samurai Jack, Teen Titans, Home Movies, Reboot, and now Justice League Unlimited. Thank you Bruce Timm and Paul Dini for the shows and all the great geek moments within.

That really aint cool.

echopryme
01/29/2006, 13:37
Okay... on the one hand, that really sucks for 3 reasons.

1. First and foremost, it means that companies are strait LYING to fans through publications like Wizard, and that where I go to find out what's happening, not wishful thinking.

2. What??? You mean that they're going to have to resolve the whole Hawkman thing in 22 minutes? A thousand generations of history resolved in 22 minutes?! Well, once again Hawks get a screw job.

3. What am I going to do on Saturday nights now that I'm sober?

But, it does spell good news for two reasons.

1. There was NO WAY they were going to top Season 2. It just wasn't going to happen, at least not without putting CoIE on a TV screen. And watching them attempt it, all the while remembering how cool Season 2 was, would really take the series down with it.

2. The Legion of Super Heroes spinoff. You wanna talk big ### epic scale action? There are just as many, if not more, Legion members as there were in the JLU, and because it's all the same title, they'll have the rights to ALL of them. And the Legion are obsessed with 20th and 21st century superheroes... I'll bet on more than a few JLU cameos. (Oh, amn... wouldn't it be cool if they went back and re-played that Superman episode during LSH where they made an appearance? They could tie it all right back together.)

echopryme
01/29/2006, 13:44
Oh... one more reason it sucks, but I'm holding out hope for a movie on this one...

I WANT TO SEE A JLU/TEEN TITANS TEAM-UP!!!!!

If for no other reason than to finally answer the question of continuity. Robin IS Grayson in Teen Titans, and Beast Boy left the Doom Patrol not so long ago, so I still say Teen Titans fell between BtAS and Gotham Knights. If so, then you could drop Teen Titans in JLU's world by making Grayson Nightwing. Wally had left to become Flash sometime after he changed.

I recognized Ultra Boy, Apparation, Saturn Girl, Livewire, Spark, Brainiac 5.1 and Triad. The rest are a blurr.

In order from left-to-right:

Saturn Girl, Clark Kent (as this is from the LSH episode of "Superman"), Ultra Boy, Apparition, Dream Girl, Garth (technically Live Wire at the time it was filmed - which is why Chameleon was sent to the 20th Century in his place to avoid character confusion to the viewers), Ayla (Light Lass outfit), Brainiac 5, Triad, Bouncing Boy, Kid Quantum (James), and Andromeda (Laurel Gand)

St-Dumas
01/29/2006, 23:00
That is Dream Girl. Why does it look like she's hitting on Garth? Isn't he married to Irra and she's dating Star Boy? Or is that just an abstract observation?

Nobody has posted about this episode yet? I thought it was pretty good. Not one of the best, but okay as a stand-alone episode. Loved that the Rogues made an appearance, but they seemed pretty inept, didn't they? echopryme
02/12/2006, 11:09
It was a good episode, all in all, but this is why I said that there is just no way to top season 4. I've seen the next two, "Dead Reckoning" and "Patriot Act", as well and so far the best one from this season has been Patriot Act... and that's because it ties back to Season 4 (and Speedy, but that's just a personal thing for me).

It seems too all over the place, really. Maybe that's the problem. First we have the Society (I know that some people are calling it the Legion of Doom, but there are WAY more members to this thing. It's the Society in all but name), then we have Hawkman the possible crazed stalker, then Warlord shows up and the series sets up the idea that the villains have something that shuts their minds down if they try to talk, then more of the same, then Flash's Rogues show up and act like sitcom dads (except for Trickster, who's a kid on Ritalin) and sets up that Flash is cool, which we hardly needed selling on thanks to "Divided We Fall." Then Deadman, the 7 Soldiers (kinda), the plot from a Dudley Moore movie, an all-out hot-chick luche tournament, The Legion of Superheroes, Hawkman again, then an all villain episode (strange since it's the next to last) and then... god only knows what.

Now, I'm not complaining, but you have to admit that Season 4 will be the one we all remember.

JGonspy
02/12/2006, 11:23
If this season had taken what it did in the last two episodes and made a season out of that, I think it would have been a whole lot better then season 4 myself. And they do refer to it as the Society a few times so you're right on the money with that.

I also thought The Great Brain Robbery was one of the funniest episodes I've ever seen. The only one I enjoyed as much was the Booster Gold episode from season 3.

I totally dug this episode. Some might want the Wally of the comics, but this was a great take on Flash/the museum/the Rogues/Linda. It was just plain fun.

I just love Orion being part of it as well. And Bats is well, Bats. You can't really point to any one thing in this episode as a disappointment.

Pure fun.

St-Dumas
02/12/2006, 13:45
Orion: How can you be manipulated into going...
(Batman looks at him sternly)
Orion: ...is it black tie?

That episode was great. Flash pulling out the costume ring, Flash's talk with Trickster, Orion and Batman just being generally awesome and, most importantly, Captain Boomerang's flight attendant costume. Great episode.

Granite Moose
02/12/2006, 14:33
Frontman, I think you nailed it with the "Pure fun." quote. This isn't one of the deeper, hidden meaning episodes, it's just celebrating the character of the Flash. Compare how he interacts with his city and its people as compared to how the heroes are usually portrayed. You can bet Batman wouldn't be stopping by to paint somebody's fence.

I forgot to mention before that I loved Orion's appearance also. Nice to see him actually have a role rather than be one of the guys passing by in the background.

echopryme
02/12/2006, 14:50
Yeah, Orion is cool. Too bad that they didn't really bring him in until the end of the show, though. There was some great stuff they could have done with the Fourth World. But then again, I guess they did it all in Superman.

Anyway, it was a fun episode, and I dig the fact that they're starting to work Titans stuff into JLU a little (Kid Flash costume in the museum, Speedy in Patriot Act, Nightwing in Grudge Match...).

Really? I thought Alive had the biggest shocker. Although I can understand if you haven't seen that one yet. Second favourite episode behind the Great Brain Robbery. That line in the washroom still makes me laugh.

Dead Reckoning was a great one too. Wish we could have seen more of Deadman throughout the season, or even in earlier ones.

Just got around to posting about Dead Reckoning from the other night. I love that Deadman made it to JLU. I also liked how they portrayed the character, seemed very much in line from what I remember him from the comics. Wow, been a long time since I read something with him in it.

Interesting ending with Batman. Won't spoil it for those of you who haven't seen in yet, but I wonder if this will be continued throughout the season? What do others who have since this episode think?

Where's Black Manta? I thought that's who he was at first.

Good episode. Wish more of the JL had gone to Gorilla City though.

I'm with you on the Black Manta/Devil Ray issue. It appears to be their version of Black Manta with him shooting those trident projectile/bullets.

I also would have liked a fuller squad for the knockdown, dragout fight in Gorilla City. Or at least more shots of the Gorillas going at it. That would have been pretty cool to see some hand-to-hand gorilla fighting.

You can find the episode you missed (along with some others) at www.torrentspy.com (http://www.torrentspy.com)

They even have the very last episode which I watched last night. Was pretty good, but I'm gonna miss that show. I wish they could have stretched those last two eps into a couple of more. Oh, and anyone else who watches it should be on the look out for a very slight cameo of someone from another comic company.

I can't get torrent to work. I dunno what I'm doing! lol.

You'll need the BitTorrent (http://www.bittorrent.com/) program you can pick up here. You don't need to run it, the thing imbeds itself into your system and is activated once you start downloading something. It works by sharing a specific file with other users, in this case an episode of JLU. Because of that, your transfer speed may go up or down, but it usually builds the more you share.

Once you're a bit more experienced you can use more sophisticated programs, but for now that should be all you need.

Just watched Destroyer. Lot of good scenes but even with the League taking out enemies left and right, it was all about Lex. He was great from beginning to end. Wish they would have explained just what happened to Brainiac though. But the show still suffered from being way too short. Everything was forced to happen much too fast for a threat of that magnitude. And the ending scene was a bit too cheesy for my taste. Plus Supes was so........."loose" with his words. It just seemed odd. I mean really. "Lex flippin' Luthor"?

And that one scene with Batman? Okay. Fine. Batman CANNOT be beaten. EVER. That must have been a fanboy's wet dream. I can't wait for people to explain how the next Heroclix Batman figure deserves a 25 defense for that "trick" he pulled. Come on. The writers should have known better than that.

But that aside, still a great episode. Not the best but still very good. Supes should have let loose a longer though. The way he was talking I thought he was going to throw a planet or something. :p

It certainly is.

***Spoilerish talk coming up***

And I definitely agree about the Batman's little trick. How many times faster is Superman then Batman? How about the Flash? I guess Darkiac had his Omega Beams set to low speed or something. And I also think Darkseid had dominated Brainiac which is why it seemed to be all him. At least it seemed that way based on how Luthor was talking to him. Wish that episode had been stretched into two or three though.

Just saw Destroyer too, and it's an excellent end to an excellent series. I didn't find the last scene cheesy (maybe if you watch it for the third time, it could be.. ^_^), I saw it as a fitting 'farewell' tribute.

**** SPOILER ALERT ****

I specially loved the "summons" scene! Though I agree with the earlier posts, it's much too short for the story, but I guess they have to make the best out of that 22 minutes. You'd think Darkseid would bring in Granny Goodness and the rest of the gang. Batman's escape from the Omega Beam looked alright to me, if you watch it again, the speed is just right - animation wise. "Flippin'" -- we all know what it was really supposed to be... ^_^ but they can't say that on JLU. I also like the return of _______, that was really unexpected. I guess my only complaint would be, why would Sinestro help defend the Earth, i just reasoned out that he's from the old Legion of Doom =) And my biggest problem with that episode is.. is that it should not be the last. =(

****** END SPOILER ALERT ******

Now we wait for the new animated superhero toon... heroes fighting aliens on the first episode... wait, white aliens... no wait.. white shapeshifting aliens..... hmmm... why does that sound so familiar... LOL, kidding aside, i placed an advance order for it...

web quote from Paul Dini who "supposedly" knows about JLU

I did an on camera interview with Bruce, David (Jimmy Olsen) Kaufman, Glen Murakami and Alan Burnett last night for the next (and last) SUPERMAN DVD set. Afterwards we went to dinner where Glen confirmed the end of TITANS, and Bruce said pretty much the same about JLU. There has been some talk about the JLU episodes airing earlier in the states, but that was still being debated at Cartoon Network. I forgot to ask Bruce how my Supergirl episode came out. Maybe I can get a preview if I'm at WB any time soon.

I had heard people were getting more territorial with certain DC characters (no more Joker in JLU, for instance) but I didn't know the details. I knew two years ago when I left, that as heroes (and their villains) got snapped up in live movie options, it tended limited their appearances elsewhere.

full thread: http://kingofbreakfast.livejournal.com/15770.html?thread=196762#t196762

I picked up some DVD-R disc to move the downloaded Justice League stuff I got off of my harddrive and play it on my DVD player. However, the files I have are in video clip format, how do I convert them to DVD compatible format?

Thanks in advance. Waiting a few more hours to watch "Patriot Act" on TV......

JGonspy
02/25/2006, 23:49
Well you need a special program to encode the files, not just the dvds to dump them on. If you have something like Nero Burning Rom then you can create a video disc under a listing of the other formats available. Check out whatever program you burn your discs with in regards to making a video disc.

Just so you know, depending on how much you're burning and how fast your computer is, the encoding process where the format of the file is changed can take a long time. To burn two JLU episodes on to a cd took me about 45 minutes with my computer which is about 2.0 GHz which can give you some kind of a time frame for the thing. When you start just make sure you've got somethign else to do for the next little while.

I find it difficult to believe I am this content with an episode of JLU. I always wanted to see the General, but I never thought I could be this happy. Not only was I happy about his incredible power, regenerative capabilities and excrutiatingly pratriotic disposition, but watching his rampage brought back fond memories of the Incredible Hulk video game.

And the rest of the leaguers were cool and used there no-powers to do stuff and Speedy was nice to see and blah blah blah the General is flaming awesome.

First, there's a flashback to when someone was about to use a super soldier serum to create a Captain Nazi. A golden age hero named Spymasher (I think) comes in and beats up the Germans, then takes the syringe with the serum and flies off into the sunset. Then, we zoom into the present where General Eiling is reading the report on it. Then, we cut to the theme song.

I don't feel like explaining the rest. The point is, the General is flaming awesome.

The only semi-disappointment I had with the episode was the ending. I understand where they were going by having the General realize he was exactly what he was complaining about, but I wanted to see the non-superpowered heroes actually defeat him. By not having them defeat him in battle, it in essence proved his argument that "only power matters". Just my opinion, and it most certainly did not lessen my enjoyment too much.

That was a great ending to a great series. Timm and Co. get better all the time. Here's hoping that the Legion of Super-Heroes is as good, if not even better, than JLU was. It just goes to show that comic properties, be it a cartoon or a movie or anything else, MUST be handled by comic people.

The General is as strong as Superman. Unkillable, etc.

Grant Morrison was responsible for The General's creation in early JLA comics.

I don't know if you remember Shaggy Man, but that is who The General really is.

General Eiling transferred his mind into Shaggy Man's body and the JLA had to battle this nigh-unstoppable being.

After another story-arc by Grant Morrison, the Shaggy Man lost all his hair, hence The General's current look.

Following ro-gan's comments, The General/Shaggy Man didn't really get beat by heroes with powers in the comics, either. The league always had to resort to teleporting him away to an asteroid or trapping him somehow.

02/28/2006, 16:01
There was also an episode where Slade says Robin will some day view him as a father, Robin replies I already have one (or something like that) camera pans up to see Bats flutter away. (Infering that he's referencing Batman)

Also, when Robin journey's to find the true master, at one point his opponents say the that Robin needs to learn from the best, and Robin said he already has. (An inference again)

St-Dumas
02/28/2006, 21:26
There was one more. They had a flashback episode called "Go" where Robin abushes a criminal in a Batman fashion of jumping out of the darkness with a bunch of bats fluttering. The criminal says "Hey, this isn't your town! Aren't you supposed to be with..." Robin cuts him off and says, "Just moved here. And from now on, I work alone."

Enough about the Titans. Back to the General and his awesomeness.

I loved seeing Mr. Terrific and Red Tornado get a little more involved in the storyline also. Nice to see them not just be background characters all the time. I do miss Martian Manhunter, but I'm more and more liking that Mr. Terrific is taking over his area. And Dr. Fate was integral to the plot also. Sorry, but no hope. The best you can hope for is that the Teen Titans Tokyo movie has great ratings and the DVD sells REALLY well and they decide to do the same with Justice League. Cartoon Network has aquired the rights to air Ultimate Avengers, Ultimate Avengers 2, and Iron Man though, so it's possible they'll just start doing comic movies themselves, better and cheaper.

Basically... go to the Cartoon Network site and tell them why they should do it. Oh, and go to the DC boards and let them know not to be such hard asses about their properties (Devil Ray instead of Black Manta because JLU wasn't allowed to use anything having to do with Aquaman this season, ect...).

Meanwhile, if you haven't aready seen it... you'll see what Legion's going to be like in a couple of weeks.

Granite Moose
03/12/2006, 08:08
Yeah, when Black Canary first pulled into Bludhaven and you see Nightwing overlooking, I thought he was going to make an appearance. Too bad.

Still a very good episode. Kind of interesting that Vixen and Shayera were paired together as a team with their history. Loved when Wonder Woman shows up and the other four are basically going, "Ah, ####".

Huntress needs to be in this show more often. She totally kicks butt. I feel they really did a good job with the banter between her and Black Canary.

Dammit. I was hoping that #### came in to save the day. It seems like he doesn't even know what's going on in his own city...

Nah Nightwing was there in the crowd. He was the one fella who had the white hair, handlebar moustache and a fat suit on. Sheesh. Surely you saw through his disguise as easily as I did. ;)

As it currently stands, Nightwing probably has nothing to do with the League and the same with Barbara/Batgirl; if you extrapolate comments made by Barbara during the era of Batman Beyond.

As far as seeing more of Black Canary/Huntress, it really won't happen. The show is over in 4 more episodes, and looking at the episodes descriptions, they might be in them via cameos, but no full blown roles.

Going to miss this show when it ends. Very well done.

Why the hell are they cancelling this series?

It's quality television. It's mature enough for adults to enjoy, yet still keeps younger kids entertained.

From what I see, the ratings are phenominal, too. /shrug

Were they? I was hoping they were really good, but I assumed that they had to be lower than I'd been thinking if the show was getting cancelled. Where did you go to find the ratings listed?

Frontman
03/12/2006, 16:26
Part of the reason the show is ending that the show's producers are ready to move on. Bruce Timm alone has worked close to 15 years on DC animation productions, and I guess would like to do something else.

As far as ratings, CN doesn't care about ratings as much as the cost of the show versus the return on the show. JLU probably is one of their top rated shows, but since it isn't 2/3/4th run like that carpy anime they have on, they make more money off of airing "Bo Bo, boobobo boob" or whatever the smeg that thing is compared to having 3 times the audience watching JLU. They probably pay only a 1/10th of what they pay for JLU to whatever Japanese import company sells them the rights to the Japanese anime.

Hmm. I kinda thought I'd miss the episode last night, but appearently it wasn't even on... Kids and I watched Spirited Away, which we all thought was awesome. It was the last straw when CN announced a new episode of BoBo though, and we all went off to our cozy beds.

Spirited Away is an excellent movie, and I'm glad CN showed it. My problem is they moved BoBo-whatever into JLU's slot because of the movie. Just don't show BoBo. Would that have been a major loss to it's 2 fans?

Actually the worst part is I have digital cable which allows you to look days ahead at the schedule, and up to Friday it showed JLU on after Spirited Away. Then, suddenly, on Friday at some point JLU disappears and I see that BoBo-butthead is going to be on. Talk about setting me up for a fall. :(

Digital cable listings are not always accurate. I wound up missing some episodes last year because I trusted in it. Meh.

You can download the episodes from the 'Net. I am looking forward to seeing them on TV though. Only a 19 inch monitor, nice big 27 inch tv.

I'd still like to find the program director for CN and B-slap his/her sorry arse, once for every episode of every bad Japanamation malarky they've aired since "Batman Beyond" went over to CN.

That'd be Yoshio Sawai. His manga is...intersting, and it's beyond me how it got turned into an anime, but I suppose the best way of showing CN what you think is to change the channel. JLU Returns April 15th
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Justice League Unlimited returns to Toonami's Saturday night line up on April 15th at 10:30pm (ET) with "Far From Home." It's preempted on April 22nd for a Cartoon Network movie ("Ultimate Avengers"), but returns on April 29th with "Ancient History."

No airdates for the series finale two-parter "Alive!" and "Destroyer" have been set, though they are expected to follow the weeks after "Ancient History." We'll update once we have confirmed airdates.

It was what I expected: a simple, straightforward story, not much character development and some entertaining fight scenes. The thing is essentially building up for a sequel, which is going to happen.

JGonspy

Ultimate Avengers had a story? I thought it was just aliens show up and Avengers fight them. If it hadn't been dumb fun, it would've bugged me that the story seemingly had no thought but into it. Like I said, a solid story. It didn't have huge amounts of development, it was a great intro story. And I felt they had quite a bit to accomplish in that first film, which they did. That just states that you can't see Fantastic Four anywhere else, not that you won't find any other's companies shows on there. Now, DC/Time Warner may have seen this and decided they don't want to have their shows packed with a Marvel show. I think a lot of things are pointing toward that it was Time Warner that decided to pull the plug on Teen Titans and JLU. And we knew it was almost certainly going to be the last season for JLU even before the season started airing, and Teen Titans fate was known before that.

echopryme
04/04/2006, 21:21
I'm just looking at it like this..

CN gets the rights to Ultimate Avengers an Ultimate Avengers 2, then the Fantastic Four cartoon. Plus we know that Marvel is making bopth Iron Man and Dr. Strange animated features, and I've heard rumors about Power Pack becoming a kids series.

It seems to me that Marvel may have underbid Timm and Co. and CN knows that it has DC by the coin-purse anyway because they're both oned by Time Warner, making DC give it's parent company first rights to it's properties.

Might it be okay? Maybe. But it still kinda sucks that DC has to be SOOOOO tight with their properties.

Granite Moose
04/05/2006, 06:42
Well it's possible that it was a matter of focused underbidding by Marvel, it's not necessarily that. JLU ended because Timm said he was ready to move on to something else, and quite frankly, I don't think I would have wanted somebody else trying to run it after him. I don't know that it's ever officially been said who decided to end Teen Titans, but I could be wrong. Plus, isn't the new Legion of Super Heroes series going to be on Cartoon Network?

As far as the Fantastic Four cartoon, it could be cool and help towards easing our loss of JLU.

Just one thing about the announcement and the promo picture Marvel posted: Did Thing have a "4" painted on his chest or is that some kind of tattoo?

Superman: So, this boy Kara likes; what's his name?
(GA and GL look concerned)

I loved Far From Home. It's almost everything I could ask for in a Legion episode. If they mentioned more Legionnaires by name and had a better sidekick then Bouncing Boy, then it would have been perfect. But it was still awesome.

Granite Moose
04/16/2006, 20:01
You know, to me it just seemed okay. Now take into account that I'm not the greatest Legion fan, but still. Maybe it's because of the long layoff I was hoping for a complete kick-butt episode.
With that said, I still enjoyed the show. However, it seemed like after all the difficulty the heroes had with the Five to begin with, they defeated them quite easily at the end. And I will say that if this is really serving as a kind of set-up for a new Supergirl and the Legion series, then it was done quite well in that aspect.

Now the previews that showed the next Hawkman episode with Gentleman Ghost are just the thing that will get me excited about future episodes of JLU.

And I do have to admit that the ending was great with the looks GL and GA exchanged in response to Superman's question.

That being said, I'm with Frontman in that the episode seemed a little off. They tried to tie up a few loose ends and didn't really succeed. Too bad, because they had a good opportunity for a really good story here.

I did appreciate the Teth Adam reference, but then found myself hoping they had gone in the direction of bringing Black Adam into the series. Oh well, probably too much for one episode.

A few comments on last night's JLU (04/29/06):

1) I nearly shat when I saw Geoff Johns had worked on the episode!

2) Teth-Adam and Hath-Set introductions were very nice to see.

3) The beginning of the episode started out nicely with GL John Stewart using his Ring creatively with the catcher's mitt and a couple other things. But, sadly, he reverted to type the rest of the episode and just fired bolts from the Ring. Ho-Hum!

4) I was disappointed that the episode hinted that John Stewart was also back in Pharoah times with Katar and Shayera. If that wasn't him then it sure was his voice. And, if it was Stewart than my hatred for his character has just doubled.

Hooking up with another person's mate. How scum-like. And, Hawkgirl is an adulteress. How scum-like.

I still love the JLU, but my hatred for John and Shayera knows no bounds now.

And, for those of you wondering why this irks me so--

On the other hand, the next few episodes completely make up for any faults in this one. I don't want to oversell the last two episodes, but if the whole season had been about them I would have been happy. I wish they had more time to squeeze in all the awesomeness.

Yeah, but they broke up for whatever reason. He moved on to be with Vixen.

Shayera should respect that and leave their relationship alone until and not try to break them up as she is plainly doing.

And, like John mentioned about the son thing in the future when he and Shayera last talked-

He'll want to be with her because he wants to be with her. Not because the future says they have to be together.

The future is not set in stone. Space/Time runs like a huge torrential river. Just because they have a son in the future doesn't mean they are dating/married/whatever.

They could have had a drunken one-night stand in the future and Shayera got pregnant from John. That doesn't mean they are a couple. John could just as easily still be with Vixen or somone else.

Or, since this is comic book/tv world--

An evil alien with god-like powers could have sadistically kidnapped a bunch of JLAers during a future battle. And, while they are prisoner he/she/it could have had some fun. Who's to say he doesn't impregnate Shayera with John's seed in manner that doesn't require sex? Or, if he/she/it is truly evil [I.E.: the Purple Man from Marvel] then he might possess one or the other or both and make them have sex.

There are so many ways that John and Shayera have a child together. Being a couple is just one of many. Also, who's to say that future wasn't an alternate timeline? If so, then that means John and Shayera might never have a child together.

"I don't even know who this is."

Just under 4 hours here on the East coast until "Destroyer". Man, am I pumped for this episode. I kind of wish it was an old-school one hour version of the show.

Who else is looking for major mayhem with Darkseid and his minions?

JLU, the Timm/Tini reign and the whole of half-decent DC animation is over.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111oneoneoneoneoneoneoneone

Destroyer was still great. I loved it when Superman just let loose on Darkseid. Plus, J'onn finally came back! Thank you Jeebus!

There were many good parts in this episode. J'onn coming back, Supes letting loose, Bats dodging the Omega Beams, the fight scenes with parademons everywher. Plus, was it just me or did Ice's transformation remind anyone else of the Iceman transformation in the old Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends? Also, this exchange:
Supes: "Five minutes? You must be getting soft."
Bats: "Don't you have a building to leap over?"

The one bad part: Lex saving the day. Sorry, but I just don't need Lex to come and be the hero. It would have been much more appropriate for the heroes, especially Superman, to drive Darkseid to defeat. Just my opinion, but it left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.

Agreed. Many things bothered me about the Lex/Source Wall/Darkseid 'resolution':

1) We saw zero motivation for Lex's (final) actions...I mean, we didn't even get a gloating look from him!

2) So if all it takes is a "12th level intelligence"...why is Darkseid ever bothering with the 'brute force' approach..why isn't he 'recruiting' help?

3) In my recollection of the Kirby Mythos...the Anti-Life equation is a "bad thing"...that is, achieving it usually has direct, immediate negative consequences for the 'wielder'...I just don't believe that Lex would have been all 'touchy feely/shiny happy'with it...or that Darkseid would have just been enamored of it.

Despite the episode's resolution, I thought it was a great way to end the 'universe', especially with the different Justice League eras leaving together...down to the founding seven...to the three "bosses" (as my son calls them)...to the final zoom to the original (Bat) symbol.

I think Lex just wanted to take out Darkseid, or at least find a way to get Brainiac. To those ends, he would do whatever it took to stop him. And I'm pretty sure Darkseid didn't know how to find the anit-life equation as it was a secret guarded by Metron. And the equation itself seems to keep changing whenever it's brought up. I haven't read much of the original version of it, but the various interpretations on Wikipedia was enough to confuse me.

I'm still not sure about that one. If it were Super"girl" and the Legion of Superheroes, I'd be all for it. The look of the animation and the tone of the stories might be more Teen Titans-esque, but as long as it followed, in "spirit", the Justice League episode where Supergirl joins up, I'd be completely excited for it. As it is, I'm feeling a little more cautious.

I'm not saying that it will be bad. I'm just saying that I really, really, really wish that it wasn't Superboy.
