there's NO strategy, save beating the carp out of each other.
It's simple enough that there's no need to memorize complex special moves and combos.
It's "King of the Hill" with some of the greatest Nintendo characters around.
This is the Super Smash Bros. Melee thread.

I was, for two years, a Capt. Falcon specialist. Eventually I was banned from using him ever again. I have now realized that Zelda/Shiek is one of the best characters in the game.
I have gone unbeaten with the way I play her.
If I'm playing a stocked lives game, I start with Zelda and play her till I'm at half my original lives. Her forward Smash and drop kick are both DEVASTATING moves, and people are afriad to throw objects at you with her reflector shield.
Once your opponent is used to your game, down and B yourself onto Shiek and use her dash attack (tap to run, then press A as you approach your opponent). Some people are still expecting her to have a reflector, so they are wary to use objects at range, and her speed is equal to Capt. Falcon and Falco.
LOVE HER.

does anyone know how to use that evil ultimate smash with Jigglypuff?

I hated him til i realized you could swallow your opponent then jump off the edge, drop him to his death, then float back.
you don't get credit for the kill, but you can definately knock down someones chances of winning.
Yoshi can be used to the same effect.

I like that move, but you can make some real enemies with it.
I wish the little local con happened this year. It's at a high school, not very big at all, but they did a smash brothers tourney at it each year. That's always a blast.
And the cos play girls are always fun to look at. ;)

You do his B attack and say "Take my pill". Annoys the hell outta everyone.
Jigglypuffs super smash is her down special move, you have to trigger it when you are essentially on top of your target. I think it is a pretty lame a broken move personally.
On the subject of Kirby a fun thing I do with him sometimes is swallow people and walk off the map, it doesn't net you any wins, but man is it amuseing.

you're so lucky. I can hardly find 3 other people to play it on a semi-regular basis.
however, when I was in Tokyo, we only ever sang a total of 2-3 hours a day. We were a barbershop quartet, which made it easy to have a full melee every time. When we weren't singing, we were Smashing it up. Disney had us putting in 9 hour days...

Problem with all Nintendo games is that they are so poorly designed that after about an hour of play, you're sick of getting hosed by the same characters.

I have perfected Jigglypuff.....her Down + B attack is so devastating in team battles. i can still hear the cries of my victims mwahhahahaha.
And my favourite character is Ganondrorf.....HES SO HARD !!!
And i love it when youre at least one life ahead on stock with DK and you grab them and walk off the edge. heh heh

Link is my favorite, but Game & Watch is a lot of fun to play. I like to turn all of the items off but the bomb-omb, the proxy mine, the homerun bat, and the superscope. Give everyone playing a large amout of live and let the carnage begin.

Ganondorf for me. I love runnin towards my opponent, double-jump backwards, Wizard Foot. Pulls nicely into other combos, because if you do it right, the fly into the air.

Super Smash Bros, in one form or another, has been my favorite game since its release. I was exclusively a Kirby player back when the original came out, but since Melee came out I've branched out to using Fox, Mario, Luigi, Dr. Mario, Zelda/Shiek on occasion, Game & Watch and Jigglypuff just for fun... yeah, I play a lot. :grin:
As for Jiggly's super attack? Well, I like to reserve it for when someone does a move where there's a delay in their animation either right before or right after their attack (i.e. sneak in right before Ganondorf's Warlock Punch, right after one of the Mario family's Fireball attacks, jump up and get Peach as she's floating down with the umbrella). Make sure that when you execute the attack, Jigglypuff is at least overlapping the person you're attacking (the guides say that their middles both need to be touching, but I've found that you can stretch it a bit).

Definitely Link for me.The Bow and Arrow owns all. If not him, then (Dr.) Mario. The cape is just devasting and so useful.
I always pick characters at random. This way I'm decent with everone, Although my specialties are Link, Fox and Peach.

Best gamecube game ever! This game was being played by someone in my room at least 20 hours a day every day for almost a year!
I am the master of Roy. My friends were unable to ever beat me 1 on 1, so I started experimenting with other characters.
Once while we were playing one of us joked that Jigglypuff is the best character in the game, but nobody knows how to use him. Well I tried him for the hell of it and accidentally stumbled on his sleep move. Guess he is the best!
I'm basically unstoppable with Roy, but Jigly is a whole lot more effective. The only thing is that he's a lot harder to use.
I have also gotten pretty good with Link, but he's a finesse character. None of his moves do excessive amounts of damage, but he's fast and has good options for both ranged combat and melee.

I hate Ganondorf, but I like Captain Falcon. Is that weird considering that they are basically the same?

Items are awesome because they're funny. Donkey Kong is dealing damage...with a flower! Jigglypuff with a giant hammer! But for playing purposes, items are cheap. Fun, but cheap.
Hey St-Dumas, remember that Smash thread we were working on with the clix stats for the characters? I still have all of my notes and stuff that I did.
This thread reminded me of it, and I'm looking over them now.
So much flack for giving Kirby and Pikachu Perplex....
I still love my Veteran Mr. Game and Watch, though! His LE was cool, too.

I heard from a friend in class that there are plans to make SSBM online play capable.
I dont remember whether or not he said it was just an addition, or if its gonna be a big overhaul of the game with new characters.
I had heard rumors at one time, that they were going to add the sonic characters since they are now nintendo property.
we will see, i guess...

Last I checked, Sega still owns Sonic outright. Unless there's been some sort of recent development that is...
That sounds like a sequel to me. A sequel inasmuch as Super Street Fighter 2 was a sequel to Street Fighter 2 (or rather, Street Fighter 2 Turbo if you wanna get particular), where gameplay and graphics remain largely the same, but with the addition of new characters and maybe new features. Doesn't sound likely to me, but just the same I'll keep my fingers crossed. Love to see anything new SSB-wise.

you could use some of the Legendary Pokemon (Lugia, Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno) as uniques. also, you could use the Master Hand as a Unique or the Big Fig for the set.

My set does need to be tweaked. Giga Bowser whould be Galactus Sized, and the hands Sentinel sized, with Giant Bowser as the big figure in the set.
But now who do I use for those uniques?

The Fighting Polygon Team guys weren't divided into male and female. Each one was a copy of one of the regular fighters. Besides that though, the lists look very interesting.

About your list, I think that Pichu and Dr. Mario should be REV like all the other playable characters. Besides that, it looks graet. If you want 2 more Bystanders, May I suggest Mr. Saturn and the flying Shyguys from the Yoshi's Island level

Why thank you. I've been considering starting up a new one, but lately school's been crazy. Maybe during the summer I can dredge up some of the dials I thought were really good from the last thread and start over again.
I have a SSBM question. I have completed everything there is to complete except the event matches. Anyways, I am having trouble with event 35, "Time for a checkup". This is the one where you are Luigi and you have to face Dr. Mario and Peach. the problem?, I'm horrible with Luigi. The closest I've come so far is when Peach willed herself.:( Does anyone know of an effective way to use Luigi?

Luigi's down+A (down smash) move is pretty tough, and it has a longer reach than Mario's. Also his over+B charge move is tough, and a great way to get back onto the board if you get thrown pretty far.
his grab throw is tough as well.

Smash Bros. 3-D Objects and Rules!
1. Home Run Bat – This is treated as a light object in terms of throwing. If you give the character carrying this object a close combat action, you may choose to use the standard light object rules, or you may choose to do a Smash attack. If you choose to make a Smash attack, make an attack roll at a –3 to attack, and reduce the character’s damage value to zero. If the attack is successful, the target is automatically KOed and removed from the game. After attack resolution, give the character with the bat one click of damage that cannot be prevented and remove the bat from the game. All characters may pick up the Home Run Bat whether they have Super Strength or not.
2. Mr. Saturn – Once during each player’s turn, you may move Mr. Saturn one space in any direction. Mr. Saturn is treated per standard rules of a light object, but this object token can never be destroyed by any means. Mr. Saturn may still be the target of an attack, but instead of receiving damage, Mr. Saturn suffers knockback (even knockback damage) as per the standard rules. All characters may pick up Mr. Saturn, whether they have Super Strength or not.
3. Freezie – This object follows the standard light object rules. In addition, if a successful attack is made, give the target an action token. All characters may pick up Freezie whether they have Super Strength or not.
4. Crate – This object follows standard heavy object rules. In addition, when this item is discarded from play, you may place one light object from out of the game into play.
5. Barrel – This object follows the standard heavy object rules. In addition, when this object is used in a ranged attack, you may choose to make one Energy Explosion attack instead of the standard heavy object attack.
6. Beam Saber – This object follows the light object rules. In addition, when used in a close combat attack, reduce the characters damage value to one and ignore all defense powers for the attack. This object is not discarded unless thrown or otherwise destroyed.

Luigi's down+A (down smash) move is pretty tough, and it has a longer reach than Mario's. Also his over+B charge move is tough, and a great way to get back onto the board if you get thrown pretty far.
his grab throw is tough as well.
give that a shot.

Oh, for 50, I suggest Yoshi with his down+A move.
49, just use someone you're good with. I can offer no help there. Should be easy, though. It is Pichu on there, after all.

In all honesty, I own Link/samus/Roy. I think it has to do with the way your mind works, all of the characters have powers that work well together, but you can't play any 3 characters the same way. I prefer the multi talented melee-ers. Mixing up arrows, bombs, and trips with Link, or charged up shots grabs and missiles with samus, I like to out pace opponents forcing them to either begin button mashing or try and keep up with blocks and counters.
DF77 - I have super respect for your playing zelda/sheik, I always find myself sticking to one form and losing a whole set of powers. Me no good think.

I can't give much advice 4 u because if I can ever choose the character I use Luigi. Yes, that's right, for all events that I could choose the character (even 51 and I have finished them all) I used Luigi and I don't have any advice for any of the other characters. Srry. :o

I beat event match 50 with Donkey Kong's up+B over and over. He's hard to knock off and his move is very reliable.
My favorite characters are: Peach and Jigglypuff. But...I'm gay, so maybe that's why...

pichu can dominate a game if there are tons of items. especially pokeballs. he gets to them faster than most, and they do all the fighting for him.
once their damage is high enough, you can smash them away.

Event 50 is easy if you use Jigglypuff. He can sleep blast everyone away. I have beaten it using him in as little time as 1:18.
I have seen other characters beat level 50, which is actually pretty hard to do. I have also beaten it using Link and Roy a few times. My roomate beat it using Luigi.

Ness' side smash (the bat) is actually really awesome. when you swing it a few times, people think you have a home run bat, so they leave you alone. It's also cool when you actually get a real bat, and they think its just your side smash move. They will keep you at a distance. Also, use that PK Fire and up the damage on your opponent, when you get a spare chance actually charge the side smash (tap over+A and hold). you will find that it is almost as strong as the real bat. I've taken down guys as big as Bowser with it.
Also, Peach's down smash (the spinning skirt attack) is as strong as Bowser's whirling fortress. my favorite thing to do is knock fox or falco off the edge. when the try to use their quick dash to get back on, I stand on the edge and use the whirling skirt attack. it catches them every time and reflects them right back off the board. heh.

I'll have to give everyone another look. Mine main problem is that I don't use the smash techs enough. Like never in the match. So the guy will have 300% damage but won't die.

Event 50 is hard if you dont have the right characters. They tend to push themselves over the edge so floating with peach or jiggly is a good option. I myself beat it with Ness by running to the side the jumping then turning around and using his PK thunder to send him like a missle back at all 3 who have gathered at the corner.

Ok so its come to my attention that.... FOX IS BROKEN!!! BROKENNNNNN!!!!!
What kind of sick character can KO someone when they are at 70% damage?!?! EH?!?! His up-smash attack completely owns everything. Add in the fact that he's like, the second fastest character with a rapid side smash that does like 15% damage, and he is the best character in the game IMO.
This came to my attention when a friend and I were playing today. I'm using my best character (Marth, who I've beaten lvl 51 and the 100 man melee with) and he gets me to a decent 72%. Then he up smashes. I die. WTF?! So I'm thinkin, "right, fluke. whatever." But noooooo, he does it AGAIN. and again. and then he's done it 5 times and the match is over. No matter what I try, I cant match Fox's speed and damage. Sooooo busted!!
Has anyone else run into this problem? Can anyone offer a suggestion to defeat this? (Keeping in mind that I despise items, and refuse to use them)
So ANNOYING. AAAAAAAAAAAAH.

Peach, Peach, Peach.
everytime fox gets near you do one of two things.
1) sitting B will bring up the Toad shield. Let him reflect his attack back onto you. Then move in with her explosive over+B move.
2) everytime Fox gets near you, light him up with the Spinning Skirt attack (downward smash). he won't easily kick you up anymore. and you can just sit in the air if he dues kick you up. float away and wait for a good item.
honestly anyone with a spinning attack is dangerous for Fox. Bowser, Young Link, and Pikachu have strong attacks like that as well as Peach.

When I was living in Tokyo, they released a limited edition Gamecube that was also a DVD player. Its bigger than the regular GC with lights, and LCD display screen, a remote control, and a mirror face. It was already more expensive than the regular GC, but I got it modded in Hong Kong to play all region DVD and GC games.
You could prolly still see them at lik-sang.com or somethin. just google it. its really pretty and awesome.

Whats even cooler/cheaper is what I call his "Shazam!" move: jump, do the fire fox thing (up B), and point down while over an opponent. It does some nice damage and can be hard to block, and sets you up for another attack. Then finish 'em off with a crazy smash attack.

I didn't know it was even announced yet. I heard a single passing rumor a month or two ago about it being an expansion to Melee (meaning exactly the same graphics,etc. but with more characters/stages), but that's all. This warrants a Google search... off! ::Flies off.::
I doubt theres a new Smash till Late 2006... Just in time to too cause theres a new Nintendo console.
Oh and Kirby is ALOT weaker now. IMO He was "baroken" in the N64...

Hey all...I'm proud to say that I can finally join this thread.
I'm a long time N64 Smash Bros player, and recently had a resurgence of playing. Then I started thinking...I really should get with the times and get myself one a them Game Cubes so I can play with even MORE character and with better grapihcs.
So, it was my two year anniversary last Friday, and guess what my girlfriend bought me? You got it, a beautiful shiny platinum GC complete with an extra controller and of course SUPER SMASH BROS MELEE!
On the N64 I was a definite Fox specialist, with Pikachu as my second. I'm finding Fox is still good on the GC, but a little harder to control (maybe I just need to get used to it). Pikachu definitely doesn't seem to be as good though.
Been trying out some of the new characters today, and was really very surprised with how good Peach is. She is AWESOME!! I really dominated while using her, and there's a good chance of her becoming my new favourite. I also like Bowser a lot as well...kinda like DK (who I always liked because he's a big monkey, even if he is tough to use) but Bowser can breathe fire! Yes! I also like his Slash n' Grab maneuveur.
Anyway, a few questions from a noobie...
What do I need to do to unlock all the secret characters and levels? So far I've only got Jiggly Puff (duh!). From the times I've played on others machines I remember I liked Roy, Marth and Mewtwo as well. Oh, and if theres an uber cheating way of unlocking them (ie. without earning it properly) I don't want to know about it.
Also, whats the point of the stupid flower that sticks flowers on people's heads? Does that make them slower or something?
And what does this super JigglyPuff smash do that I'm reading about? If it just sends them to sleep then I don't get it.
Also, what does everyone think about objects? Personally I like to have them on low or very low, as they bring a lot of luck into the game. I also like to get rid of the hammer and the star....too cheesey for my liking. ;)
Here's a couple. To get Marth, play vs. mode with all the original characters.
To get Luigi, play adventure mode. Finish the first match with a time that ends with 2. ex) 5:32 or 1:22 ect. In the next stage where you fight Perach and Mario, Luigi will take Mario's place. Finish off Peach and Luigi as quickly as possible (there is a time you have to beat, but I don't remember what it is). Then finish Adventure mode and Luigi is yours.

Jiggly's attack is her down B, when she put's herself to sleep. For this to work, she basically has to be on to of her opponants. When done right, she'll go to sleep, of they will go flying.

The way the official strategy guide phrases it is that Jigglypuff's center has to be touching the target's center. I don't think it's quite that sensitive, but you've gotta be overlapping pretty far in order to make it work.
Practice it though. Jigglypuff is more powerful than she's often given credit for.

How to unlock the rest of the characters:
Mewtwo: Play the game for more than 20 hours or play VS. mode 700 times
Mr.Game & Watch: Clear Classic and Adventure (or Target Test) with all all other characters (24 of them) or play 1000 Vs. Matches.
Dr.Mario: Use Mario to clear any of the 1 player modes without using a continue or play Vs. Mode 100 times.
Ganondorf: Clear Event Match 29 or play Vs. mode 600 times.
Young Link: Clear Adventure Mode with 10 different characters or play Vs. Mode 500 times.
Falco: Beat 100-Man Melee or play Vs. Mode 300 times.
Pichu: Clear Event Match 37 or play Vs. Mode 200 times.
Roy: Use Marth to clear Classic Mode without using a Continue or play 900 Vs. Matches.
Just try to unlock everything (including the nearl 300 trophies).
As for SSB3: There is no information on any sequel. A rumor came up that a DS version might be in the works. All speculation points to SSB3 being a Revolution launch title.

Thanks Magnito and icymatt. I'm definitely with you on wanting to unlock all the characters the 'proper' way. ;) No cheating here. I'll get started on all of those as quickly as possible. Might even let you all know how my progress is going.
How about the other levels? I got Brinstar Depths last night (a very cool level), which I assume was from playing a certain number of vs. matches.
For the ones where you have to finish a mode without continuing, can you increase the stock up to 5?
I tried out Jiggly's move last night and it is nice. Although, it's not a guaranteed KO if their % is low, and puts you at a huge disadvantage if you miss or there's anyone else nearby to whack you.
What does Peach's move do when she pulls out Toad? Is it a projectile reflector? Man, I love hitting people with that Frying Pan of hers. Makes the best sound ever! :p
Okay, here's the rest:
You unlock three more stages the same way you unlocked Brinstar Depths (every 50 vs. matches). They are: Fourside, Big Blue, and Poke Floats.
Mushroom Kingdom II: Get the Birdo Trophy
Flat Zone: Unlock Mr.Game&Watch
Battlefield: Clear All-Star Mode one with anybody.
Final Destination: Clear every Event Match
Dream Land (N64): Clear the Target Test with every character.
Yoshi's Island(N4): Hit Sandbag 1,323 feet or more in Home Run Derby.
Kongo Jungle(N64): Survive the 15-Minute Melee.
By the way, you get All-Star Mode by unlocking all the characters.
Okay, forgot to answer your second question: The number of Stock you have in the 1-Player modes does not matter. So, yes, you can use 5.
And Peach's Toad attack counters every attack. It's all in the timing.
Those last two are a b**** to get. If you want my advice (which I stole off someone elce) to get Kongo Jungle, use Donkey Kong (appropriatly enough). Using his down B move, non of the opponants will get close enough to hit you. Watch out for falling objects, and feal free to pause it a lot. Hitting the same button for 15 minutes hurts after a while. (I did it with my brother, switching off every 3 minutes)
As for Yoshi's island, use Yoshi. (I know, another coincedence). Pick up the bat, Damage the sandbag with Yoshi's midair down A move (does about 25% per time), then smash it with the bat when you are close to running out of time.
If you want to try other things, go ahead, but those are the methods I found to work the best.

It was of course...Ness. I and then I got really concerned when I realised that I had to beat Marth with the boy wonder. But I managed it (barely). Really not a big fan of Ness...
I think I'll try for Roy next. I'll get the ones that need that most number of to unlock first, since the ones that need less I might unlock just through playing vs. Matches.
So what happens if you lose to one that needs say, 300 bs matches to unlock. Do you then have to play 300 more?

Roy is awesome. I love his up Smash. He seems to be very similar to Marth only better. So can anyone tell me why you would ever use Marth over Roy?

LOL! That's hilarious Magnito! Nice idea.
I might just wait it out though. I'm already up to 5 hours and I've only had it for a few days now. It can't take that long can it. Or...do you have to play 20 hours straight? If that's the case it's ridiculous. I'll use your idea if I don't get him fairly soon, but it still feels a little like cheating to me.
Luigi's up and B is much better than Jigglypuffs. At least if you're not dead on target it still hits them, and you're not open for a smash.
I found Ganondorf to be a hard one. I'd sugest doing Young Link, Dr. Mario and Falco. They are much easier. (For Falco, I'd recomend the DK move I suggested earlier, but then again, to each their own)
The 20 hours doesn't need to be consecutive. As for that being cheating, well, maybe a little, but I'm an impatiant sort of guy. I'm not spending 20 hours when I can do it in a night, (although, in retrospect, I've spent more then 20 hours on that game, so I would have gotten him eventually anyway)
Here's a quetion for all you Smash Brothers lovers, if there were a SSB3 comming out, and they, for some reason put you in charge. You have to keep all 25 current characters, but you are alloud to add anyone elce from anyother game. Who would you add to the melee. (keep in mind that you should pick people that could fit with the format).
Some of my picks...
1)Toad. Lets face it, this guy got the shaft. In the current version he has 2 roles. Running around like an idiot in the back of the adventure mode, and being Peach's sheild. He is a central Mario character and deserves better.
2)Sonic. Yah, I know this is the obvious choise, but he'd fit right in.
3)Tails. There are very few games that only have one character, so if there is Sonic, you gatta have tails. Not as fast as Sonic, but with an awsome double jump (up B) move. (that spinning tail of his.
4)Pac Man. Don't ask be how theyed do him, but wouldn't that be cool.

If you're going to add Street Fighter characters, you've GOT to put in Ryu. Those other guys you listed are cool, but Ryu (and his near-twin Ken) are the flagship characters. But then, I'm hesitant to go there for one simple reason....none of the other Smash characters are from a pure fighting game, and I think that is a lot of the appeal of it. So I say, leave the fighters out of it.
I would LOVE to have Sonic, Tails AND Knuckles in the next Smash Bros. From what I hear, there's a good chance of it happenning too. I was a big Sonic player back in the Megadrive days, and if they put these guys in I'd be obligated to learn them inside and out.
I'm happy with Toad just as a supporting character. That's all he ever does anyway, and we've got enough of the Mario family (I love that one of Peach's alternate costumes is Plum!)
Pac-man and MegaMan are great choices. I think here'd be my additions:
Sonic- Super-fast, and watch that spin attack
Tails- See which fox is best!
Knuckles- If he can latch onto the side of a wall he can climb back up again!!
Pac-man- Don't let him eat you!

Diddy Kong - Definitely need some more Kong characters. Be nice to have a monkey with some speed!

And I agree with Diablo on leaving out Pichu and Dr. Mario, and maybe even Marth. They're just too similar to other characters available, and would be cool as unlockable alternate costumes with slightly different abilities.

Part of what I think makes SSB fun is that you use characters that you can't use in any other fighter and that aren't fighting game characters (well, exception for Link cameoing in Soul Calibur 2). While part of me would like to see Street Fighter characters in the game, in the end it just plain wouldn't be right. Unless you're making a game that makes it a point to cross SF characters over into SSB, keep em out.
Also, a lot of the suggestions people are making are for non-Nintendo owned characters. Once again, I'd love Mega Man, Sonic, Pacman, etc, but the cold hard truth is that they're not Nintendo characters. I say keep SSB Nintendo-pure.
@Wakanda Man: What, you like Marth over Roy? I don't use either much, but when I do I go with Roy all the way.

Its simple. Marth is faster... MUCH faster than Roy. He's the fastest sword wielder in the game. Also his blade is longer than that of Roy and Link. Also Roy's blade is more powerful the closer you get to him. However, the tip of Marth's sword is DEVASTATING. the further away the stronger with him. So you have a longer blade that is more powerful at the tip. et someone off the edge, then tank his ### when he tries to come back.
Also on a lot of levels, Marth's sword will pass through the blocking terrain and blast the character on the other side.
GOOD stuff.

Hey, is there a point to trying to shoot the end credits in one player mode? So far my best is 72, but I really wish I could inverse the aiming. I hate it that way... always move up when I'm trying to aim down.
So everyone, what other Gamecube games are great for multiplayer? I'm not at all into single player games (which is why I prefer nintendo). Smash Bros is the pinnacle of course, but I also like any other great 4-player games and also 2-player cooperatives. I've got Cel Damage, which is quite a fun simple game along the same lines as Smash Bros (in that you beat the carp out of each other with wacky characters and weapons) and X-men Next Generation. Oh, and I've borrowed Timesplitters 2 from a friend and it seems quite nice. Not used to the controls on it yet though.
I do plan on getting X-men Legends later, when I can afford it. It's still fairly expensive around here where I've seen it, and I'm pretty broke right now anyway. Besides, I need to play the games I've got first.
Also, which of the Sonics are best on the cube? Like I said, I played all the Sonics on Megadrive and really love them, so I'm interested in the cube ones as well. Any with a co-op option? How many are there (3 or 4?).

Multi-player games are really hard to make IMHO. However, the Bond games are ALWAYS fun for some shooting and sniping. Also the Clone Wars game from a few years back has a fun multiplayer option, much like the Bond games. Metroid Prime: 2 has one as well.

The first two are good for the multi-player options (Nightfire, Agent Under Fire).
"Everything or Nothing" (the 3rd bond game on GC) actually has co-op missions. Things like you going to steal something while your friend goes around disarming the security systems. It's REALLY fun.
There's now a "Rouge Agent" game that I havent played. And there are trailers for a new one called "007: From Russia with Love"
the "Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu" is kinda mindless, but I really enjoyed it... a LOT. Mostly because you can choose to be either Bats, Nightwing, Robin, or Batgirl. Then your friend can choose from the remaining, and you two play the game together. I'm such a social player though, that any co-op style game makes me happy.

Hell yeah, it has an awesome VS. mode. It actually varies from type. It is an open room and all 2-4 of you kick the #### out of each other. The rooms are also interactive deathtraps. If someone runs to get a grenade launcher, you can run to the other side and lock the room and gas them. One level you can even set charges, so when they run upstairs to get a gun, that enture of the floor explodes. Good stuff.
Good call on Peach, though. she's seriously tough. Don't count out the Ice Climbers though. they can lay the smack down. Grab a gun then grab the hammer. or two homerun bats.... ha...
Love the suggestion for Meowth, icymatt. We need some better pokemon to make up for the massive miss that is MewTwo...

Be careful with Peach if you grab a Hammer with her though. The way she swings it her rear is wide open for attack.
The Ice Climbers, however, have been an enormous pain for me. Whenever the computer uses them they're a couple of tough little bastiches, but no matter how much I practice with them I can never get good with them. Maybe mastering Kirby while the computer can't figure out how to use him balances that all out somehow... hmm...

Really? My experience has been just the opposite. My main strategy when facing the Ice Climbers is to separate them. The only problem I ever have with this is Popo returning too quickly. Long as you lay a steady barrage of hurt on Nana while she's isolated I don't see why she'd be a problem. I also work the other way when possible, casting Nana off to KO an isolated Popo while she's busy returning.
In other words, when Popo's away, bewear the wraith of Nana.

A few hints for anyone that wants them =).
Shiek, though much MUCH faster than Zelda has a LOT less Power-attacks. Her Up+A smash is AWESOME (But her over+a isnt all that great)..one of the best. Zelda's Lightning Kick is the most powerful kick in the game AND the weakest, time it right and it rules anyone from 85% on up. I don't like to switch...I always stay as Sheik, and anyone who tells me that's not the way to play her with get OWNED by my cat-like skills and reflexes. (=) )
Link is like...the nuking king of the work. One of my favorite combos: Bomb (hold), Jump + Weak arrow, boomerang, bomb...lather rinse repeat. I you come up against Fox though....prepare to be just, simply owned.
Fox...second best character. Lightning fast, super strong, and has a reflector. (Plus you can annoy people with his gun...keep saying, "Bang bang bang bang"...lol) First best is Zelda....but Fox is definately a close second. His throws are among the best, except his downward throw, which I would rate THE best in the game.
(Dr.) Mario rules, go near the edge, grab, backwards throw...then jump out and say, "POW!" as you nail them with your forward+a air attack XD.
Marth > Roy. Marth is faster, longer sword, and his up+b attack dominates.
I WILL say that Roy's counter attack is far superior though....insane.....
Ice Climbers are SO cool. Double FANS! OWNAGE!
It's 1 in the morning....I post more later XD.
It's fun to take out the support Ice Climber because it takes away the main one's third jump, and without it they have absolutely no jump skills at all. Although I think Captain Falcon is the worst jumper in the game.
I like to use the Ice Climbers, and they probably have some of the most effective smash attacks.

Matt, I disagree about Falcon being the worst jumper. He can clear more area than most of the characters in the game. He's the next best thing to having a character that can float.

You really see a differance if you have them fight in the super slow melee.

Don't count out Mario. Doc Mario may be powerful, but he's slower and has a shorter range than Mario. His cape doesnt always deflect the same things as Mario's either.
Fox's up smash is terrifying, but his side smash is weak. Falco is the opposite.
Doc Mario, Falco, Ganondorf, Pichu, Young Link, and Roy are basically Nintendo's version of LE's for the characters they are molded from. They are the same, just some tweaking in stats and powers here and there.
"Unbeatable" is a pretty huge term....It would prove to be a pretty good battle, if you ask me.

ha. I just finished playing against 3 level 9 Computer characters on the same team. THAT, is a challenge.
does anyone else notice that the Computer is faster and stronger than if you were playing the character? All of a sudden, Ganondorf's Block shield can reflect....

I tried that once, but I didn't win. I desided to work my way up. Right now, I can beat 3 level 7's almost every time. Soon, I'll move on to level 8s.

Another good challenge is to put the settings on manual handicap and leave them at 9 and slowly drop your handicap level down.

Hey guys. I've unlocked Pichu and Young Link now, only Game and Watch and Mewtwo to go. I think I need another 5 hours or so for Mewtwo, so I should have him about the same time as G&W...by the time I finish all the 1-player modes.
I've been trying to do the target tests, and I am very confused about Young Link's one. How in the heck am I supposed to climb out of that hole that he starts in? I can't seem to do anything to get out.

Young Link is one of the characters that can wall jump. What you want to do is jump towards a wall, then when you make contact with it jump and hold in the opposite direction. Do this a few times and you should make your way out of the hole.
Oh, and Doc? I now can't get the imaginary picture of you in Peach gear outta my head. PLEASE don't compound the pain by doing a forward+A high kick... :p

all the "human" characters can do the wall jump. The Pikas can also do it. It's not really that useful as there aren't really many places in the regular maps where you can do it.

Wow, I'm gonna try that out with everyone now. I'm sure if one if good at it, it could come in handy when you really need it and surprise one's opponent's. It'd be like using one of the lesser known powers in Heroclix well (which always tends to surprise people, giving a nice tactical advantage).

Now that I've gotten used to him on the cube, I think my old favourite has crossed over, meaning .....FOX!
There's lots that I like though: Pikachu (I love his new down smash), Captain Falcon, Peach, DK (when I want a challenge), Roy, Marth, Falco, Dr. Mario, Bowser, Pichu....they're the main ones I use. I like to mix it up a lot, so I don't specialise as much as some people. Two of my good friends that I play with lately are Captain Falcon specialists, so I probably don't use him as much as I would otherwise (he is very cool...but he doesn't have a very good colour range).
Might try and finish a few more Target Tests. Only 6 to complete. Some of them are darn hard!!! How the heck am I supposed to do Roy's without killing myself. :confused: Stupid spinning things.
