I might as well get some more of these Indy battles out of the way...

I was playing Heroclix the other day, and building my team, I had 103 points left. I looked at my selection and realized that U HT Batman and R IC Hulk both cost the same. This got me thinking. Just because they are Heroclix equals doesn’t translate back translate back to comics. I think most of us would agree that Hulk could beat Batman in a fight.

That is the idea for this tournament. Every entry will be close to the same amount of points Heroclix wise, but this will be their comic forms fighting!

Rules:
This will be a standard single elimination tournament with 32 combatants. There will be 2 to a fight. They get no knowledge of each other (unless they have fought in the past). The only thing they get is the Heroclix figure of there enemies, and a PAC so they know what the opponent looks like and a bit about what they can do (this can be misleading however, like if they face Electro and think he will try to poison them). They will have 5 minutes to prepare. This is a fight to the death or KO, whichever happens first, and they must fight (no waiting for the opponent to die of starvation). They have with them what they normally carry and what there fig has if it is different. (Like how Bullseye doesn’t carry a gun, but he has one on the fig). If the fig that is being used is the rookie, you do NOT have to treat the fighter like that. (unless the characters powers change dramatically ie: Rouge)

When you vote, please try to justify your answer. You don’t have to write an essay, just a short explanation will do.

Terrain
There are 10 terrains that are all 5 miles in diameter. They will be chosen randomly.
With out further delay…

Torquemada
fig from IN, 33pts.
vs.
Blizzard
fig from IC, 35pts.

Terrain:
Roman Coliseum by GAMURAI
The amphitheater is a vast ellipse with tiers of seating for 50,000 spectators around a central elliptical arena. Below the wooden arena floor, there was a complex set of rooms and passageways for wild beasts and other provisions for staging the spectacles. Eighty walls radiate from the arena and support vaults for passageways, stairways and the tiers of seats. At the outer edge circumferential arcades link each level and the stairways between levels. The three tiers of arcades are faced by three-quarter columns and entablatures, Doric in the first story, Ionic in the second, and Corinthian in the third. Above them is an attic story with Corinthian pilasters and small square window openings in alternate bays. At the top brackets and sockets carry the masts from which the velarium, a canopy for shade, was suspended.

21-25pts. winner: Live Wire
26-30pts. winner: Zatanna

Round 1
Poison Ivy vs. Havok: Havok
Silver Sable vs. Ultimate Spider-Man: Silver Sable
Weather Wizard vs. Viper: Weather Wizard

And the bios...

TORQUEMADA
Tomas de Torquemada is the reincarnation of some of the most evil men who ever lived! As the head of the Termight Empire and its army, the Terminators, Torquemada leads a Holy Crusade to cleanse the galaxy of all things alien and "deviant." A travel wire accident was only a minor setback when he was reduced to spirit form. But not even death could stop the ultimate fascist, discovering he could return by possessing a rotting corpse. His mad thirst for conquest attracted the attention of the "Arch-Deviant" Nemesis the Warlock. The two have fought again and again over the years, with their conflict finally ending when the two were melded into the Blitzspear just as Torquemada's alien-killing Generation bomb went off; forcing the ghostly ship to loop the galaxy for all eternity.

BLIZZARD (II)
The second villain to bear the name Blizzard, Donald Gill uses his battlesuit to project everything from freezing cold flurries to icy darts to steams of frozen water strong enough to dent steel. Up until recently, the Blizzard has been in the employ of Justin Hammer, whose missions have brought Blizzard in direct conflict with the hero Iron Man.

Hmm...tricky.
Blizzard has an obvious power advantage, but Torquemada
has made a career (and indeed an empire) from fighting
aliens who are wierd, and more powerful than himself.
The fact that he could stand up to Nemesis at all should
speak volumes about his ability to fight against Powers.

Well, you do raise a good point, but I'm still voting for Blizzard. I don't think that Torquemada has enough expirience with this kind of opponant. My vote...
BLIZZARD

I don't know enough about Torque, so i'm gunna agree with Magnito and say

My vote: Blizzard

Well, I'd argue that fighting his way up to become the leader
of an empire that fights against Warlocks kind of means that
he has a lifetime of experience of fighting opponents capable
of generating elemental effects.

The Warlock race incidentally is just one of the wide variety
of alien races that Torquemada's empire fought against.
Nemesis is kind of like combining Cap's combat prowess with
Dr. Stranges Mystical prowess.
And he is Torquemada's arch enemy.

And if it were Nemisis fighting, I'd vote for him, but it's not. Just because they fight, doesn't mean their powers are equal. I do admit that it would be a good fight, but I think the Blizzards power will pull him through (just barely)

NOBODY EXPECTS THE INQUISITION!!!

Unfortunately, no body expects to be *poofed* into a fight, either and most of Torquemada's "strategic leader" capabilities get damaged when he's fighting one-on-one with only the equipment he routinely carries. If we gave him his resources, yep, I agree he'd route an alien empire but in this case, he's going to get the Frozen Water Torture.

Vote: Blizzard

Correct me if im wrong but isnt this Blizz the one who is rather pahetic over on Thunderbolts( a good book, not knocking it). A real wimp and always worried that he cant do it makes me think that he would crumble in front of someone with confindence and the only reason he sticks aorund in TB is that others make him fight.

I'm voting torquemada. He'll make the terrain work more to his advantage and blizzard has no defense to an axe to the stomach.

There are a couple "votes" in this match that I'm not sure if they are votes of not (mainly NotYou and michiganj24). If you are both voting fot Toquemada, then this is tied, but untill this is cleared up, Blizzard is up.

He may be a bit of a shmuck, but when push came to shove he never had much trouble squaring off against Iron Man. He came close to killing Tony and Rhodey both, more than a couple of times. That should speak a lot for his capabilities and "gumption" (and let's be honest here - guys like Blizzard may flee given the chance but they get really dangerous when they're desperate and as he has to fight here, well, he's cornered and desperate).

Hell freezes over.....Blizzard can create a blizzard or ice pillar or even ice ram to pummel at the coliseum...Blizzard has somehow one or two more advantages over Torque....Blizzard wins.

Thanks for clearing that up I have only seen him in TB and a few other apperances as i'm not a fan of iron man anymore. So my vote blizzard.
