So I have to track down this 16 year old runaway last night from a Juvenile Detention Center that has NO security features for keeping the hardcore juvenile deliquents and drug addicts inside the institution.

What a joke! And they get Federal funding to stay in business AND the courts keep sending kids there to be court committed and the place has NO WAY of keeping them there.

And, Boy Howdy! This is one girl that needed to be bee-yotch slapped. I've decided to give her a Non-Traffic citation for Disorderly Conduct for smoking in front of me.

Yeah, it's illegal to sell tobacco to minors, but it's not illegal to be a minor and get caught smoking, but you know what? I don't care.

Let her mom pay the $300.00 fine OR hire a lawyer and wind up shelling out $1,000.00 in lawyer fees to fight and win the case. Either way I win and the little juvie will learn to make sure I'm not working when she decides to run away again. And, maybe her mom will finally wise up and learn that spanking is okay sometimes.

On an upside, there was one FINE female hottie working at the juvie home. I'm going to hopefully stop by tonight to see if Emily is working... ;)

On my office bookshelf, I have a diorama set up...

Kierin Starsdawn is next to a Skyguard Griffon, and together they are attacking a single Khamsin Surgeon (which is really a River Charger figure w/the Surgeon's dial). Back to back with the Surgeon is Reggie Jackson who is single-handedly taking on Death on his horse. Above them, Silver Surfer (which is actually a modded Blob figure) is on his way down to help Reggie.

That's a new topic for this thread...

The one exec is talking about their new toyline they want to start:

Well, those were just my WK figures... Alongside Silver Surfer Blob are 5 X-Men figure "cards" from Z-Cardz (Storm, Cyclops, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Toad), a Gollum mini, 6 mini-bobbleheads (Hulk, Magneto, Ultimate Green Goblin, The Leader, Venom, and Wolverine), a Darth Maul Blob, a PotSM Windjammer that's missing it's port side (no holes in the deck to connect it to), and a "sticky-head" figure that was an ad for some headhunter (you remove the cap on its head and throw it at your monitor, and it sticks). No diorama, just a collection o'####.

My office is called "the cave" because the woman who had it before me decided that dark blue was the right color. It wasn't. Now I live in darkness if I don't turn on the halogen lights (i HATE halogen lights). Luckily I have a window, but an office that faces south with a nice view of another building and an alley. So I never get sunlight. I have rainbow bears next to me, holding a shot glass from the Price of Right with Bob Barker's face on it, a plastic bull that my boss found when cleaning out another office and decided that I needed it, and papers piled on top of papers because I decided that the cave needs to look like I am working instead of surfing online and responding to threads like this.

I have a computer room which is my "office" (even though I use my laptop in the living room), we are just finishing off a smaller bedroom that is being turned into a Library with all of my (non-gaming) books, and above the garage is a 14 x 28 gaming room with all of my gaming stuff, figures, maps, tables, etc. And I suppose overflow for my Library should that ever come to pass.. ;)

Yeah...I know all this. It still surprises me that someone would be so blatant about it, especially with the current political climate. I mean, all the courts need is a good case (like this) to add sexual orientation to the books. No one has yet to challenge a corp. yet on discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation. Legally, if you can show that your job performance was not poor or affected because you are gay, then legally you could get a big settlement.

Stupid homophobic america....WE ARE NOT AMUSED!

Allow me to finish.

I'm not supposed to give details about what happened, but I wasn't fired, I quit.

I was warned by several people when I started working there to not let him know I was gay or I would be given a seriously hard time until I quit. Which is what happened to ALL of the gay guys that have worked there before me.

As though it was almost scripted, I had a great time at Borders until I made a statement that gave away my "less than conventional" sexual orientation in front of the GM. From that day forward, things changed, BIG time. Eventually things came to a head where I was openly threatened in front of other employees, so I quit.

Luckily Borders has a very strong "Open Door" policy, so I called as far up the ladder as I could've, and it turns out there are already wheels in motion. Unfortunately, as azs said, there is nothing legal that I can do to help myself with this.

I am, as I urge all my friends in Tallahassee, boycotting the Tallahassee location of Borders. I love Borders, and It is an amazing company to work for. They are one of the biggest advocates for gay rights and they offer great same sex couple benefits. So if you, or any friends of yours want to boycott Borders in another town, don't. For just as soon as they remove this manager, I'll be back in there buying clix with someones discount.

If you want to help, write borders hq and let them know that you are aware that such a gay friendly corp is staffing a bigoted General Manager. Our store is #344 in Tallahassee, FL.

MSU and Shock Man X, thanks for the support anyway. :)

You know what company's really love in a case like that DF77...for something to get leaked to the media about what happened, specially if it is a slow news day(which today wasn't with the death of a very public person in florida). It's not as good as if it bleeds it leads stories, but "hate" crime usually ranks up there on news list and that's what it amounts to...
But hey what do i know my state voted for discrimation by about a 2/3's vote in the population.
Best of luck

I don't mean to be inflammatory, and I certainly am NOT pointing this out because of who posted it, but if I were to post anything along these lines, I'd get warned for it.

Despite my STRONG disagreement with the insinuation of this post, I'm NOT going to argue about it.

I do politely ask that comments like this not be allowed--no matter who posts them.

I've got numerous photos of open alcohol containers in wrecked vehicles from people who report thier accidents were due to them "falling asleep at the wheel" or "swerving to avoid a deer". My favorite one is a great close up of a Busch Light can still nestled in the cup holder in the center console.

People are so stupid.

Knowing the above then you want this sweet Polaroid I took of a drunk that drove himself head-on into a tri-axle dump truck a few years ago.

The guy was mangled beyond belief and (IIRC) was a mid-0.30% B.A.C. Level. He had the following bumper sticker on the back of his car's bumper:

"Impairment Begins With The First Drink."

I also have cool autopsy pics of this dead drunk. This guy proved that the Darwinian Laws still work.

I had passes to see Sin City last night, and when I got there they had sold out!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! If only the friend who was holding the passes hadn't gotten the flu, then I wouldn't have waited at his house ten minutes (they told me that had sold out about 10 minutes before i got there)

what a kick in the junk.

Sex
Religion
Disability
Illness
National Origin

Sexual orientation is not covered under discrimination laws yet.

Kinda makes you think we're still in the 1950's.

You forgot veteran status. That's on the books in just about every state (and, I believe, at the federal level). That particular one kinda makes me think we're still in 1975...

Looking at my very, VERY cluttered desktop...

I see JSA pvc figures sets 1, 2, and 3 on top of the desk hutch being guarded by a G.I. Joe in Vietnam jungle camo. Next to that I have LE's Kendra Saunders and Carter Hall perched on a storage case.

Below on top of a clock next to my monitor I have a "in mid mod" of Sinestro in a GL uniform. Looks ok but I probably needed to do a little more filing and trimming beforeI started painting it.

Looking around the room I see my drawing table covered in models and modelling bits and pieces for Warhammer. Along with some paint and some Warhammer minis.

There's just SO much... arghhh!!!!

I was forced to banish all of my clix stuff to the basement. Now when my friends come over I get to show off my "Galactus shrine." I have a problem with it, though. There is a Dark Phoenix-sized empty space that I need to fix. I'm working on solving this problem.

Oh, and about labor laws - I am all for stopping discrimination. However, it's disheartening to see how many incompetent, lazy slackers abuse those same laws to stay at their jobs.

Hey, I hadn't heard anything about anyone's juvie girlfriend. What's up with that? Is there a good story therein?

Well, as long as were bragging about our "Geekdoms" I'll chime in......

My computer, which is continously on, flashes HR Giger Pictures. Above that lies my Texas Chainsaw Massace movie poster. On the adjacent wall I have my 6 FOOT TALL DARTH VADER CARDBOARD CUTOUT! BOO-YAH! Along with the framed artwork of the first three star wars movies. On the bookshelf, I have a lot of John Steinbeck, Stephen King and Chuck Paluhnik. Along with the Millenium Falcon and AT-At Walker. On the bottom shelf, I have the animated Justice League on display battling the Ultra Humanite and Darkseid. My Marvel Select Dr.Doom is being guarded by Marvel Legends Hawkeye and Nick Fury. My 4 cases of Comic books are in there as well.....

My god......I probably could have bought a new car with all that......
