Who will be the pirate king? (or queen?) This TOC will pit eight pirates, both historical and fictional, against one another. When only one pirate is left, standing on his or her bloodstained deck, then we will have a winner.
The Round 1 match ups are as follows:
Blackbeard vs. Peter Blood
Anne Bonney vs. Jack Sparrow
Long John Silver vs. Captain Kidd
Stede Bonnett vs. Thomas Tew
A brief biography of the pirates will be provided before each map, as well as the setting for the fight and their weapons.
ROUND 1, MATCH 1:
Blackbeard vs. Peter Blood
BLACKBEARD: The terror of the high seas for several years and a master of psychological warfare, the huge pirate Blackbeard would weave lighted matches into his beard and hair to terrify his victimsinto surrendering. Using violence and brutality to keep his post as captain, he and his crew were eventually run down by the Royal Navy. In the final fight, a completely drunk Blackbeard killed a number of his foes before finally succumbing to a total of 20 sword cuts and 5 pistol wounds.
PETER BLOOD: Before attempting to settle down to the quiet life of a country doctor, Peter Blood had an adventurous career as a soldier and sailor. His life as a doctor was cut short when the corrupt courts of King James unjustly sentenced him to slavery in Jamaica. Blood organized a mass escape of the Jamaican slaves, seized a ship, and took to the high seas as a pirate. He was a master of clever tactics and strategies, as well as a highly skilled swordsman.
WEAPONS: Each pirate has a sword, a dagger and two flintlock pistols; as well as plenty of extra powder and shot for the pistols.
THE SETTING: A wide beach on a deserted island. The beach is about 100 yards wide, at which point the ground rises into a series of steep, rock-strewn hills. The surf is heavy, pounding loudly against the shore. The pirates begin the fight standing halfway up the beach about 40 yards apart (20 yards beyond effective pistol range.)
So, who would win?
