I have a dumb question. I'm not picking on anyone but how is it we keep getting lists with Green Lantern(s) on it, but the same lists don't have Sinestro who is conceivably more powerful? :) The man pimp-slaps pretty much any GL he runs across and has come close time and again to defeating Hal (if it wasn't for Sinestro's overconfidence of Hal's "protagonist" factor, we'd probably have a different situation :) ). Like I said, it's an honestly curious question as to why the perception goes this way.

Eh, he pimp slaps GLs because he is a master of a power source that is essentually of their one weakness, Yellow. Anything he does, including his own aura, is yellow, giving him a HUGE plus vs near any GL. The same advantage wouldnt be the same against say Thor, Superman, Surfer, Doomsday or Hulk, who have no weakness to the color yellow.

I am curious how Superman has so many more votes than Doomsday, who is unarguably more powerful than even Superman. Or how Drax is lagging behind Hulk, since he can do pretty much anything Hulk can do, as well as fly and shoot vastly powerful energy attacks. Or how Juggernaut, who is near immune to all physical attacks, is loads behind other character who made the Top Ten but only have physical attacks. :)

I don't get this either. Juggs could take 90% of others on this list. There are some I could taking him easily (like Martian Manhunter for example), but I see him over Doomsday, Superman, Captain Marvel...

All right, first off, Genis is more powerful than anyone on this list. If we're using the insane Genis from his comic, then he easily outclasses everyone, from Superman to Silver Surfer. And, Surfer is my favorite character. If anyone wants some specific examples of his power, I'll be more than happy to give some.

My theories on a few questions:

Drax--Either he's stupid and strong, or he's less powerful and smart. If he's stupid, then most of the list will outsmart him and in the case of the Hulk, I believe eventually overpower him. Just my opinion. If he's smart, he can think and act in a reasonable manner, but a lot of his power is lost. Then he's only on Captain Mar-vell level. Powerful, but not powerful enough.

Juggernaut--Too dumb. He continually blows his chances to do more than be a nuisance by focusing on small time or revenge plots. He'd be outsmarted by even the lower tier characters.

My question is: Did anyone else have a tough time cutting Black Bolt? He was easily my number 11 and I thought long and hard about placing him in the list.

1. Darkseid. The god the Devil prays to. Jobbing aside, this guy is a teambuster, and DC's version of a Skyfather.


2. Eclipso. Former Wrath of God, now god of Vengeance.
3. Mordru. Even 20th Century this guy takes on the Society.
4. Doomsday. What can I say?
5. Flash. Punched the Anti-Monitor's second form to death. KO'd Zum with one punch.
6. Green Lantern (Hal). Most powerful weapon in the universe; limited only by willpower.
7. Sinestro. Most powerful weapon Qward ever made. This thing scared off the entire Qwardian army, and they weren't afraid of the Corps, the Guardians, or Lobo.
8. Lobo. Said to be the most dangerous being this side of Darkseid. Hyperbole, but that still says a lot.
9. Martian Manhunter. On a physical level higher than Superman according to the encyclopedia. With his wide array of powers, I don't doubt it.
10. Black Adam. Strong as Superman, but magic.

The Ugly:
So many times I went back and forth with my choices. I had a particularly dificult time eliminating Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, and Eclipso from the list. These characters have the power AND the smarts to make things happen. On any given day they could be top 10!

Characters like Doomsday, Terrax and The Champion were also incredibly difficult to eliminate. Though they don't have (or their current incarnations rarely display) the intelligence of those above, they do have the raw power to be top 10ers.

The Hulk, Juggernaut and Drax are just too dumb to make the list. Though they possess raw power, it's easily countered by those above with even an iota of tactical prowess.

Nimrod, The Flash, Black Bolt, Dr. Doom, Gladiator, Lobo... these guys were hard to quantify. Each possess incredible power. But rarely is depicted with the expertise, consistency or the will to use it in such a way as to gain a top 10 ranking.

In all... My top 10ers are all people who can crank it up to another level; heroes and villains who can stride up to a god and sup at his table.

He easily kills Heimdall, gutting him, and manhandles like 10 Asgardians with ease. He was giving it to OdinThor, and is more powerful in my opinion. He also kills the Twin Giants that the Asgardians have been trying to kill for 10,000 years. He easily kills them both. People that are not saying Genis-know nothing about him.

Even dumb Drax from the Infinity Watch, which we are using here, is about as strong a powerhouse as you can get, due to the Power Gem he wears. He can subconsiously draw physical strength and toughness from the Gem to essentially because a flying, energy blasting Hulk. (along with vast regeneration as well)

Juggernaut isnt too bright sure, but most of us believe him to be completely immune to physical might short of something a powerful Cosmic Being would throw. Meaning he could conceiveably stand up to ANY SHW on this list that has no mental attacks.

Black Bolt wasnt too hard for me. Physically hes around Thing level (a High End HW, not SHW) and there are many characters here that can survive a nuclear blast (which his voice screamed would created) Hes good, but he wasnt close to my Top 10 really.

Can someone please tell me who Doomsday in this form has close to half of the votes Superman and Darkseid, and he has already defeated both characters, almost at the same time?

Sure hes no rocket scientist, but hes already prove hes about as physically strong and tough as they come in either universe (sans Cosmic Beings). Im a bit lost why hes being left out of so many peoples list, he was literally my Number 1 no brainer pick.

Er, no offense DTM but if you've already decided that Doomsday is one of the most powerful on the list why did you even ask us to rate him among the Top 10? As for why I personally don't quite put Doomsday in there it comes down to versatility. While Doomsday is some serious raw power, everyone I put on the list is capable of doing more than just a "hunt and kill rampage". They're pertinent characters for all sorts of scenarios. Being I don't know why you were asking for these characters, I had to just go ahead and figure in terms of _all_ factors, who are the mightiest characters (note that I don't have Hulk up there either). It's a combination of not just raw power, but power versatility, intelligence, experience, resources, etc. That's also why I don't have Juggernaut up there - he's pretty "one-dimensional" (no, I'm not talking personality-wise) when it comes to capabilities.

Peronally, for me, I'm just recently starting to come out of my "MARVEL ZOMBIE" shell. I'm not incredibly familiar with some of these characters. Don't get me wrong, I KNOW who they are and what their deal is, but compared to such characters as SILVER SURFER and THOR, I'm not sure because I KNOW what THEY are capable of whereas Sinestro is just some big headed, pink skinned, EVIL green-lantern to me.

Gladiator is phenomaly powerful, but to easy to defeat if you know his weakness (he has his little planet/moon cracking punch, but is all confidence driven, make that waver, even slightly, and Aunt May could kick his butt).

I asked the Doomsday question as a form of discussion, I questioned this regarding seeing other peoples choices, as you yourself did with Sinestro. It wasnt an attack, just a question thrown out there, later specifically to thugit, none of them were attacks or accusations in the least.

Remind me when I do another opinion poll to simply take a vote count and shut up.

As for Doomsday being one dimensional, he dhas already defeated Darkseid AND Superman, both of which have many more votes than him above. (and Doomsday has several abilities that Juggernaut doesnt) This is not in dispute, one on one, he has already taken both of them. Thats why I asked the question, wondering as you did with Sinestro, why several vote counts were leaving out Doomsday completely, but counting Superman as one of their main Top Tens.

Well, on Doomsday, his intelligence is pitiful, and a heavy duty enough incapacitation ability would do it (ie just holding him in place, teleporting him away, etc).

1. Superman also beat Doomsday in their fight, after holding back the whole fight. If Kent had been out for blood, or in desperation to start, he'd have dropped Doomsday no problem. He just wasn't vicious enough to go for the bony protrusions to start.

2. Superman has a whole host of powers other then being really strong, and really tough. He packs superspeed, heat vision, an intelligent mind, super-breath (cad that always sounds like some sort of super halitosis), etc. He doesn't just have to grab and clobber.

Most of mine are fairly versitile heros and villians. Able to fight a wider breadth of threats. That is, Thor doesn't just have to punch you with Mjolnir, he can summon and command storms of immense power and size, hurl mystic energy at you, command magnetic fields (as easily as Magneto, read some of the old Avengers issues), absorb vast quantities of energy, teleport, and a whole host of other things. Just like Green Lantern isn't limited to a green baseball bat, but just about anything he can think up is at least partly do-able.

As far as ranking Juggernaut, I think most people think of his current incarnation, which is much less powerful than he used to be. I'd say he's closer to Colossus at this point than the unhurtable force of nature he used to be. So while he's still quite powerful, he just doesn't rank on this list. Classic Juggernaut probably belongs here.
