View Full Version : TV Cartoon Battles: Mixed Teams TOC: Round 1, Match 3
Well, with Match 2 being a bit on the lopsided side, for now anyway as there is still days left to go for this match, I figured Id throw Match 3 out there and see if we cant keep this TOC going.
With pretty much the same rules as with all of my TOCs, except this time:
The terrain has been enlarged to 40 miles wide, as always, protected by a force field of the strongest power to prevent characters from escaping or flying their foes to the sun.
Team will now have a 10 minute "Planning Stage" where each team can talk and prep amongst themsevles against the opposing team. Characters may NOT leave their immediate area during this time and no powers, spells, etc. can be used. This is a planning, sharing information stage only.
Now without further adieu, allow me to present your next battle in a BRAND NEW (aka: OLD, OLD, OLD) type of Tournament Of Champions:
TEAM VENGER - Daisuke Jigen (Lupin The 3rd), Static Shock (Static Shock), Birdman (Birdman), Venger (Dungeons & Dragons)
VS.
TEAM SAILOR SATURN - Ren (The Pirates Of Dark Water), Aeon Flux (Aeon Flux), Evil Lyn (He-Man & The Masters Of The Universe), Sailor Saturn (Sailor Moon)
As always, same rules apply, no time to prepare, POOFed from where ever they were, with only what they routinely carry on them AND/OR routinely used in their shows, to fight in a Large area til one stands and one falls. YOU decide Who.
Randomly Chosen Area:
Army Training Base - Situated in the deserts of the South-West, this facility contains all manner of terrain to shape the fighting forces of tomorrow, or would be dictators. Rough barracks and communication facilities sit inside the main compound, which is surrounded by all sorts of climbing obstacles, barbed wire, and mud pits. Several clumps of rude concrete buildings serve to train for more urban environments.
(Inspired by: GI Joe and others)
Thanks all, and enjoy.
And REMEMBER, if youre not sure who someone is here, ASK. Theres PLENTY of people here who can tell you most anything youd like to know. Thanks again.
ALSO, please do your best to respect everyones votes, reasonings and opinions here. If you believe your character should win, but doesnt in the end, dont hold grudges against the character that beat yours, or call the votes that allowed this to happen "fanboy" arguments or plain and simply wrong. We all have our own way of thinking and voting here, with each one of our thoughts and ideas as valid as your own. Lets do what we can, even in the heat of an argument, to respect that. Thanks.
TV CARTOON TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS Part 5
ROUND 1
Team He-Man vs. Team Imhotep: Team Imhotep
Team Superion vs. Team Gundam Deathscythe: Team Superion
Team Venger vs. Team Sailor Saturn: ??????
14 Down, 2 To Go
Isn't team He-man up on Team Imhotep now?
Ah yes, youre right. Sorry about that Team He-Man.
Ill have to remember to change that, if needed, when Match 4 goes up. Thanks Magnito.

Can anyone say slaughter?
Static will Hold Evil-Lynn for a long enough time to allow Jigen to snipe out the light and middleweights. Birdman goes for the sucker shot on Evil Lynn and the rest of the team gang up on Saturn.
Sailor Saturn will definately put up a good fight, but Virgil is a high end middleweight with Jigen being able to put the shot on anyone almost anywhere, and the evil tactics of Venger (who let's face it, can also cast some pretty decent spells). Throw in Bird man for bait and it's pretty tough on Saturn's part. Birdman and Static might go down in the end, but the Sailor just doesn't have what it takes to take on this team, it's just really really powerful. The only downfall it might have would be Virgil and Birdy disagreeing with Venger with the ruthlessness.
Team Venger to win. Venger will most likely cast spells to nullify Static and Birdman's weaknesses. He could cast an anti water spell for Static and solar spell for Birdman. If he did that (and he probably will) then Static and Birdman, combined with the expert sniper, Jigen, will take out Ren the pirate prince, Aeon Flux the assasin and Evil-Lyn the sorceress. Then Saturn not going to be able to fend off 4 powerful beings going all out on her.
Too bad too, Team Sailor Saturn had 3 girls on it.
Anyway, my vote: Team Venger
Not that I'm voting yet, but wouldn't a .50 caliber round through the head kill every single member of Team Saturn?
And isn't that kind of Jigen's specialty?
Just asking.
Grrr... I want to vote team Saturn, with a little spell protection from her HW she can definitely get in close to Venger and kill him easily enough (in close, she can kill pretty much anyone due to paralysis touch and a blade that can cut through anything. At range she has a lot of power, in close she's literally death), which is the best tactic for her, but while she takes out Venger, Venger's teammates will take out her LW and MW easy and then Evil Lyn under a minute later, and then it's all over as Saturn definitely can't take out the rest of that team. And since Saturn is a one-on-one fighter, things wouldn't go much different if she tried to take on the others while Evil Lyn held off Venger, maybe getting two of the others before she was left on her own with, at minimum, Venger and Jigen (but likely Venger and Birdman, since Jigen's easier for her to take out and Birdman has defense) while already being worn out herself.
My vote: Team Venger due to having some of the best people in all three of the lesser catagories and a fairly strong SHW.

Saturn can sense it coming and dodge and has some resiliance (really, those sailor outfits work pretty much like fullbody forcefields, which explains why they provide any defense at all) although she'd still be hurt, but yea, aside from that they're in trouble. Bad matchup for Team Saturn.

DTM, are you seriously STILL allowing Birdman into these tournaments? His power level tops out at Pyron levels, and he's been shown to have no moral compass whatsoever. Well, if you insist on putting such an obvious superheavyweight on the team in addition to Venger, than I have no choice but to vote for him.
I vote for Birdman, and his soon to be blood soaked talons.

Whoops, my mistake DTM, I got scrambled there and thought Birdman was Blue Falcon.
Venger still has enough versatility to win this, no vote change.
I vote for Team Vengar.
Uhmm, I dunno they just seem more mighty.
evil lyn corrupted my childhood, so it hurts me to have to vote against her team.
saturn is formidable, evil-lyn would be pretty handy to have around for support and for ranged magical attacks... and i could see aeon possibly stealthing jigen.... but ren is a complete waste.
but team venger has four people who are threats.
jigen is an incredible shot, static shock is incredibly over-rated, birdman has the incredible power of attorney. and venger who short of dungeon master and tiamat, is the biggest threat in the d&d cartoon.
i'll toss in a vote for team venger.
I really think that Evil Lynn and Sailor Saturn can do a lot of damage together. I don't think they'll win, but they will at least take out someone on the other side. That said, team Venger takes still takes this. My vote...
TEAM VENGER
Venger got a lot of great allies for his team. Saturn's LW and MW will be taken out easier, and Venger being the mightier magician, can destroy Evil-Ln. Then it's all against Saturn. Birdman and Static will do enough damage on their own, but Venger sends it over-the-top.
Vote: Team Venger
Man...I guess I am going with the flow here. Team Venger has too much on their side and is a serious contender for final 4. Venger's magic can protect them from Evil Lyn's magic, Static can hold people still and create force shields, tk objects....Sailor Saturn is a good SHW, but not good enough to hold off Venger's magic and Static Shock's attacks. Team Venger to round 2.
My vote: Team Venger due to having some of the best people in all three of the lesser catagories and a fairly strong SHW.
Dont you mean VERY strong SHW? :) Venger made it to the Final Four of his own TOC, and was taken down only because he fought the ONE character in this entire TOC he knew he couldnt bet. Venger is POWERFUL, no doubt about it. Team Venger could certainly go far here.

I think youre mixing Birdman up with Blue Falcon, the other HB character that I believe you were supporting LIKE A MADMAN earlier.
Blue Falcon is on Match 1 or 2, so if so go show your support there.
Birdman is certainly not at Pyron levels, though since he gets his powers from the sun, and Pyron is a living sun (WITH A VERY SMALL FRACTION of that suns powers) it would be an interesting match up.
Yeah, Im definately voting for Team Venger here, thanks as well to some really good supporting players (alittle less so for Birdman and alot moreso for Static Shock) My Vote: Team Venger
Team Venger - 10 votes
Team Sailor Saturn - 0 votes

Venger never fought against Dracula. ;)
Team Venger. The sheer smackdown firepower this team has in Venger, Jigen and SS is just horrifying.

Oh, man. I was pulling for the lovely ladies of Team Cinemax to make it to at least the quarter finals. Hard to vote against that much bare leg, but the winged horrors of Team Flock, Shock, and One Smoking Barrel just bring way too much to the table. Jigen's got the best long range weapon in the LW division, Static dominated the MW division, and Birdman - well, he can play spotter for the actual threats on the team. Add Venger to the mix and these guys have a serious shot at taking the whole thing. Team Venger to advance.
Dont you mean VERY strong SHW? Venger made it to the Final Four of his own TOC,
Not really. In large part he got good draws where any magic users would've flourished.
Most of the other magic users and similar in the tournament were much stronger. Wiseman, Oberon, Genie, Mewtwo, Dracula, Talpa, and of course Tiamat all had stronger powers than him, which puts him fairly middle-of-the-road in my book. He was solid, but didn't have the raw power of a bunch of the others (who, granted, could pretty much all be considered 'gods').
By what basis are you saying characters like Wiseman, Dracula, Talpa and the like are all stronger Magic Users and Sorcerrers than Venger?
The guy came from a world FULL of similiar beings, and was Master to them all save Tiamat (winner of the SHWs) and Dungeon Master (a Cosmic Being) that to me doesnt say middle of the road SHW. Again, the guy ordered around Lloth, a lesser God Spider Queen, surely that constitues a major level of magical force and power.
Well, for one, Wiseman is pretty much his world's equivelent of Tiamat and you'll note did really close to her in their match, and can definitely block Venger's magic while sending back his own. Dracula in SHW form is a force of nature and has both powerful magic of his own and some magic resistance. Talpa has fairly heavy magic resistance going and physical power, which we know is fairly good against Venger from Tiamat's example.
He's a major force to be sure, but that's what makes him a SHW.
Personally I would say Venger is as overall magically powerful as Wiseman, Dracula or Imhotep, and moreso than Talpa, Shendu and Lord Hazanko. Only Oberon and Tiamat exceed his magical power, in my mind (though Oberon does have a VERY exploitable weakness to anyone who has studied Alchemy 101). Genie would be UP THERE as well in power, though his goofy attitude bring him down considerably.
Again, the guy is pretty much the most powerful, most feared, most evil being in an entire realm of powerful, feared and evil magical beings. Venger deserves his ranks upmong the top level mages here.
Wiseman did good against Tiamat because his supporters basically said hed hide and blast her from lightning bolts from afar. Thats a difference in fighting tactics, not magical POWER. (Keep in mind Tiamat defeated Wiseman anyway, and only creamed Venger because weve seen them fight in the cartoon already and that was a given, her battle against Wiseman was speculative and his more hidden and less straight forward fighting style helped him make it even remotely close)
I'd say he's as magically powerful as Dracula, but Dracula has other advantages that put him overall higher. Wiseman is closer to the Tiamat/Oberon level in magic strength with the crystal (although still a bit below those two).
And I'll note- You just listed him as being below 3 magic users, above 3, and equal to 3. Isn't that the definition of middle of the pack? ;)
Yes, though Im not saying Venger is middle of the pack, Im saying hes up in the highest of magical beings, and routinely loses to Tiamat only because of her UNREAL magical and physical resistances. Tiamat would eat pretty much any magic user here, make no mistake, Wiseman, Oberon and Dracula as well. Not a dig on their magical prowess, but an awe of her magical resistance
But it seems we argee to disagree, which is fine by me. :)

Dracula lose to Tiamat?
I don't see how . . .
Not a dig on their magical prowess, but an awe of her magical resistance
I still point to the fact that all of those three can for the most part attack from well outsider her range indefinitely. It doesn't matter how good your resistance is, unless it's immunity, you're gonna be taken down sooner or later.
I put the hierarchy of Spell-chuckers in this category thus.
1. Oberon
He is A GOD. Lord of Avalon, incarnation of Chaos and Change, lord of all the Fae. Magically, you cannot compete with the embodiment of Magic itself
2. Genie
PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER!!!! Itty bitty lving space! Jafar wished to be a Genie, as then the universe is yours to command. The only problem is, a Genie is a slave, and when freed, lose their link to their wellspring of power. Add to the fact that he's a goof with no focus and he finishes number 2.
3. Venger
Ancient, evil, and taught by the best! He orders around all beings of Evil in his Realm, save one. And that's because she could kick his posterior in a fight.
4. Wiseman
Mysterious, patient and incalculably evil. Oberon embodies all Magic, Wiseman embodies Dark Magic. His main problem is that he thinks long term, and prefers trickery, subterfuge, obfuscation and manipulation to MAD BEATDOWN. He's possibly higher, but even seeing all the series, exactly how powerful he is is unclear, considering he prefers to work from the shadows, and we only saw him in full fury for a short time.
5. Mozenrath
No mortal more mighty. It's that simple. Thing is, he NEEDS the Gauntlet of the Black Sands to work even the tiniest spell.
6. Imhotep
This is all hearsay, since my memories of him aren't that clear. He is insanely powerful though, problem is, he's pretty stuck in his ways of doing battle.
7. Lord Hazanko?
Don't know him very well at all.
8/9 (TIE!) Dracula and Tiamat
They're forces of nature, but for both, their magical might is secondary to physical might. Let's face it, no spell lobber's going toe to toe with the Queen of Dragonkind and winning in a fight.
And Dracula...weather control and transmutation seem to be his main gifts, as well as good ol' Vampiric mind control. He can do more, but far prefers a straight up fight after altering the battlefield to his liking.
The real thing that puts Wiseman ahead for me is the crystal- He's a mage on his own, and he can tap into vast wells of power, so even if he and Venger are close in chucking spells at each other, he simply can chuck spells for longer (kinda like Genie and Oberon, he's actually made of magic, which is something of an edge), plus the crystal allows him to absorb magical energy as well, and the crystal ball is a nice icing besides that.
And when he did unleash his full fury, it was pretty impressive and required a time-travel loophole to beat. So I'd swap 3. and 4. on your list.
But it seems we argee to disagree, which is fine by me.
I'm not even sure we're disagreeing
I'm saying 'middle of the pack' in the most literal of ways. He's at neither the top nor the bottom of this group which is mainly gods and archmages.

This coming from the guy who thinks Dracula has a good chance to defeat GOD. :p :)

Now THERE'S a match I wanna see.
The only beings on this list that have greater magical power than Venger, to me, are Oberon and Wiseman (with Genie as potentially so, though it seems he doesnt use such power nearly to its potential) Tiamat does not have vast magical powers (other than her breath weapons and mid level spells), but does have greater magical and physical durability than Venger, which is why he loses to her. (Heck, for all we know DM created Tiamat to keep Venger in check)
Characters like Talpa, Shendu, Imhotep, Lord Hanzanko, Mozenrath and yes even Dracula (who when you think about it really, his magical abilities as really very limited) are all lesser powerful Wizards and Sorcerrers to Venger.
So really, while Im not saying hes at the TOP of the Archmage listing above, hes pretty darn close.
