Sin City questions

I just saw Sin City. I've never read any of the comics and I was wondering if these characters are superpowered or just really, really tough. Marv, for example, seemed to be some kind of super-soldier and Dwight jumped off that building and landed like Catwoman. And Kevin had claws? or he could find nail clippers?

I was also wondering if there was a connection between the heroes or if they're just unrelated characters in the city?

To my knowledge, there is no mention of any of these characters being superhuman. I like to think of the story as a Paul Bunyan or John Henry type thing, where the story of Marv grows in the telling, by Frank Miller. Not truly super, just more effective than less insane people.

And no, I don't think there's really any relation between the characters except for the coincidental showings at that strip club.

There are some connections, but I would advise reading them to find out. They are some of the most amazing books.

I see it as a pulp-action sort of movie where things are supposed to be a little "over the top." Just look at the way the cars drive, and the impact of the bullets. If inanimate things are that exaggerated, then certainly the characters should be equally exaggerated.
