Well, that last match wasn't as close as I thought it would be with Alex having a good lead over Jean.

I was playing Heroclix the other day, and building my team, I had 103 points left. I looked at my selection and realized that U HT Batman and R IC Hulk both cost the same. This got me thinking. Just because they are Heroclix equals doesn’t translate back translate back to comics. I think most of us would agree that Hulk could beat Batman in a fight.

That is the idea for this tournament. Every entry will be close to the same amount of points Heroclix wise, but this will be their comic forms fighting!

Rules:
This will be a standard single elimination tournament with 32 combatants. There will be 2 to a fight. They get no knowledge of each other (unless they have fought in the past). The only thing they get is the Heroclix figure of there enemies, and a PAC so they know what the opponent looks like and a bit about what they can do (this can be misleading however, like if they face Electro and think he will try to poison them). They will have 5 minutes to prepare. This is a fight to the death or KO, whichever happens first, and they must fight (no waiting for the opponent to die of starvation). They have with them what they normally carry and what there fig has if it is different. (Like how Bullseye doesn’t carry a gun, but he has one on the fig). If the fig that is being used is the rookie, you do NOT have to treat the fighter like that. (unless the characters powers change dramatically ie: Rouge)

When you vote, please try to justify your answer. You don’t have to write an essay, just a short explanation will do.

Terrain
There are 10 terrains that are all 5 miles in diameter. They will be chosen randomly.
With out further delay…

Weather Wizard
fig from HT, 31pts.
vs.
Hobgoblin
fig from IC, 34pts.

Terrain:
The Vatican City by Jackgobang
Capital of the Catholic faith, the numerous cathedrals and buildings could lead to mass destruction, but some heroes may restrain themselves so as to not destroy such relics.
(I don't mean to offend anyone, but this is still one of the terrains. I've been avoiding it for a while but it came up randomly today.)

26-30pts. winner: Zatanna

WEATHER WIZARD
Using the "weather wand" created by his brother, burglar Mark Mardon started his crime career as the Weather Wizard. Using the wand's "eolic energy," he can summon lightning bolts, start rain bursts and create tornadoes with a wave. These crime waves have been stopped by Barry Allen, the second Flash, and Batman. Even teaming up with Central City's Rogues like Captain Cold and Mirror Master hasn't led to any more success. Recently the Weather Wizard has joined with a new Rogues Gallery and received a substantial boost in power thanks to their leader, the Blacksmith.

HOBGOBLIN
Roderick Kingsley reinvented the guise of the Green Goblin when he discovered the late villain's hideout. Armed with pumpkin bombs, glove blasters and flying bat-glider, Hobgoblin started a gang war that almost destroyed New York. His plans were thwarted by Spider-man, but he always eludes capture using decoys, like brainwashed reporter Ned Leeds. When Leeds was murdered, it was Leed's wife, Betty, who finally tracked down Kingsley and revealed his identity to clear her husband's name.

Pretty darn hard to fly through a typhoon. Even harder to fly through a typhoon centered on you. Even harder to fly when the lightning in said typhoon homes in directly to strike you. The Hobgoblin is way out-classed here.

Vote: Weather Wizard

Yah...This 'aint much of a battle is it. Hobgoblin won't get close enough to use any of his weapons. My vote...

Weather Wizard again demonstrates 'ok-not-great villain amoung the rogues' means 'I still fight the Flash on a regular basis, fool!' when compared to other people.

Plus with Hobgoblin being mostly an airborne foe against a guy who controls the winds.... Mardon wins.

If Hobgoblin get's close enough he can disarm Wiz of his wand. Wiz, fortunately, has a better range on Hobgoblin, and strike him down with a single bolt of lightning before Hobby goes five feet.

My vote: Wheather Wizard.

hmmm trying to be more creative in why I am choosing Weather Wizard over Hobgoblin so my vote can be counted. Hmmm here it goes - in addition to what people were saying about Weather Wizard's capability, Weather Wizard has more experiences than Hobgoblin and Hobgoblin has never fought any speedsters. So there! :)

Weather Wizard. High density lightning storm is going to short circuit many of hobgoblins gadgets and high velocity winds are going to hamper his maneuvarbility

Snagging the wand wouldn't do as much good as an opponent might think (in fact, it's something the Wizard's used to sucker people a few times). These days WW has shown enough "connection" to the wand to do some weather effects through it (nothing equal to his full power but enough to bolt someone) and "track" it, even when not in contact with it.
