This thread rocks.

I have a three year old that owns the Princess Diaries I and II and I can't sit through either of them. I did watch Ella Enchanted all the way through and I'm dumber for having done so.

TOMMY? TOMMY??? Well, at least you didn't say Pink Floyd: The Wall. At least you get to see Anne Margret rolling around in baked beans.

One guily pleasure film of mine is Conan the Barbarian(best score ever).
The other one is The Blood of Heroes(AKA Salute of the Jugger). It has Rutger Hauer and Joan Chen among others. They play this crazy, violent game in a post apocalyptic future.
It's not a great movie, but it's fun to watch.

Mean Girls
Catwoman
Gothika
Charlie's Angels and CA: Full Throttle
Evita
Jesus Christ Superstar
Godspell
Legally Blonde
Never Been Kissed (one of my favorite movies ever; it's bad, but I love it anyway!)
Britney's Greatest Hits DVD (even more fun when you're stoned)
MOULIN ROUGE!
Batman Returns (it was a great movie!)

I really have good taste in movies...I promise...but I can't help liking these for some reason.

Suburban Commando-When Undertaker say's 'Your a dead man Ramsey' to the Hulkster I totally crack up

Howard the Duck-It was a good movie, really

Willow-Im still waiting on the part 2

Buckaroo Banzai-Peter Weller's ONLY good movie(It also has Clancy Brown, Ill watch anything he's in)

Doc Savage-Hard to find, But Worth it

All Rowdy Roddy Piper movies-They Live being at the top

And Ive personally seen over a dozen MST3K movies, Raw-IE No Mike and the Bots. Im trying to watch them all, but I think its against the Law's of man and nature to do so

Movies We always talk about on rigs- Scary Movie 1 and 2 (uncle ray ray's got a game!!!!!!!!!!!) kingpins, dodgeball ( I'm not gayyyyy, I'm BI.) Without a paddle, and of course stripes. everyone in the oilfield always talks about stripes for some reason.. ;)

Diablo4485
04/24/2005, 06:32
I'd agree on Scary Movie 2. Even now, less than a decade after its release, I've rewatched it and seen that a bulk of the jokes haven't aged well and they were mostly throwaways anyway. Yes, it's terrible. But oh well. :p

Men at Work would have to be another one. It's one of those '80s movies that follows ALL the conventions, but it's just dumb funny a lot of the time. It also helped me through quite a few hard times (it was on right after I got back from a friend's funeral and again after we put my first dog to sleep), so there's definitely some sentimental value there.

The only other one I can think of would be Hudson Hawk, which I didn't think was bad. Thing is, it was being propped as the next Die Hard, and it was just a completely different animal. Nice movie, not great, but I know I'd get guffawed for mentioning it in public. I can't say no to Andie MacDowell though. She's no Jessica, but she's still looks just as hot now as she did back then, and that's pretty hot.

Otherwise I tend to not watch movies I don't like.

Besides a lot of the ones already mentioned, here are a few other guilty pleasure movies..

*Night at the Roxxbury
*Rat Race
*Wild Wild West (I know - everyone says it was dumb and garbage but I still enjoy it..maybe I just think giant flame-throwing tarantulas are cool :) )

*The Fifth Element
*Mystery Men
*Toys (maybe people just didn't get the movie but I thought it was sharp and enjoyable, plus a great soundtrack)

*The Monster Squad (hasn't aged -that- well but still fun)
*Lost Boys (same as Monster Squad)

Okay, Flash Gordon has an awesome Queen soundtrack and a cameo by Richard O'Brien, the creator of Rocky Horror - nothing to be ashamed of there. Last Dragon was Berry Gordy's finest achievement and "the glow" is a subreference that's still utilized by my friends to this day.

I'll allow Ice Pirates, though. All it's got going for it is Bruce Vilanich and Space Herpes.

Incidentally, my entry would be the recent "Mummy" movies and "Stargate". Got a soft spot for Egyptian-themed sci fi and Rachel Weisz.

Someone on page 3 mentioned "Brotherhood of the Wolf"?! That's a great movie. Nothing to be embarassed about there.

I am somewhat ashamed however to admit that I own the Powerpuff Girls movie on DVD. And I like watching it too.

I also own "The Secret of NIMH" and "Labyrinth" on DVD as well as their movie soundtracks on CD.:classic: I also love to watch Disney's "Beauty and the Beast", and I have the CD soundtrack for that one too. Ditto "The Nightmare Before Christmas". In fact, if my life depended on it, I could even rattle off some of the lyrics from the various songs. Go on. DARE me...:classic:

I'm confused, I thought this was about movies we are ashamed we like. I don't understand how someone can be ashamed that they like The Neverending Story. That's a wonderful movie. Now if you'd said The Neverending Story 2 or 3, then that would make absolute sense. Also, I don't see how someone can be ashamed of The Last Starfighter, Legend, Labyrinth (David Bowie man!), Beastmaster (again, I'd understand if it was Beastmaster 2 or 3), The Princess Bride (one of my favorite movies ever), Dragonslayer, or a lot of the other movies that have been listed. Seriously, I think people need to explain why they are embarrassed to like some of these incredible movies. Unless the reason they are embarrassed is that a lot of these movies are fantasy, but again, I don't think that really makes sense.
