They each start on horseback on atop different hills. Between them is a desert valley dotted with the dilapitated buildings of a deserted mining town. There's a mine dug into another hill along a third side of the valley. The fourth side is open to the vast deserts of the southwestern U.S.

Tonto isn't there, but the Lone Ranger is riding Silver.

Both the Ranger and Hex have two six guns. Neither has a rifle. Both also have hunting knives.

Both have a canteen of water--enough to last about a day. The ghost town's well is dry.

Then weather is boiling hot, without a cloud in the sky. It's just before noon.

Who would win?

Hex, Lone Ranger is weak, Hex is the man

Having listened to the old raio programs on tape as I grew up, I can safely say the Lone Ranger would own Hex.

With a flash of light, a cloud of dust, and a hearty 'Hi-O Silver, away!' the masked man rides off into the sunset of victory.

Don't underestimate the Ranger, guys. He's tough as nails and as good in a fight as anyone. Whoever the final winner would be, this is no easy fight.

Only a Silver Bullet would remain as Hex picks up his sidearm and wonders...

"Who was that masked man?"

Hmmm...unlike so many of these other fights posted here, this one is truly a pretty even match.

I think Hex has the advantage in terms of tactics (he's used to working alone; Lone Ranger, despite his name, is used to having a partner watch his back) and sheer dirty fighting ruthlessness, but I think the Ranger is probably a better shot, and almost certainly a better rider (and he undoubtedly has the better horse).

Ultimately, I think this comes down to a war of attrition: Hex moves low and quick through the town, tryingto draw the Ranger in close, letting him tire himself (and Silver) out, perhaps drawing him into taking a shot every now and then. Ultimately he lures him into the mine, where he ambushes him in the dark. Ranger gets off a quick shot and wounds Hex, and they then go knife to knife.

Cut to the mine entrance, where half an hour later an exhausted, bleeding Hex emerges, a pair of shiny new silver plated Peacemakers stuck in his belt.

And promptly gets kicked in the head by Silver.
