Good day to all Realmers, Gamers, and Heroclix players. A new web site has dawned on us and we welcome in this new era of gaming. Congratulations to all the invitational tournament winners, it sounded like you fought hard and earned your wins. With that aside it is on to this weeks article. Understanding how to play the game and what to play the game is crucial to any player. Knowing what competitive figures are out there, what ones are to come and what others are playing make for better players. With this in mind I am not going to be focusing on any particular team ability, power or feat or Strategies. Instead I am going to discuss something a just as important to new and old players alike. This being HCREALMS itself.
HCREALMS is a great website and useful tool for your gaming if used correctly. It is an open forum where Heroclix players from around the world can meet up and discuss the game they love. Here you can discuss future sets, game breaking strategies and even trade your wares. If you are old hat to this arena then you probably know the ins and outs of the web site and know it’s full usage. If you are new, I hope the following information helps you out as a player. Other which way I hope any information I give you guys and gals today helps out in your views on Heroclix and improve you as a player.
HCREALMS FORUMS
The forums is the main index into the heart of Hcrealms, it guides you through the multitude of different commentaries that are out there. If you scroll through you can see every thing that HCREALMS has to offer. At the bottom you can see who is on that way you know if someone you like to talk with or value as a source of input is on.
General Discussion
The general discussion forum is the place that you can discuss all the going ons in the heroclix world. Here many people discuss things that are bothering them about the game, figures they are predicting that will come out, or about other heroclix related issues. This portion of the site is great because it offers a different venue to talk about heroclix other than just the game play. It helps prove that Heroclix is more than JUST a game, for some it helps represent who they are. When posting here and reading others information make sure to respect everyone’s point of view and their opinions. A bigotist point of view can quickly upset people and bring a worthwhile topic off subject.
Also to be found in the general discussion is the Rumor Mill. Here all the latest and greatest rumors of what is going to be coming out in future sets will be listed. It is here you can find some of the great articles from boneyard, which are rather accurate in terms of new sets. Have fun with this site and enjoy trying to pick and choose what you think Wizkids might throw our way.
Rules of Combat
Heroclix is a game whose are CONSTANTLY changing and so we must keep up some way. It is here you can ask all-important questions on the rules and hope to get a good answer from a knowledgeable party. If you are a new player and are having trouble grasping certain rules (IE how to use feats, powers, team abilities..) This is the place to ask those questions and get a pretty straightforward answer.
Strategy/Tactics
Heroclix is a game of strategy and in being so you must know the latest and greatest new techniques that are out there. It is here you can ask questions like who would go best with my Black Adam, what is the best slingshot technique, what is a good combo for __________. Much of the games basic and advanced strategies can be found here. Feel free to ask questions, and expect answers. If you are planning to become a true competitive player you must make use of this site and learn what the newest and most used strategies are being used today. Understanding good combos in the game can only improve you as a player
Combat Formations: Rate & Review
Here is where you will find me most of the time. One of my favorite things to do is build tough teams and ask people what they think of them. This is a very useful tool in terms of team building. If you want to know what people around the world like to use when they play is always helpful for you when you want to build a team. If you are unsure about your team and feel it needs a few tweaks or are unsure of what to play in general make use of this site. You might find a new technique or team build that you never thought to use. For a new player it is probably one of the most useful parts of the realms in terms of team building.

Another favorite part of the realms for me is this one. This version of the Strategy & team building is UNIVERE SPECIFIC. What this means if you are making use of an all INDY, DC or Marvel team, this is where you post. If you are seeking help in this forum don’t expect a cross-universe team to be offered as it is meant for strictly one universe.
A small tip when posting here or in the combat section; when offering up a team for consideration be specific in your thread. List the teams build total, Restricted or unrestricted (important for marvel), and whether the team is a theme team or not. This will help people in giving better and more precise advice on what your team should use.

Themes and Scenarios
Here you can find out what interesting themes and scenarios other players like to use. It is always interesting to read about new scenarios and try them out with friends. A good scenario helps break the monotony of the game, making it more fun and interesting.
HCRealms: Creative Corner
Some realmers like to be artistic with their clix and mod the figures that they feel are missing in the heroclix universe. While the figures are not legal they are always fun to look at. Also some people will display their comic book artwork as this is a game based on comic books.
The Artisan's Guild
Do you need suggestions on what paints to use or what figure pieces to use when sculpting look no further. It is here that some of the great artist and sculptors share their secrets of the trade. Feel free to ask questions and give advise on figures you are currently working on.
Costume Changes
Do you have a few figures to show off. Here is where you can leave links to show off the figure you have worked hard on building. Enjoy looking at others artwork and leave feedback on your thoughts of what you are looking at.
Custom Maps
The one thing this game needs is more maps; I know many people would like to play in an arena that is based in Gotham or maybe even Keystone city. Similar to the costume changes forum here people will show off their great MAP artwork.
User Artwork & Comics
Not all artwork people have to show off is heroclix related. This is a comic book game and in being so people do tend to have a two dimensional point of view to post out there. If you like reading personalized comics or looking at fan artwork this is the place for you.
Fan Fiction
Aspiring comic writers look no further than the fan fiction forum. If you have a good story to tell this is the place to do it. Here you will find many good reads by some good authors. (sorry most of my articles on this website are clix related).

This forum is for things that fall under OTHER in terms of information that is given to the HCREALMS public. Here you get updates from the HCREALMS staff, can suggest things to them and WIZKIDS, and even find someone to play heroclix online.

This document holds all of the great articles and news releases that are found on the front page. If you are looking for any past articles it will be here that you will find them. While much of the new information is spoken over at the heroclix General discussion, a majority of it starts here.

Dear WizKids / Dreams & Desires
Have any suggestions for WIZKIDS? Do you need to vent on something that is WIZKIDS related (What ever happened to MK dungeons for example). This is the place to do it. If you have anything you want to relay to wizkids this is where you post that information. Trust me the Wizkids staff does look at it, and often do respond.
Another Realm
Want to wax intellectual on life? Talk about the latest and greatest movies or video games? This is the place to do that. While this forum will not help you improve as a heroclix player it will allow you an outlet to discuss your other interests.
Clan Discussion Forum
If you have a favorite theme or favorite Team (Go Hydra) here you will find organized clans. This is the secret societies and clubs of the heroclix world meet to discuss new and interesting things. Check to see if there is a clan for you and join.
Online Play
Fiending to play heroclix when the venue is not open, here you can play using post by post, yahoo or MSN messenger or AOL. Find someone online to play and agree on a team build total, test yourself against some of the world’s best players. Most players on this forum use the interactive maps at http://www.creationmatrix.com. Plus if you ever want to play and I have the time I will gladly take all comers for a friendly game.
Comic Book Discussion
Are you a comic collector, or want an insight into the newest comics out there? This is the forum for you. Here fellow realmers discuss past and current comic series. Sometimes you even get some really fun trivia games as well.
Trading Forum
Another great forum!! It is here that you can trade/sell your wares to fellow clix players. If you are looking for a certain piece and have a few extras to get rid of make sure to make use of this forum. I know what you are thinking, how can you trust anyone? That is easy just look at the number next to their name (Trade rock810 (64) ) This is their trader rating and feedback left by people they have had some successful trades with.
UNITS
The units section is crucial to you as a player and for when you are building a team. Here I would suggest you build your teams before going to tournaments as that way you will not have to get out every piece you own to construct a team. I personally own almost every piece out there and make use of the units section quite a bit. Here you can find a figure with a particular ability by using the UNITS SEARCH. Make use of this forum!!! I can not stress it enough, it will help you see the stats of every figure out there and make it much easier for building teams before you go to tournaments.
JOURNALS
This is a new and great feature provided by HCREALMS. It is here you can put down personal thoughts on every day life, or on your heroclix hobby. You can choose to allow a public forum for others to read, or keep it private. Journals are important to us as individuals and help us establish a personal health and identity. Remember when reading others journals, these are their personal and private thoughts so it is not constructive to completely rag on anyone. Please try and be supportive of the people’s whose journal you are reading. Mine is always open to the public and I post every other day, unfortunately I am not the most exciting person and mostly talk about the going ons in my life, though if you want to get to know me as a person (or others) this is were to go.
Well that is HCREALMS in five pages or less. I know it is a lot to soak in, but find the forum that best fits you and enjoy. There is a little something for everyone. Just a few tips before I leave you. Make sure to turn on your PM’s (private messaging) this allows you to contact others and vice-versa. Consider this your own private e-mail system within the heroclix community. Simply go to your user/cp and go to options here you can enable PM’s. Also make sure that you are not spamming anyone, it is a quick way to get warning points. Please when responding to posts, be respectful and constructive. We are a community of individuals each with our own thoughts and ideas and wish to share them with others. We want to be in the process of building up, not tearing down in this community.
