Marvel/DC Team-Up:Round 2 Hero Match 3

Well the crome plated one can't seem to catch a break with his well....'endowed' partner, but there haven't been a lot of votes, so you could change that before the round ends. Make sure you vote.

Since I'll be out of town for most of the weekend, we're getting match 3 a little early. Let's see how these big boys bounce.

Match Locale:

Thanagarian Battleship

This ship of the line was recently seen prowling the former Rann system. Large, open areas are spread between the smaller crew quarters and other various rooms. Designed for a flying race, it has surprising room for aerial maneuverability in the connecting corridors. Due to the intense radiation from the Supernova in system, the ships walls have been upgraded to be unbreachable, and proof against any move to enter or leave the ship.

ROE:

1. Fights are to the kill/ko
2. Teams start on opposite ends of the arena
3. Characters opperate as they would in their own comics/universes
4. 45 minutes prep time, but the arena may not be affected untill the buzzer
5. Characters may not leave the arena, or remove enemy characters from the arena

still don't know much about samaritain after reading one of the astro city books and reading peoples comments on this board. But would tend to side with Martian Manhunter and Adam Warlock as together i think they have to broad a power base compared with she hulks convential close range grounded brick. But not going to vote yet

Hmmm, kind of, again, depends where you are getting your Martian Manhunter from...As I mentioned in my longish post about Samaritan (which Im guessing no one read, based on votes against "Cosmic Boy and Justice" neither of which were actually in the fight) Samaritan could be more than a match for Superman in some situations...unfortunatly I think "John Jones" could take Supes in a stand up fight a heck of a lot more than half the time...No real idea who would win between She Hulk and Adam Warlock, as I have never actually seen Warlock in a comic...kind of a wierd ommision on my part...but I think Team Manhunter has the edge.

Actually I see Samartin tieing both of them up long enough for She Hulk to grap some weapons and take out Adam Warlock, which is impressive a hw taking down a shw, and since Samartin little alien radio thing might be able to pick up Thangarian signels he will know how to use whatever the ship has lying around.

I vote for Manhunter and Warlock.

In addition the soul channeling properties of Nth metal is something that Warlock could theoretically use to his advantage, not definently ut something to watch for given the prep time. The more limited mobility of She-hulk and the fact that Warlock and Manhunter can maintain constant comunication is also a factor.

Samaritan’s speed is no greater than any other top tier powerhouse. The only reason speed has even come up is because S was depicted calculating the time it takes him to solve problems. That's just Busiek's take on the reality of a superman (just like "Marvels" was a look at the reality of MARVEL supers).

Samaritan ? Superman, which means that the Martian Manhunter can match his speed for short periods of time.

Get over the speed issue.

Samaritan's real advantage in this battle rests in access to the zyxometer in the 45-minute prep time. With that darn alien computer S will be able to uncover EVERYTHING about his opponents before the game begins. His Empyrean Web is also a nice tool simply because we really don't know what it's capable of beyond TK and Force Wall. But honestly, I don't believe Martian Manhunter would even be slowed down by an energy web of that sort (desolidification, invisibility, speed, strength, shapechange, mental powers and all)

Asa’s mind is still human (albeit future human) and J'onn will have no problem staying active long enough to shut him down.

And as for the mind control samartin will learn about that very fast in the prep time and find some sort of hawk-helmet or something that will prevent it, he'll find one for she-hulk to.

To me its not about Samaritan, its about She Hulk. She simply isnt in the weight class of her opposing HW (Adam Warlock), and should lose quite handioly to him. That leaves Samaritan to battle MM and AW together, and I dont think even he is capable of such things. If he had a better partner, it could go to either, but with the She Hulk as his partner, I cant see a win for them against Team MM.

Oh, and Im pretty sure Superman can fly around the earth in seconds as well, as Flash can certainly run that fast too.

In Terra-Incognita Martian Manhunter circled the Earth in mere moments destroying several mind cotnrol, towers erected by white martians (destroying each on in a single frame) in just a few seconds. He had brought down every single one before anyone could even tell what was happening. This was after J'onn had been beat on for several days and was pretty weak. Nothing the Samaritan is doing speed wise is beyond his foe. Considering that Hawkman can't muster some kind of thanagarian mental defense device I somehow doubt that Samaritan is gonna find one just laying around.

Okay will consed the speed issue, but I dont see Manhunter mind controlling Samartin. Samartin is the lead hero on his world and on that team he fights plenty of people with mind control. Heck the first family has anti mind control things they slap on there for heads (they are about the size of a belt buckle) I am sure samartin can force manhunter into a fist fight, which I just dont see manhunter winning. And even if Adam Worlock is a shw She hulk in full thangarian armor should be enough to take him down. (especially if she hulks out).

Eclipsio (inhabiting Superman's body) recently told Captain Marvel...

So, that's almost half way around the world... as fast as Captain Marvel can blink. Assuming the average human can blink in 1/10th of a second... and (I guess) Eclipso is assuming that the Speed of Mercury will allow Captain Marvel to blink faster... Then Superman could travel around the world in less than a second.

All that really doesn't matter. It just serves to point out that they have about the same speed.

As for anti-mind control doohickeys... I'm not putting much merit into devices that can be easily taken away. No one can stop MM from going anywhere he wants. And let's not forget Adam Warlock's eldritch powers and significant cosmic power.

Nope. Whatever Samaritan is going to do... It'll have to be on the merits of his innate abilities.

BTW: She-Hulk, though a smart and powerful adversary, is just about worthless in this fight.. Her lack of flight renders her moot until MM and AW finish off their fight with Samaritan and take the fight to her.

Ummm, as for She-Hulk in "full Thanagarian armor"... Whose to say that MM and AW won't also be in "full Thanagarian armor"?......... Okay, it sounded stupid when you said it RB, now it sounds ever more stupid. :cheeky:

I dont think it is dumb at all, is she-hulk is going up against two shw then she will get suited up if it will give her a edge, at least she will get a pair of wings. I dont think it is a problem that Martian Manhunter can go anywhere, in a strait up fight i see samartin winning. But the only way Manhunter could win is if he uses his mind.

She gets a pair of wings she doesn't know how to use. Hawkgirl trained for half a year before trying to use hers once, and she had someone there to tell her what to do, and was the reincarnation of the old Hawkgirl. If Manhunter needs to use his mind to win then he's golden, Adam Warlock's most dangerous trait is his planning ability, he is called the god killer because of it. The plans that this team is going to churn out to beat people, especially when they have such a communication and maneuverability advantage, to say nothing of the abiltiy to read their foes minds, should be truly terrifying.

It looks like alost cause at this point, but I'll throw in for Samaritan as well. The speed factor that most people overlook is that Superman and J'onn don't have an aura to protect themselves or (more importantly) the enviroment from their wake.

If J'onn moves that fast within the ship, he would destroy it. Samaritan's Empyreal Web apprently functions as protective aura since he regularly travels that fast within an atmosphere.

Between that and his supercomputer, he could devise a plan to defeat his opponent's with She-hulk's help.
