I'm all psyched out and ready for this game! Here's the official website which just opened a few days ago:

http://www.xmenlegends2.com (http://)

There are only 4 characters that have been revealed so far: Wolverine (of course), Storm, Magneto and Juggernaut!!! Check out the videos!! The game intro also borrows some scenes from X-2!

If they got rid of Colossus to make room for Juggernaut, I doubt I'll buy it.

This is looking SO awesome! They KNOW how to do super hero video games! Its great that it provides the uniforms for both the new and classic characters so that you have a choice. Not having that choice will make me probably stay away from the Ultimate Spiderman game (I hate Ultimate Electro!).
The trailor shows Mystique and Sabertooth(who looks a lot like Wolverine though!), as well as Juggernaut joining in. I see they show the bald Bishop, I wonder if the old uniform has his long hair version. Apocolypse looks coolishly evil! MAN THEY HAVE JUST GOT TO DO AN AVENGERS VERSION THIS WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DO AN AVENGERS VERSION! DO AN AVENGERS VERSION! DO AN AVENGERS VERSION! DO AN AVENGERS VERSION! DO AN AVENGERS VERSION!

Heinrich
05/27/2005, 08:38
Holy Smoke! I just looked at the trailor in slow (pause) motion, and its got ARCHANGEL in it doing a wicked slicing wing spin against Bishop and Wolverine. Perhaps the 4 horsemen will be emphasized! This is going to be soooooo good!

Watching the XMen cartoon episode tonight, about Apocolypse capturing the psychics to stop time at the Nexus of time. It seem to be a good fit as to what we are seeing in the Legends II video game previews. Using this cartoon as a basis, you may see Mr. Sinister, The Nasty Boys, Rachel Summers, Cable, Shard, The 4 horsemen, Kane from Six Pack, Stryfe, Mesmero, Immortus, the Gamemaster, Thyphoid Mary, Domino. It opens up a lot of possibilities. All would be great!

I think it was review on IGN or saw in a magazine but it did say that Apocolypse and the 4 hourseman would be villians, and savage land would be a location.

I just hope the fix the 2 bigest problems with the first

1. The AI needs to be better, too many times I had one of my own teammates running off cliffs or standing in fire.

2. The game should roll over when you are finished, that way you could play the game over with your characters at the same power level. Add on a new difficulty level, this will give the game more playablility like Baulders gate, Diablo etc...

I'm still bent out of shape that it took so long to get to Colossus in the first one. I wanted to play the WHOLE GAME with him. And I think Archangel is a bad guy.

Chee hee! Mr. Sinister! His face doesn't look as demonic as I'd like to see, but it's still cool that we have him in this game. The Qwardian, I think you can add brood to the list because there was pics of them in the insect tunnels.

OMG, where to start?

I really liked X-men legends, but after beating it twice, I decided it was worth selling back to the store. Surprisingly, it had some excellent buy-back value.

Colossus was TOO cool in that game if he was used right. A lot of people didn't use him right. I shoved a ton of points into his knockbacks and his Charge, and he was a monster when I had him. My friends and I were playing Gauntlet-style, and when I did the knockback combo on a baddie, it sent him off of the screen and still into a wall. My friends initial reaction: "HOLY @#%@!!!"

And if you gave him enough screen room, his charge was scary too. I loved how my controller shook and the screen shook a little too when he used it. Not to mention what happened to the receiver of it.

Then of course, the fastball special was nice too. My friend always took Wolvie, and I kept throwing him into crates and stuff instead of just smashing them, because it was so much funnier.

Anywho, discarding Colossus would be a big no-no.
I would ditch the White Queen, Psylocke, Jubilee, and perhaps one or two others from the old game. They just really weren't all that effective in the old game, or they came too late in the game for me to care.

And if they put Rogue in this next one (which I can't see how they couldn't), they need to make her much much more useable. She was way too slow and used up way too much energy to fly.

They also need to change how they factor in Wolvie's damage. He's a killer, but he HIT harder than anyone else in the game. That's not really comic-realistic. His blades need more precision than continually jabbing them into the same spot repeatedly.

Anywho, I'm excited about this one coming out, but I think it'll be a close call between this and Nemesis for me.

Sugerman is a character from the Age of apocalypse saga. He is a hideous mutant who ran the "Seattle Core" for Apocalypse, a power plant that used mutant slaves for energy (ala the Matrix).

The Qwardian
06/26/2005, 19:46
Isnt he also the guy that eats people?

R0GUE
06/26/2005, 21:42
According to the Marvel Database his powers are:

Sugar Man is a mutant with the ability to control his mass. He can become larger or smaller based on his mass distribution. He possesses four arms and a tongue that can shoot up to ten feet. The tongue is dense enough to be used as a weapon. He also seems to have an enhanced sense of smell that allows him to smell fear.

Nothing about him eating people, but I certainly imagine he could. I read AoA but i can't recall if he ever devoured anyone.

The Qwardian

He is in the opening video........hmmm.

I will make the changes next update.

I will also add to the list a few others, Angel being playable, and some new bosses such as

Four Horsemen of Apocalypse (Archangel/Death, War, Psetilence, Famine)
Holocaust
Marrow
Sentinals

Prof X may be on the chopping block as far as playable characters. same as Beast

R0GUE

The Qwardian

He could be a playable character and a villian like Angel.

R0GUE
06/30/2005, 01:52
I don't know if they've confirmed that any of the bosses will be "palyable" or "unlockable" have they? I know they will most likely be unlocked for the Danger Room again, but as for the gase itself, I am not sure. Still, he'd go in your "enemies" section if Wizard mag is to be trusted.

The Qwardian
06/30/2005, 03:25
I've been getting my info from alot of sources, so far it has all panned out, one source leaked that you will be able to use a villian(s) after you defeat them. Angel is the number one suspect right now.

My biggest concern about this game right now is the Multiplayer part. Not the co-op, the player-vs-player. It blew chunks in the original Legends. They need to give four-player access to any of the maps and just let them go all out on each other. No small rooms, no time limits...just a huge map and infinite DEATH.

Another thing that would be nice (and add the almighty replayability factor) is to let you restart the game after you beat it with your leveled-up characters.

The roster looks good so far...hopefully they'll cut down on the useless characters like Emma and Jubilee.

Emma was occasionally useful - I liked her ability to make enemies run away and give you time to get positioned.

Jubilee, eh. And Gambit. Don't forget Gambit. Always useless, always worthless.

I would like to be able to play through again after being leveled to the max, though. But then again, I love video games where you can just kick ### and not worry too much about dying.

FoxInStocks
08/10/2005, 15:58
Yes...I must admit, that was one thing Emma was good for. However, it didn't justify her existence in the game at all.

But Gambit useless? No way. Once you really powered up his kinetic punch thing and his staff slam, he was awesome against physical-resistant guys.

I think part of the games problem was that several of the characters weren't that good compared to someone else...and THAT was due to some characters, like Wolverine and Cyclops, being too good too early. I mean, remember that level in NYC where you meet Bishop, and fight billions of Sentinels? I beat almost the entire thing with JUST Wolverine. Everyone else died, and so I just had Wolvie hit, run, regen, and hit all the way through.

I wouldn't say Gambit is useless. I'd use him and psylocke together every chance I could. Both of their boosts to help the team out really pack a punch. For fun I'd run Colossus, Gambit, Psylocke, and Emma, Beast, Wolverine, or Rogue. That's my up in your face team. :classic:

One you make Storm's Lighening Attack into Legendary status the game was over.

You just had Storm walk into a room and use her Legendary Lighening. She cleared the room except for a couple guys (usually resistant to energy) and then you had a brawler (like Wolve) finish those off.

Game was easy.

The question is...who ever used Storm enough to level her up? No one in my group did. I think we used her once, declared her useless, and moved on to Jean Grey, who was fun.

Now, Colossus made things easy once you Legend-ed up his Hand-clap thing.

I found Storm when she had her Tornado powered up was so dominate that it almost became too easy. One Tornado swoosh and all enemies were reeling.

The X-men legends game was not challenging at all unless you used jubilee as your main fighter. All of the powers had very similar effects no matter who you chose. Hopefully the next game will pose more of a challenge. BTW for the sentinel level the first time I beat the game I used the same tactic with wolverine, second time around I just used nightcrawlers flurry attack with nimrods hammer.

Highlights:

Magneto, Juggernaught, Colossus, Cable on allies, and Deadpool, Apocalypse, Sugarman, and Mr. Sinister for enemies. It just seems too cool.

Which is why I am skeptical this list is real............... :(

Here's another reason: IGN claims that Jubilee is in the game. Jubilee doesn't appear on this list. So, either the list is fake OR the hacker missed Jubilee. Take it for what you will.

DEADPOOL?!?!?!?! Holy #### in a hat, this game is gonna ROCK! Wow, he has to be the last person I'd expect to see. Too bad you can't play him as an ally as well.

Bastion? Hmm, he seems like more of a major boss guy. Odd they have him share the spotlight with Apocalypse.

####ING A!

Now I'm definately going to have to buy the game!

And Iron Man too! That's pretty sweet.

It's a bummer Psylocke's not in it, but I won't lose sleep over it. I can't believe there's actually people that are that enthusiastic about Jubilee. I never played as her in the first game because she looked horrible (and I think the character's lame too).

I have to wait too, Dj Sha! I was looking at the web site and I have a couple of questions. Is Grizzly being a villain part of the Ultimate line or something, because he was an ally of Cable in Six Pack. I'm missing something there!
Is it just me or does everyone in this game seem to have some sort of pulse wave? Something about that doesnt' seem right.
Holocost and Sauron will be great and I will have to do some homework on Abyss. He looks like someone who would know Shadow King.

Among the Missing listed, I know Iceman is one of the missing. I believe Pheonix will fit on either the enemies or allies, but I'm not sure on that one.

Hopefully someone out there who bought the game can clue us in!

Ok, I couldn't wait and sold the farm to get the game. Its awesome! I was estatic to find that Stryfe (Screenshots on the website) was in the game! To each his own, but he is one of my favorite villains! And considering Stryfe, Apocolypse, and Grizzly is in the game, it is my bet that Cable is the last XMan! It would make sense to me. Its like the first game showed you how to play it, and the second game throws you right into the middle of the action!

Slight Spoiler:

Grizzly was early in the game and he explained that he was a hired gun eager for a "killin Spree". That reminded me that that is why Domino (I believe it was her) had to kill him (in the comics) to keep him from killing more. Now the Villain tag makes sense!

In regards to the blue x items:

Some of you guys said previously in this topic a few pages back that Gambit was useless???

WTF are U guys smoking!? lol

I totally trashed the first Legends game with Gambit.
I had it where he could drop Sentinels in just a few attacks. He had a hard time against the Sentinel Platforms though-but didn't every character? lol

He's one of the best well rounded characters in the game. He has ranged attacks, melee extroidanaire, and he can kinetcially boost his teammates speed and defenses up.

Onward....(MINOR spoilers):

I just got XmenII a few days ago and I am waiting to fully explore the game when my kiddos come over tonight as they will be pissed that I started it without them but can U blame me? Well yeah but I'm a X-Men fanatic...

I have played through most of the first level. I have not gotten to Abyss yet who is the first boss.

Noticable changes from the first game and this one:

Beast is just a storefront now.
You buy things from both he and Forge.
I didn't like Beast that much in the first game anyways.

Angel is first off a support/non playable character-then becomes an enemy.

Yes the 4 Horsemen are in the game.

The game has AoA characters like Mikhail and Abyss. Oh and Blink.

Blink is a non playable character though that gives you access to her 'ports at anytime, anywhere in the game after you find her. She's in the first level.

The blue X's/savepoints are now able to take you to any other X in the game. makes travelling much easier. They work the same as Blinks 'portals.

Now the BIGGIE: GAMEPLAY.

I noticed that this game has had an upward powercurve.

My level 4 characters were taking out the first level enemies with like one or 2(at the most)single blows. Even the Brood dropped fast. Iceman's icebeam does major damage now.

Most of the characters appear for use in the first level. So you Colossus fans that hated the fact you had to wait for him halfway through the first game(same as with Psylocke-GrrrRRR!)will rejoice! Only 3 characters remain unlocked or for you to find.

I hope one is Mystique-but I doubt it as she's already talking trash to the Xmen in the first level by Magneto, then she's standing sidelined by Sanctuary. Bummer. :disappoin

But the bosses are the challenge.
I got to subboss Zealot and he took a huge beating from my combos and he still was standing. They make you chase them around too. I did fight subboss Grissley as well before reaching Zealot. He was a bit easier than Zealot as he was a minor boss. But Magneto, Wolvie, Gambit, and Iceman combo'ed him out easily.
Magneto is just plain MEAN...

Storm no longer has leadership-they gave that to Magneto and Cyclops.

My characters levelled up INSANELY fast using both Mags and Cyks with their leadership both up to level 3.
My combos were netting just under a 1000 experience points with both guys on the same team.
JOY!!!
Iceman is one of the main bridgebuilders, and you will have to have a bridgebuilder in the first level. I'm sure Jean Grey is one too, but I haven't checked her out yet. Something about that just sounds WRONG.

All the mutant abilties can be unlocked quickly. Some require a certain character level and some just require the initial prerequisite power to unlock it's next level up simultaneously.

This is part of why the power curve amped up.

I am wondering if the game is only going to be fun/playable on hard setting?

I hate it when a game is TOO easy to beat.

There are tons of powerups and gear everywhere.
The gear, belts etc are all different from the first game and add differing abilities. All have different names.
There are also power up stations along the way that let one charcter touch them and take whatever it is they add to the fightingers' stats.

But so far I am impressed and stoked.

I can't wait to engage Deadpool, Omega Red, ArchAngel, etc.

Oh, and all the AoA costumes are available. Magneto with a ponytail!!! yeah!!!

I love, love, LOVE the AoA tie in with this game like Sugarman etc.
He's one of the most sick n twisted villians ever created.

That alone sold me on it as I think AoA was/is the best ever Xmen story to date.

Also I am glad that Emma Frost is not a playable character in XmenII. She was a great melee fighter in the first, but Psylocke was much more fun and a better fighter IMO.
Too bad Psylocke's not in the sequal(???), but I can forgive that offense as there are some great characters to keep me interested.
I'm not sure who the final unlockable character will be as it's still not up on the official website yet.

And of course-my boy Gambit!!! I am already playing the game as him and he can definately hold his own.

Jubilee BTW-was great in the first one. She held her own easily if you knew how to play her.

Begin rant now:

I have ONE beef though with XmenII.

WTF did they give the PS2 and PC versions EXTRA characters to play as but not the Xbox!!!???

That is just SO wRonG....lol

/rant.

My kiddos and I got to play through the game a bit now.

We defeated Abyss. He was so kewl looking and very true to his AoA persona during our battle.

We found that there are some very powerful team boosting abilities some characters have-especially Bishop.

With Bishop on our team we trashed Omega Red in one megacombo hit from Bishop, Mags, Gambit, and Nightcrawler.

So far the hardest boss to beat has been Sugarman, but again with Bishop, we wailed him into submission.

We are now in the Madri Temple.

LadyDeathstrike was harder to beat than the other subbosses so far that we fought.

She turns green for some reason while fighting her and she is very fast.

As you beat some bosses and regular enemy characters-they appear in the dangeroom for you to use the same as in the first Legends game.

I picked this game up a few days ago and I'm most of the way through Act4. I'm a big fan of how they altered the characters to make them significantly more different this time around, as well as giving you access to a limiltess amount of skill points so you can't screw yourself into a corner. Sadly the difficulty hasn't been increased much. I'm also glad that after you beat the game the first time you can ply again with all your levels and equipment in hard (where the enemies apparently start at level 50).

What teams/characters is everyone haveing success with? I'm greatly enjoying Jean Grey, Juggernaut, Sunfire, and Scarlet Witch.

The Madri are more of a challenge than the rest of the enemies I've faced so far.
They are very well organized and fight pretty tough when in a group. And they are backed up by some type of giants at times...

I have been taking on the Madri quite easily though with this team all in AoA costumes:

Gambit, Mags, Cyks, Toad.

G&C are at level 30, Mags is at 29, and Toad is at 25.

I have Toads defense up insanely high from all the gear etc, and Mags leadership is almost maxed out.

Gambits Mutant mastery is almost maxed out as well.

He regens energy really fast to support his card and staff attacks.

I throw him into groups and staffslam them to death with a hp regen item on his belt.
It gives him a little hp everytime he kills a foe............eViL!

I haven't figured out yet if the enemies are weaker or if the heroes got stronger in LegendsII.

I think it's a little of both with a tad more leaning towards the mutant abilty side.

I am about in the middle of the game right now (just finished the factory with Guardian), and Storm is the first of my figures to reach the 20 level mark. Its an exciting thought that with all of these characters, each one can become so killer at this level. For some reason, its always Storm for me. I think its because she is the only one I know that can clobber people without going into the room. And when I use Juggernaut as her offensive line to keep villains off of her, there doesn't seem to be anyone she can't smash with that lightning bolt of hers. But her gaining in powers make me want to see what the others can do. The action is fast and great and I love it.

I like the Scarlet Witch. She and Colossus have been on all my teams - especially after Mystique, I think, made the comment that Wanda's been drooling over him.

She can turn enemies into crates... and when I fought the Sugar Man, he somehow immediately killed everybody but Wanda, and she was able to finish him off by her lonesome. She's got my vote.

Anyone else have Colossus dying on them FAR too easily all the time? It's driving me nuts, how often he's gotta go through health potions.

I was trying to use all characters by using the 4 characters with the lowest levels to start each level. Some would get damaged quicker than others and I would retreat and get the next 4. But now I am in the Madri Temple, and after slicing through my bottom 4 like butter, I have had to resort to my bigger guns. Storm at level 23, Nightcrawler to get into places nobody else can and escape to the extraction mark when needed, Iceman to make bridges and freeze multiple opponents, and for the last usually Juggernaut, but it could be Bishop, Magneto, or Colossus depending on what was needed. Bishop for range and strength, Magneto as a Jack of all powers, Juggernaut as Super Muscle, and Colossus when I think he can handle it. Like somebody noticed, Wolverine has been almost non existent.

My team was mainly the Brotherhood. +15% xp is hard to pass up.

I've used Wolvie just to get various conversations with the NPCs.

Fave team by far

Deadpool - all round brawler, guns and swords
IronMan - Flying superstrength is a must
Juggs - All round tank
Phoenix - Psychic and telekenisis rules

About Colossus dying easily. I almost always pump up his Body when he levels and going into a fight I always use his steel skin power. So he has never died on me.

My favorite battle so far has been against Sugar Man. I played as Toad and we had a battle of the tongues! LOL

My favorite group so far is: Cyclops, Wolverine, Colossus, and Jean (I had been using Magneto, but swapped out for Jean).

Cyclops, once he gets his irradiated beam deal is pretty brutal. I wasted Omega Red and Mikhail without even trying with it (and I mean flat wasted them).

I don't know why, but Juggernaut just doesn't work for me. He's always getting the snot kicked out of him (maybe it's his no defensive powers thing, which totally blows my mind for juggernaut). Colossus always lasts and lasts and lasts with his various passive def buffs.

I know Ironman, Xavier, and Deadpool are unlockable, who else can you pick up?

Also, is there anyway to get Ironman or Deadpool onto the team sans beating the game and collecting all of IM's armor?

turdburglar47
10/02/2005, 09:31
I don't think there are any cheats to unlock them, no. But thainkfully, you can go back and grab what you missed later, which is good for me attempting to get Iron Man.

Is there some sort of trick to making power combos happen? I can't for the life of me pass any of the Danger Room things that involve making 10 power combos happen, because it seems so random. The closest I came was getting Colossus to toss dudes at his teammates, but the accuracy on those throws isn't what it should be.

Still not to Deadpool. Just whipped Bastion's ### though.

Colossus, Magneto, Wolverine and Scarlet Witch are my main four. If Rogue had her Australian era outfit, I'd stick Rogue and Storm on it and have the Outback Days with Colossus and Woofie. I love the Siberian Express. I love the Metal Minion.

Power combos are pretty difficult i find.

I did manage to pass them and here's how...

Combo with little maggots, I had Iceman, Jean, Scarlet and used Sunfire....
All I did was time Jean's Psychic Scream/Dark Phoenix with my Lava Post and voila (spam the call for help button as well). Would have worked well with Storm of Cyclops.

Combo vs humanoids in cage area, I had Juggs, Colossus, Deadpool and Toad. In this case it was a bit easier since my "power" combos consisted of Batter Up..

If someone's interested in playing online some time, drop me a line

An incredibly easy way to score combos:

Use one character who can throw human sized opponents. Grab your foes, and throw them back at your fellow mutants. They will punch/kick/power them and you can rack combos up.

I'm in New York right now, and using Colossus or Juggernaut to throw the infinites/etc back to my crew.

With Cyclops and Magneto on the team, both with several points in leadership you can make a fair ammount extra in combos.

Yeah. I mean, I've played the first one numerous times, and I'm pretty far into this one. I know what the blue X's do, but I cant seem to get this one to activate. I'm running Magneto, Juggs, Wolvie, and Scarlet Witch in my team, and I've tried the tk, and pushing it, but nothing has happened, and I cant seem to access it at all. I just dont know...

Ok, I think I know the problem you're having if you haven't figured it out yet.

I got to the same machine and had some trouble. Is it just one the other side of a bridge?

I have found that you need certain Brotherhood characters on your team at times and certain Xmen as well to complete some levels.

Usually it's Magneto(flyer, bridgebuilder, and he triggers switches from a distance, etc) for the Brotherhood, and Nightcrawler(teleporter) for the Xmen.

I got past your machine using Magneto.

No other character was able to access this one for some reason.

I think it's the co-op story line why we need certain Brotherhood and Xmen at times.

Good luck.

I scored a major combo on Omega Red.

It was a mega powercombo or something and I got thousands of ex points.

I did it with Bishop and his Xpower move that enhances all ex power moves and doesn't use any characters ex up.

Bishops team was: Mags, Cyks, and Gambit(my boy!).

We hit Omega Red all at the same time with Bishop in his superpower move-can't recall it's name right now.

Omega Red dropped in one hit bro.

One hit!

He never even got his tentacles whipped out or anything.

I played it over once just to give the poor slob a chance.

He managed to get one or 2 hits in the second time.

A thing I love to do in this game is to play king of the hill with Jean Grey in New York on the Railway platform. I fly up there and knock all enemies back down the stairs with her TK. I can also knock them down in the subway holes then pummel them with Storms lightning bolts. And Along the same lines are using Colossus with a powered up uppercut and backing up enemies to high railings, then slugging them Street Fighter style high and over the railing and watching them drop. This was especially great to do in the tower! ITS A REAL HOOT!

I think he is right. For this game they are asking for specific characters to use the blue X. For the Machine on the other side of the bridge, I found Rouge sapped its power with no problem. I may of had her flying, I can't remember. But I had to go back and get her because she was the only one that I knew specialized in draining power.

WHY ISN'T THERE A XORN SKIN FOR MAGS?

Okay, I've unlocked Deadpool now. I also love being able to keep the leveled-up stuff in a new game. Wolverine kills goons in one slash now. Not that I'm playing him anymore with DEADPOOL.

I haven't gotten to play him too much yet, though. I like his crazy laugh for the wisecrack power, and his Nitrogen bomb move looks awesome.

Does Rogue only ever get three skins?

Heinrich
10/08/2005, 15:03
When you go to the change character screen, choose a character and press L2, I think it is. It is noted on the task bar at the bottom when it is availiable. Most you don't get until later in the game.

Quick question: I accidentally didn't defuse the two bombs in the Seawall area, and also didn't destroy the last mooring. Will this affect me later in the game (as in not being able to get Deadpool, since that's my main goal)?

Heinrich
10/09/2005, 05:27
I can't say it will actually stop you later in the game. But I am at a point in the last level (level 5) that everything I have tried hasn't worked, and I think its because of some things I hadn't accomplished earlier in the game, so I am now going back and finding all the beacons, and such. Only time will tell if that is what I am missing.

It seems to me after my first character (Storm) got past 20, she began to get progressively more powerful, and the gear she wore began to make more of a difference and even more fun was that the abilities began to unlock more and more at a quicker rate. I did think Colossus was going to be lame until he started going up in his 20's, and now with that Thunderclap of his and his uppercut, he has become almost dominant. So I look forward to seeing what all characters can do as the reach higher levels. It is as if they become different characters because of the difference. I'm sure your team will do quite well. But be prepared to change when the game provides a task for a limited list of Xmen.

Two words for Colossus: "Siberian Express."

I agree.

I like how both Colossus and Rogue have been improved from the first game.

I have one beef though-WHY DID PS2 GET CABLE AND NOT XBOX!?!

I would have loved to have teamed up Cable, Deadpool, Bishop, and Gambit for the second go round.

Oh well.

I'd rather have Cable than Prof X again.

Even more so than Iron Man although I have not gotten his armor yet.
I would have liked to have had maybe either Havok, Mystique or Sabretooth in Iron Man's place.

Maybe this is a preview of an Avengers game along the same formula as Xmen Legends?
I'd be into that for sure.

After I beat this game and get Deadpool, I am going to play it on hard level as the AoA damage boost to the characters is just plain broken after they all reach level 25.

Deadpool only lasted about 5 seconds when I beat the snot out of him with Nightcrawler, Juggernaut, Colosuss, and Gambit. Gambit is the only one who does not kill everything now in like one hit.

When I put all of them into AoA costumes, their attacks are around 1000 each, and their defenses are insanely high.

After getting Colosuss his special enhancement(regenerative armor?) from his danger room program, he can literally stand in place and get beat on and his health bar barely goes down!

It's sick I tell ya.

I felt so bad for the game, I toned it down some by using some of the characters that were not as high in experience.

I used Magneto(for leadership mostly) along with Storm, Rogue, and at first Scarlet Witch but changed her out for Gambit again. I got tired of her turning enemies into wooden boxes. lol

With the gals and Mags all in AoA costumes, they were still trashing opponants with ease.

I just got to ArchAngel.

So far this is the wyldyst part of the whole game with that teleporter beam running amok.

Combos are best done with Magneto, and some bricks with might.

Magnetos little magnetic spin sucks in enemies and lets your bricks score combos when you release the button and fling the peons.

That or grab foes with X (on xbox, dunno on PS2) and throw them at your fellow team-mates.

You will rack up the combos quickly.

I've come to the conclusion that a powered up Magneto is totally borken. He eventually gets an ability which not only increases his armor rating, but also reduces the damage he takes. Toss in flight, leadership, mutant master, and levitation, bridge building, along with some slow/freeze attacks at range....borken.....borken....oh yeah, and borken....

Are you talking about the part in the temple with the 4 Statues? I have tried every power and combo that I can think of to do this. (To the point of spending tech bits to redistribute my skills to beef up powers and then rearrange them to try others.) And I can't seem to mave the dang thing!

When moving the sun dial, only one of the statues can be destroyed at a time, and then a new one comes up to be destroyed. All the rest are invulnerable untill they get selected in turn.

I don't know if the selection is random or not, but the first one for me was on the far right side of the chasm.

To tell the truth, too many nights falling asleep and letting my hours played run up has killed me. Refering back to a previous Wolverine game, I guess you can say Elsie Dee came for me after the 75th hour. The game wouldn't let me play without it freezing up after 75 hours, so I had to delete my progress up to that 5th level and go back to another saved game way back in the middle. At least I didn't have to completely start over. This time, Storm, Colossus, Rogue and whoever I may need to fill the fourth for the rest of the way, and not as much brousing around smashing useless stuff.

To beat the combo challenge from Sophmore and above just grab enemies and throw them into your team, the "Batter Up" combo counts for your total, it may take a few tries if you are killing your enemies really quick. In Freshmen take Bishop and as many area effect/multi-hit characters you can find (I prefer Nightcrawler, Storm, and someone else) tie Nighcrawler's multi-teleport and Storms hailstorm to the call for help button. Play as Bishop and use his Superconductor Extreme move constantly then unload as many area attacks as possible while pushing the call for help button constantly, eventually you will brute force your way to success. The "whoever" that is in the last slot is Professor X.

Deadpool

Gambit and Deadpool do alot of combos together.

Storm
Wolvie
Nightcrawler
Colosuss

Toad

I tried a few things to help alleviate the freeze up problem.

First off, I got rid of as much gear and stuff in my hero stash by either selling it off to Forge or dropping it. Then I made sure it was never maxed out.

Then I kept all of my characters that weren't being used in regular play levelled up.

The first few times the game froze up on me, it was about midway through the Core I believe. I shut the console off right after it happened and let the unit cool down.

I noticed it froze up usually after long sessions of play.

But during the battle with Apocalypse, it froze up without the unit being on for hours.

That's when I sold off my excess gear to Forge.

Then I was persistant.

If the game froze up-I kept rebooting it and eventually got past the freeze up problem.

I do not know what causes it-but I suspect it was something in the memmory like already mentioned combined with extended playtime.

It took me about 4-6 tries to get past Apocalypse this way.

I found another weird memmory glitch early in the game.

I ended up with 2 of the same special gear belts specifically for Scarlet Witch.
I don't know how.
I think it was the one that appears in that little side/underground tunnel section that merely links 2 hallways early in the Madri Temple.

The game would not let me equip her with one of them until I got rid of the one that was in my hero stash.

In fact, I was not even able to see it listed on Scarlet Witch's belt inventory screen, but it would appear on all the other characters screens.

I could see it on Rogues, but not on Scarlet's.

Weird huh?

After finally getting a new memory card and restarting, I finally beat the game! Adding Iron Man to fight with the mutants is cool! If only they would of let you play with the Beast and Quicksilver so that you could of done an Avengers team! Now as to the last beacon in level 5, I don't know which one you are talking about, but one I found was in the corner of a somewhat small room in the Labyrinth, I believe. I only remember that its shade of green had it blend in and I almost didn't see it among the debris of the broken wall. I don't remember the others well except to say that they all seem to been found in hindsight and by stumbling accidently on to them. But they were all found soon enough before Tony Stark could be rescued so that Iron Man could help against Apocolypse.

The ONE time I got the other two guys to be patient enough to get 4 people, we had a blast, but that's probably one of the biggest reasons why "nobody is playing". Nobody is patient enough to leave a game up for more than 10 seconds.

Still waiting for this game to arrive here in New Zealand, and with Colossus one of my favorites in the first game (LOVE that Knockback), I was itching to try Juggernaut now. But hes got no defensive armor build up powers at all? None??

Also, whats the verdict on playing your powered up characters the second time around in this game, can it be done? Didnt find much replay value AT ALL in the first one (though is someone knows some please feel free to tell me).

I don't know why, but Juggernaut just doesn't work for me. He's always getting the snot kicked out of him (maybe it's his no defensive powers thing, which totally blows my mind for juggernaut). Colossus always lasts and lasts and lasts with his various passive def buffs.

Since someone else brought this team to light....

There is a passive skill called "balanced form", which is easily one of my favorite passives in the game. It boosts Juggs defense, and his attack speed. It takes a while before you are able to put points into it, but if you're looking for a power that will boost his defense, that one is easily better than the ones Colossus and Rogue get.

A Side-note: Colossus is practically invincible with 5 or 6 points in steel skin. Needing only to activate it every time he goes into another room, I have taken his fellow team members out from time to time, for boss battles.

I haven't been following the X-men for awhile, but can someone tell me what the weird spiky type skins are that colossus and nightcrawler are wearing?

Somebody correct me if I am wrong because I haven't read the story, but I believe those are looks from the "Age of Apocolypse".

Thanks for the response but its not those ones that I mean, I read AoA so I'm familiar with those skins (always loved AoA sunfire) but there are two that (as far as I know only colossus and Nightcrawler have, they are after the AoA skins. Its those ones that I have no idea where they originate

I know what you mean. Wolvie and Cyke have them too, though the spikes are hard to spot.

I got a friend to play this with me the other day, and he and I went through the whole campaign together. He got a kick out of using Colossus, and I helped him progress through his skills so that he was able to do the Siberian Express in almost every encounter. He loved using the skin with the helmet and going "Wanna ride the train, #####??" :p

Yeah, when powered and leveled up, Prof X gets real mean damage wise.

Equip his belts, etc up right and he's almost unbeatable.

It's not untill very late in the game that you can start using his buff to defense (found it very late in the game, and by that time it wasn't that snazy as he wasn't that powered up).

I went through the second time with my powered up characters, and here Juggernaut finally started to shine, but still pales in comparison to Colossus. I enjoyed it as some characters don't open up untill late game, and I finally had the points to trick out others (ie Scarlet Witch was actually fun with her move that turns things into crates cranked up).

Colossus plus his special amor, plus a few of his powers makes him all but invincible in game (it doesn't hurt that one of his X powers makes him completely immune to damage for a time). It was hard NOT to use him on my teams.

Iron Man is one of the most powerful characters in the game. His motion amplify makes him pretty broken. Dump your points into this and watch him clobber things FAST.
