All, of 2 votes last match. I think we can do better then that.

I was playing Heroclix the other day, and building my team, I had 103 points left. I looked at my selection and realized that U HT Batman and R IC Hulk both cost the same. This got me thinking. Just because they are Heroclix equals doesn’t translate back translate back to comics. I think most of us would agree that Hulk could beat Batman in a fight.

That is the idea for this tournament. Every entry will be close to the same amount of points Heroclix wise, but this will be their comic forms fighting!

Rules:
This will be a standard single elimination tournament with 32 combatants. There will be 2 to a fight. They get no knowledge of each other (unless they have fought in the past). The only thing they get is the Heroclix figure of there enemies, and a PAC so they know what the opponent looks like and a bit about what they can do (this can be misleading however, like if they face Electro and think he will try to poison them). They will have 5 minutes to prepare. This is a fight to the death or KO, whichever happens first, and they must fight (no waiting for the opponent to die of starvation). They have with them what they normally carry and what there fig has if it is different. (Like how Bullseye doesn’t carry a gun, but he has one on the fig). If the fig that is being used is the rookie, you do NOT have to treat the fighter like that. (unless the characters powers change dramatically ie: Rouge)

When you vote, please try to justify your answer. You don’t have to write an essay, just a short explanation will do.

Terrain
There are 10 terrains that are all 5 miles in diameter. They will be chosen randomly.
With out further delay…

Wild Child
MM, 40pts.
vs.
Scarecrow
UN, 26pts.

Terrain:
Prairies by Magnito
Very flat land that is covered with corn fields. The corn is high enough that a person could easily hide in it. Going right through the centre of the terrain is a highway. Traffic is light but the occasional car will pass. The only building is a gas station/restaurant/truck stop near the very centre. Inside, there is the owner and a couple of truckers that stopped for a good meal.

21-25pts. winner: Live Wire
26-30pts. winner: Zatanna
31-35pts. winner: Killer Frost

Round 1

Starman vs. Lizard: Starman
The Darkness vs. Plastic Man: Plastic Man
Clayface III vs. Abbey Chase: Clayface III

WILDCHILD
Teenager Kyle Gibney was kicked out of his home when his parents learned he was a mutant. Living on the streets, he was abducted by the Secret Empire who attempted to make him into the ultimate weapon. Their experiments deformed his face but gave him razor sharp talons, extraordinary agility and heightened senses. After their base was destroyed, Kyle was taken in by Canada's Department H and became a member of Gamma Flight taking the name Wildchild. He defected to join Omega Flight, a team of disgruntled heroes who were being manipulated by industrialist Jerome Jaxon. He was captured by Alpha Flight but escaped, going on a berserker spree which was stopped by Vindicator and Wolverine. He was pardoned and joined Alpha Flight, but his killer personality re-emerged. Rather than face imprisonment or worse, he was teleported away by teammate Nemesis who got him help. He returned to Alpha Flight as Wildheart, cured of his rage and his looks restored.

SCARECROW
Teased his whole life for his skinny build and shabby clothes, Professor Jonathan Crane was cruelly called the "Scarecrow." A brilliant expert in psychology and biochemistry specializing in fear and the human mind, Crane finally sought revenge when he was fired from Gotham University. Dressing in the rags and tatters of a Scarecrow, Crane literally frightened his tormentors to death with fear gas which made each man's personal demons all too real. The Batman stopped his reign of terror and Crane was sent to Arkham Asylum. The Scarecrow returned again and again to fight the Dark Knight, forcing the hero to face and overcome many of his deepest fears. Despite his slight build, the Scarecrow is a skilled combatant, but his best weapon is the fear of others. The Scarecrow claims to have no fears himself, save one - The Batman.

Wildchild will track down Scarecrow, find him, then give a claw up his fear-gassin wazoo.

Weird.

My vote: Wildchild

You gotta admit though, pretty cool terrain for Scarecrow to get.

Well, I think that Scarecrow could easily take this. This is a nice terrain. If there is another Scarecrow in the field...can you say decoy? Don't underestimate the power that one's own fears can have on them. Still, the wild one is tougher then he looks, and could probably take out SC easily if he got close. Hmmmmm, I'll have to hear more oppinions, (assuming there are some)

You know, Ill toss a vote in for Scarecrow here. If hes good enough to routinely dose Batman with his fear toxins (which does happen), Im going to say he can do the same to WC here. And Im saying WC has no where near the willpower or strength of mind to resist such attacks as Batman does (and even for him its not that easy)

It didnt say anywhere in WCs bio that he had superhuman durability, so SC should be able to KO or Kill him while hes cuddled in a ball, reliving his worse fears. Also, it doesnt say anything about WC having a healing factor, which would help fight against this toxin, so its going to last a while.

All in all, its brains over brawn here. My Vote - Scarecrow

Just the kind of argument I was waiting for. (I wanted to vote for Scarecrow, just needed a reason. ;)) My vote...

Yep I'm with Scarecrow for the same reasons.

Yeah, if Scarecrow can routinely put the whammy on DC's resident close combat genius, I'd say that he can KO this farm team Wolverine knock-off. Scarecrow for the win.

I think that Scarecrow would take it. Wildchild has the mentality of an animal. Irrational easily coyed. i can see scarecrow sidling up to his huddled form and carving him up.

I know this is a bit of a land-slide already but I just can't resist voting for one of the Arkham crew. Not only is this a wickedly cool spot for Scarecrow to battle (I can just picture this one at night) but as noted Wildchild has an animalistic personality - that not only means the standard "battle fury" everyone always plays up but it also means it's a trait that the fear gas (as well as transmitters, toxins, etc. - Crane uses multiple delivery methods) will cry havoc manipulating. The final splatter-movie panel of a looming Scarecrow with scythe is just icing on the cake. :)

Vote: Dr. Jonathan Crane, Esq.

Put another vote for Scarecrow....his fear toxins on someone who is close combat...brutal. Wildchild doesn't stand a chance....
