anyone born after may 19 2005 will never have to watch the star wars saga "out of order", like all of us "old timers".
just a thought.
Yeah, but just think... after someone watches Episode I, will they really want to watch the rest?
Could you see some dad trying to convince his kid that he grew up on this and it was one of the greatest pop culture events in the last 30 years, and his kid sees Epp I (and to some extent, Epp II), and doesn't even want to sit through the rest to get to ESB?
I'd still show them to future generations "out of order."

And by the same token, anyone who died before 1990 is forever spared the cinematic indignity that is Godfather 3. They can rest in peace, forever safe in their ignorance of Sofia Coppola and her legendary farewell soliloquy (said in the most vacant possible Valley Girl throwback voice) - "Dad?"
just think though: they dont get the shock that we did when we found out vader was lukes father and such.
that was much more dramatic.

I agree. Star Wars should be shown in the order the movies were made, not in the order that they take place chronologically. While it does leave one knowing what's going to ultimately happen it secures interest in the series by presenting the overall better trilogy first and leaves all the big twists (i.e. Vader is Luke's father, Luke and Leia are twins, etc.) intact.
I'd imagine that the saga has a much different flow for those watching it for the first time "in order" though: "What's that big round thing with the big dish?" "Palpatine is the Sith Lord?!" "Wow, it took 4 movies for Anakin to stop whining." "Why is Obi-Wan lying?" "Ew, they're kissing..." And so on.

Once the Episode Three comes out on DVD, I'm gonna buy all six episodes (yes, even epsiode 1), and spend one day to dedicate to watch all six movies in order...
