View Full Version : DTM's Final TOC: Marvel/DC SHW: KALIBAK vs. ANNIHILUS

ROUND 1, MATCH 6

And what a battle it is. Possibly one of the best, if not the best, match up of Round 1. Morg and Alan Scott are battling with all they have, currently to a stalemate. So if you have yet to vote there, Do So Now.

Hope you all enjoy, tell your friends about this and lets see if we cant make this one of the Best TOCs Ever. Thanks all.

Anyone wishing to vote MUST give a reason why you believe the character youre voting for should win. Any votes that are simply "Character X" or "Person Y" will NOT be counted and basically ignored overall. Thanks.

Also, as with the first set of Comics TOCs, there is NO DOWNLOAD of the opponents here. Characters will know about their opponents only if they have crossed paths in the comics before.

The terrain is 25 miles in diameter, as always, protected by a force field of the strongest power to prevent characters from escaping or flying their foes to the sun.

Now without further adieu, allow me to present your next battle in an Age Old type of Tournament Of Champions:

KALIBAK

VS.

ANNIHILUS

As always, same rules apply, no time to prepare, POOFed from where ever they were, with only what they routinely carry on them AND/OR routinely used, to fight in a Large 25 mile wide area til one stands and one falls. YOU decide Who.

Randomly Chosen Area:

Island Chain: Several small islands rest in these shallow, warm waters. A large, main Island sits in the center. Most of them are sparsely wooded, with the main Island having a large dormant volcano jutting out of one end. The beaches are prime real estate, or were before the fight began. A few large rocks rise up from the ocean, reminiscent of the South China Sea.

Thanks all, and enjoy.

And REMEMBER, if youre not sure who someone is here, ASK. Theres PLENTY of people here who can tell you most anything youd like to know. Thanks again.

ALSO, please do your best to respect everyones votes, reasonings and opinions here. If you believe your character should win, but doesnt in the end, dont hold grudges against the character that beat yours, or call the votes that allowed this to happen "fanboy" arguments or plain and simply wrong. We all have our own way of thinking and voting here, with each one of our thoughts and ideas as valid as your own. Lets do what we can, even in the heat of an argument, to respect that. Thanks.

Oooh...Kalibak is strong and a great H2H combatant...not as bright as one would assume. His strength is less Supermans, but close. As does his endurance to take a beating. But Ann...has range and flies. Can Ann keep Kalibak at bay?

Aklibak is tough and stong, but anihillus has range on him. the bug from the negative zone has flight, brains, and the cosmic control rod.

Still Kalibak could get his mitts on him and if that happens, given that the THing has bludgeoned the negative zone villian into the ground ...i'm giving it to Kalibak.

Annihilus is way to smart to come close enough for Kalibak to take him down. Because or brains and range, my vote...
ANNIHILUS

Kalibak has a ranged attack too - his Beta Rod can be horrifically painful and nasty to opponents. and it's a standard piece of equipment for him. Just trying to stay out of Kalibak's "range" here isn't as easy as it sounds.

Even if Kali has range, I'd still give it to Annie, based on him just being smarter and having flight.

Vote: Annihilius.

I really like both characters but I believe Kalibak would win nothing against Annhilus he is smart and can fly and is strong too,but I cannot see him hurting or beating Kalibak.

Kalibak for the win. he is a powerhouse in a league above annihilus and like rokk says he does have a decent ranged attack

Good call RK, I was just going to point this out myself.

Im actually quite torn about this match. Kalibak is a real warrior and skilled fighter, with physical attributes that would give even Superman pause. Though Annihilus does have him in the overall brains dept, as well as flight and manueverability and hes no slouch in the power dept either (The Cosmic Control Rod is as powerful as the Beta Club, and can also augment Annihilus' physical stats and powers as well)

Add the fact that Annihilus recently took down Major Force in a very recent battle here (Captain Atom's similiarly powered Arch Enemy) and this match is gonna be close I think. As for me, Im still undecided here.

I vote Annihilus if he's as bad as people make him out to be here.

Also, it's true that Kalibak regularly carries around the Beta Club - a ranged weapon. But like most New gods he can't fly.

Annihilus will win as long as he doesn't get close.

Well, with this terrain, Annie will have a easier time finding Kalibak from above, but at the same time, Kalibak will have no problem finding Annie. Annie is gonna have to get some good shoots to take down Kalibak (multiple shots) and I don't think Kalibak is just gonna take it, he is gonna shoot back. I am really torn on this match....

I think what wins this for Annihilus is the terrain. The shallow water will slow Kalibak down as he moves arround. With Annihilus' flight he can move about movre freely. The large free standing rocks mean he can duck in and out, playing hit and run.

In a war of attrition, the terrain favors Annihilus

Annihilus for the win.

Looks like Annihilus has come from behind and now has a 2 vote lead over Kalibak.

Honestly, I feel the terrain is almost more advantageous to Kalibak. He doesn't need to breathe (at least he's been shown capable of fighting in space without breathing gear) and with his strength the water isn't really going to slow him down noticeably (plus, again, his space-combat training means he's used to similar "all-direction" environs), giving Kalibak a good way to go from island to island while Annihilus is limited on being able to take "pot shots" at the hidden Apokoliptian. Meanwhile things like trees, "free-standing rocks", etc. give Kalibak plenty of things to pitch with his raw strength (or he can just use his Beta Rod and overload Annihilus' pain receptors) to bring Annihilus down. Kalibak is eventually going to get his mitts on Annihilus - if anything Kalibak's unreal resistance is going to make just "run and gun" a bad strategy for Annihilus (if the Thing can survive direct shots from Annilhilus, so can Kalibak) - and once that happens, the insectoid's armour is getting peeled.

Vote: Kalibak

these are the bio's i'm going by.
kalibak (http://www.rapsheet.co.uk/RapSheetMain/Bizzaro.asp?UniqueId=255)
annihilus (http://www.rapsheet.co.uk/RapSheetMain/Character.asp?UniqueId=21)

"annihilus has some protection against physical and energy attacks"
"kalibak is virtually invulnerable to physical and energy attacks"

i'll toss in a vote for kalibak.... i think the pain attack from kalibak's beta-rod will ground annie.... then the beating commences.

A TIE!!

We NEED a victor chosen here from this TIED match if we are to proceed to the next Match.

Ill be checking back later (if not then definately tomorrow morning my time) and if this, and every other Second Quarter match, has no TIE, we can proceed with Round 1.

Until then, ALL of the Second Quarter matches, Matches 5 thru 8, are still OPEN.

I'll vote for kalibak because he just sounds more powerful. Crappy reason but you needed a tie breaker and this is the best I could think of.

Yeah, Kalibak for the win. I mean, this guy has gone toe to toe with Superman, while Annihilus has been floored by the Thing. While the Thing is very powerful, he isn't Superman powerful. So yeah, Kalibak to advance.

Im going to have to go with Kalibak on raw power. I think he has enough endurance to trade ranged attacks with Annihilus till he can negate his flight advantage (by perhaps hitting his wings with a shot from the beta club). Then once the flight advantage is gone Kalibak can KO him with ease.
