Best Single Player game with a story?

God of War isn't on Xbox I think. Fable- good story short game. KOTOR I & II both have good stories and replayability. Gladius has a good stroy if you like turn based combat.

you should definitely get KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic). Easily one of the best games I've played and the story is better than anything in the prequel movies. plus you can easily find it for 20 bucks or less.

Fable is more of a rental. You could finish the game in under 25 hours.

Mercenaries:Playground of Destruction is a good buy. Sorta like GTA in a military setting.

I don't know how good the X-box version is, but overall I enjoyed "Republic Commandos" (Star Wars prequel era game). Solid graphics, surprisingly good and non-Star Wars'ish music and it even has a plot. Normally I'm not particularly good at the game-style (first-person shooter backed by squad) but this one made it very smooth and a fun experience.

If you want an actual story I'd say Fable (where you kind of make your own story), KOTOR, KOTOR 2, Jade Empire (from the makers of KOTOR) and one of my personal faves Morrowind. Morrowind just amazed me w/ the size of the game and the freedom it gave you. It's another game where you can kind of choose your own path. The main story is vague but there are tons of sidequests and sub-plots. The combat is real-time and can be a bit clunky but that's the only down side. The ability to pick up just about any object in the game as well as make your own custom-enchanted weapons kept me busy for hours. I made a ring that when worn gave me constant levitation... so I could fly around.

FABLE all the way. (although I havn't played it for the X-Box, I have it for PC, and as you can tell from my sig, GREAT GAME)

After that, hmm, maybe KotoR. (Same as fable, never played it on X-Box, but for PC)

Battlefront and Battlefront II are good for quick skirmishes, although BF II has as decent story. BF II also has a Hero level and levels where you get points based on shooting Ewoks and Gungans. You can't go wrong. And as mentioned, KOTOR and KOTOR II: Sith Lords are both worthy to play, KOTOR has a better story, whereas Sith Lords has better features.
