View Full Version : Need help with 1200pt Unrestricted

For a while, I thought this section of the site got scrapped so I posted this to the wrong area I think. Anyway I'm reposting my thread here. If any mods want to delete the old one, go for it.

I'm finally back from school and there's a tournament coming up that's too crazy to pass up. It's 1200pts mixed disregarding retirement and NAAT! Despite the immense size, I can't fit in everything I want and I don't have quite enough feats to go around (here's hoping I can bum an extra trick shot or armor piercing). The idea is keep some groups going. I have GL leading a group of soldiers. There's a small Titan team led by V Nightwing, and a JSA team. I latter two I intend to split into pairs for some guerilla attacks. Here's what I got to work with:

GL's group:
LE Hal Jordan w/Trick Shot 198
V Sgt. Rock w/Armor Piercing 50
E Easy Co. Soldier 14
E HDC Trooper 19
E Psylocke 39
LE Roy Harper Jr. 39
V Captain America(Ult) w/Damage Shield 113
Subtotal= 491 pts

Already my build is more costly than I thought it'd be. GL tanks are old hat, but I think I gave this one a little extra bite with capable PD and Cap ready to launch at a moments notice.

Titans Group:
V Nightwing w/Stunning Blow 82
V Starfire w/Trick Shot 108
V Cyborg 65
V Raven 65
Subtotal= 330 pts so far

Not bad. I used this Nightwing/Starfire combo to great effect in my last tournament, so I'm eager to use it again. Raven is also a necessary swiss-army knife. Cyborg, however, is tough to use without a TK launch. To add TK(Fatality or Cosmicboy) or HSS(Northstar or Kid Flash) means to take away from my JSA.

I'm looking at the JSA to be my muscle. However, unless I alter first two groups I only have 379 points to spare at this point. Here's my possible choices:

E Dr. Fate 113
E Mr. Terrific 72
V Power Girl 120
U Shazam! 166
V Hourman 100
E Star-spangled Kid 49
V Stargirl 63

So what should I do? I have to cut points somewhere. Do I cut Cyborg? Do I dumb down the GL tank? Should I just cut one of the teams altogether? And why have I never seen anyone try to use Captain America with damage shield? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Considering the scale of this competition, I'm expecting plenty of Ultimates, KC, GL, old cheese, and maybe even a hungry Galactus.

In addition to the stuff above, I'm considering E Fatality, E Cosmic Boy, E Northstar, V Kid Flash, U Spiral, V Cloak, V Dagger, and/or LE Boon. Feats that I have left are Pounce, Taunt, and Fortitudes. Only BCF's I have are Crosswinds, Radiation Leak, and the ever-moronic Earthquake.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read all this and maybe posting a small idea or two. I'll just make one last note and then I'll call it a night. Even though is NAAT is ignored for this tournament, FCCF, Rule of 3, and everything else is still in full effect.

You can save some points by downgrading Hal to V Green Lantern. The extra point of damage is nice, but I prefer the better attack value of the Vet, and he is cheaper. That would give you more options for the GL tank too. I'd recommend Haymaker on Hourman, because then you can have Stargirl taxi him up and him attack with his good AV, pushing himself onto his good second click without danger of getting knocked right past them. How many actions do you get?

I'm not sure how many actions. Anywhere from 6 to 12, I suppose.

As much as I would love to switch in V GL, I unfortunately don't have him. I also don't have Haymaker, though I think it would be easier to borrow than the extra Trick Shot I need.

How about the GL tank? I think I managed to get something with a lot of offensive power, but I'm afraid I sank too many points into it. At 497, that's nearly half my team.
