I started this thread to discuss the Metroid series from Nintendo. I'm a big Metroid fan, and have been ever since I got Metroid II - Return of Samus for my Gameboy as a Christmas present way back in 1991. I've gotten and played through every Metroid game released since then (still working on Metroid Prime 2 though).
Here's a quick rundown of how the Metroid games take place in relation to one another. Anything marked with a "**" hasn't been released yet:
Metroid - Zero Mission (Gameboy Advance)
Metroid Prime (Gamecube)
Metroid Prime - Hunters (Nintendo DS) ** to be released August, 2005
Metroid Prime 2 - Echoes (Gamecube)
Metroid Prime 3 (Nintendo Revolution) ** to be released late 2006
Metroid II - Return of Samus (Gameboy)
Metroid III - Super Metroid (Super Nintendo)
Metroid IV - Metroid Fusion (Gameboy Advance)
Metroid V - Metroid Dread (Nintendo DS) ** to be released 2006
Of all the games in the series, Super Metroid is probably my favorite. Metroid Prime was really good as well, but there's just something about the 16-bit Samus I prefer.
I'm currently playing Metroid Prime 2 - Echoes. I first bought the game when it came out, but gave up on it for several months due to its incredible level of difficulty (MP2 is definitly the hardest Metroid game yet, much more so than the first MP). I just started playing it again earlier this week, and am now trying to get past the Spider Ball Guardian (who in itself isn't that hard, its just the lack of a Save point at any point close to this battle which ticks me off, meaning you have to play through a good 15 minutes worth of level before getting to him...it can get incredibly redundant).
