For those who do not have children (and thus may not watch Jetix for many, many hours at a time), big announcement:

The Tick returns to JETIX @ 11:00 PM EST starting tonite. Thrill to the adventures of the Tick and his sidekick Arthur as they team up with American Maid and Der Fleidermaus to take on Chairface Chippendale, Mucas Tick, Dinosaur Neil and other villians of The City.

JETIX (in the USA) runs either on Toon Disney (weeknights) or on ABC Family (weekends).

Enough with the promo...I can't wait for this. I'll be skipping the 11 o'clock news from now on. This cartoon was one of the funniest things on TV, ever. I'll be posting with reviews and accepting comments here in the thread.

The Tick vs. The Idea Men

Well, I realized I will be a poor reviewer of the episodes; mostly because after tonite I am reminded about how good they actually were (compared with the drivel on TV today). But I’ll trudge on to do my best.

We are introduced to the Tick and Arthur via an “Inside the Actors Studio” type setting, briefly giving us exposition on whom our heroes are. The action continues as we see how heroes are assigned which cities to protect. After proving his might by defeating the most dangerous weapon of 1974, the Tick is assigned “The City. My, The City.”

See, now this is what I like best about this show. The patrols, and the consequences there of. The rooftops are being destroyed by bounding about on patrol. “Gravity is a harsh mistress.” A quick battle with the Idea Men provides another quote, “Hey. Cool. They got a blimp!”

Interspersed we are given Arthur’s background story. The chubby sidekick in a bunny suit (yes, I know it’s moth; wings are in his briefcase). Some great interaction in Arthur’s apartment, followed by yet another emergency with the Idea Men, and attack on the City Dam. As they run out of rooftops, we are shown other various heroes. Long story made (almost) short they save the dam and the day.

As an intro episode this was better than most. We get the premise, and find out a lot about our two central characters. We get some memorable lines, and the first theme song composed of scat.

Next up: The Tick vs. Chairface Chippendale

"He has a chair for a head." And thus began my wifes introduction to The Tick over 10 years ago...

The Tick vs. Chairface Chippendale. Another fun episode, not nearly the amount of quoteable lines as the first, but good as a stand alone. The best thing about the ep, we got to see more of American Maid. Another consistency (if I remember correctly) is that the moon (on future episodes) will continue to have CHA engraved across the face.

Dinosaur Neil tonite. As a side note, dug thru some boxes and found my copy of the first two episodes on VHS, autographed by Ben Edlund. It's the small things that make me happy.

Can someone give me a heads up when the Ottoman Empire is coming on? I love that episode!

Sorry to all, I missed the Dinosaur Neil ep last nite. I blame it on boring DBZ (which I fell asleep during). Yeah, I suck...

Tonite vs. Mister Mental

Bud, checked thru 6/23 and Ottoman is not listed (nothing further yet). I'll keep people posted.

OK, so I know I have not said anything on the Tick in a while (mostly due to no comments from anyone else) but come on...

The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs At Midnight
Barry Tick
Comet Club w/ Doorman
Sidekicks Lounge
Ah Borneo, where if you were hungry all you had to do was reach up and pluck you a snack.

This is a shining example on what makes a great cartoon.

PLUS, tonite is my favorite...the Tick vs the Uncommon Cold. If I can impress upon anyone to what just one episode, it would be this one.

BudPalmer, early searching indicates the Ottoman ep is on Sunday 7/3. Evil Sits down for a Moment.
