Hey guys. Im a Spidey/Authority fan, and haven't really picked up any other comics except these. Im currently into The New Avengers, and am Picking up House of M, along with Toxin (hoping the story gets better), and thats about it. Im really thinking about picking up some DC, because Ive been so biased against it. Im just needing some info on what comics you guys would suggest to me? Please give me the current or past titles, and a little info on why you think I should get this comic. I mean I kinda wanna have an opinion on it before I check it out!

Since you're a big Spidey fan, I'd say pick up Kyle Rayner's run in the GL title (GL v3 #51-whatever the last issue was). Also, anything Geoff Johns' has written, with the exception of his Titans' run.

Spider-Man: Breakout is pretty decent... Spidey has also shown up in the pages of New Thunderbolts, which is a great book.

I've got breakout, but havent picked up the New Thunderbolts. Ive got a friend that has them though, so maybe I should read them.

Are they all really worth buying? I mean, Im really more about good storylines rather than graphics. I NEED GOOD PLOT LINES!

I don't know where you could have heard those books are "more about graphics than good storylines."

I havent, but Ive got a few friends that like to read comics because of the graphics. Well, I guess I shouldnt say read. More or less collect. Isnt that what TV is for? An orgasm for the eyes?

YES!
I used to wait until the weekend to buy my comics... then I missed BoP 72. Now I go as early as I can on Wednesdays (After noon, when they put the new books out, of course!), and I can absolutely promise you thatit wasn't because I just wanted to see the art - I DESPERATLY wanted to know what happened with Huntress and Vixen (and Braniac!). The current story line ROCKS; What's going on with Huntress has you guessing at every page, you never know when Wildcat's going to up and slug someone in the middle of discusions, Black Cannary and Wildcat almost get arrested (for drugs... in Singapore), Oracle's infected... with braniac (???... maybe. I'm still not sure that's what it is), Zinda's an absolue JOY of a character (I can't WAIT to see more of her coming to grips with the modern world once this story arc's over... PLEASE, Gail, PLEASE! I know you're sometimes on these boards... PLEASE!)... oy, I am SUCH a fangirl.
JSA is also on my must-have list. There's a number of older issues that deal with some really interesting topics - such as the weird relationships between Hector, Carter, and Kendra - how do you deal with your biological son being physically older than you? How do you deal with not really liking your pre-destined soul-mate (NOT an ideal situation for a modern girl!). How do you deal with your soulmate rejecting you? And the other characters of course - there was an arc where they went to the future, and Courtney found out she had a child with Atom Smasher... while in the present, she was developing a relationship with Billy Batson. How does she deal with that? Is she locked into that future now? And how does she deal with the fact that she's so angry at what he's doing now that she doesn't even like him, much less see the possibility of love... not to mention what he's doing in the Black Reign arc. AND, you get to REALLY see what an anti-hero is... in Black Adam. He has good intentions... really, um... really. He thinks he does, at least...
But... maybe I'm just blinded by the pretty pictures :)

Im not the best one to answer this as Ive only read a couple of ishes.
Oracle runs a "detective agency" from her HQ, while black canary and huntress go out and kick butt.
again ive only read a couple but I do enjoy this book.
I would suggest runaways as an excellent read.

Sounds hot. I mean....good. Very good. I'll pick up a few or so. Should I read the current title, or pick up a few past titles first? I didnt know if there was a small plot line that Im jumpin in on, or needed some history on anyone.

Runaways is about a group of teens with powers ( one is an alien, one is a mutant, one is a witch, one with a telepathic link to a dinosaur, and one with gadgets). In the current arc one of their own members comes back from the future(now an avenger) to warn them of a villain that will destory all the marvel heroes in the future. We just learned that the future villain is the son of the one and only Dr. Doom. Great story and art make this one of my favorite current books.

Hmm. I might have to jump in on that one. Thats kinda sparked my interest. Which avenger is it? Just out of curiousity. Is it the Young Avengers, or The New Avengers?

Its one of the runaways who in the future becomes an avenger, who then comes back in time to save the future.

The series is on about issue 5 or 6 of its second "season" (think ultimates2). You wont need to read the first "season" to follow this one, but they are in digest format and feature a really great cloak and dagger apperance so i recommend picking them up if you get the chance.

Ok, so does the second season start over with a new number, or does it start with #13 and go on?

No, it starts at a new number 1 instead of carrying over. The first "season" was I think 18 issues as a stand alone, but was picked up for more after it started to get a following.

I'd reccomend picking up from issue 75 and on. The only history you need is what you prolly know already - Oracle (Barbera Gordon) was the orrigional Batgirl, until Joker paralized her from the waist down (See: The Killing Joke, a great read). After that, she became the information broker for the DCU - she's a top-notch hacker and all-around brain, and does information work for JLA on top of the Batfamily. At the end of the War Games story arc (a cross-Batman family arc) she ended up blowing up her home base (the Gotham clocktower) (she firmly beleives that bats could have prevented this); pissed at Bats, she's left Gotham (she says for good). Of course, her old flame Nightwing/ #### Grayson has recently re-taken up residence there. Black Canary is one of the top ten martial artists in the DCU; throughout her past, she's been a member of many incarnations of both the JLA and JSA. As the daughter of the orrigional Black Canary, Dinah was raised by the orrigional JSA, and thinks of those people (Alan Scott, etc) as her "Uncles" or even "extra dads" (ESSPECCIALY Wildcat, who was the first person to teach her how to fight). Another one of her teachers was a man who also taught Lady Shiva how to fight, and he considered them his two prize pupils (there's an interesting story arc, collected in the TPB Sensai and Student about this hero and villan coming together peacfully while he is on his deathbed, and what them discussing what they've done with their training). Huntress is the only living Bertinelli of the Bertinelli crime family, since a rival gang (all in gotham) slaughtered her family while she hid under the table. She doesn't kill out of respect for the rest of the bat family, but there's always a tenacious grasp on her not killing - she doesn't really have a problem with it. She, too, has a history with Nightwing, though it was more of a one-night-stand. Babs has never really forgiven her (or him) for it, and it's part of the reason Babs has a rocky relationsip with them both. Zinda (blair?) AKA Lady Blackhawk is an accidently time-taveling fighter piolt from WWII. Depressed, sexy, and overqualified for any job she could get, she mostly lucked into working for Babs a the piolt of her new mobile base (see issue 75 :))
Other things you might want to know - Babs had a bit of a romantic past with Ted Kord/ Blue Beatle, but it didn't work well, and they mostly just swapped tech info.
Drop me a PM if you have any more questions.

I just wanted to mention Planetary as you said you read and enjoyed Authority. I think it's one of the most inventive series I have read in a long time.
Other than that I'll echo:
JSA - just started reading , loving the storylines
Runaways - great reading
Astonishing X-men, best X-title of them all!
Ultimates 2 - it's good
New Avengers - I know a lot of people dislike it, but I think it's a great read.
Probably some others that I cant remember rigth now, I'd say that you can't go wrong with most of the titles people have mentioned in this thread.
