Welcome to the first ever Trading Forum General Discussion.
This forum is open for any discussion you like about trading on HCRealms:
Ask about deals (Is 'x' worth 'y'?)
Discuss the finer points of the postal system,
recomend shipping methods
and ask about shipping internationally.
This forum is many things, but it is NOT a good or bad trader forum.
Do not post good or bad trader threads here.
Other than that, have a grand ol' time.

Most important thing I have learned is ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, did I say ALWAYS, use Delivery Conformation.
And Use Common Sense and
NEVER send a figure in and envelope.
Save your booster boxes. If you are doing a small trade (unique for a unique, or 4-5 figures in a trade) the boosters come with enough packaging and shipping rarely goes over 1.50

Echo that, though I have to add that you can usually fit up to 10 figures in a booster, if you don't place them in plastic holders. Wrap them in some paper instead, it works almost as good and takes significantly less space.
And two tips of my own:
Always save all correspondence until the trade is completed.
Always keep a record of your trades somewhere else - personally, I keep a record of all my trades with my trade list, which includes what figures are traded for what figures (it's hard enough keeping track of what figs I have anyway...), and obviously the adress of the other party.

Some personal experience on trading across the border, form canada to the US 4-5 days, the us to canada 2 weeks, this useing canada post and US post.
I have and OLD (from Armor Wars) trade thread that (I am guessing) still exists. I want to make a new one for Sinister but I understand you can only have one trade thread. What do I do? Thanks
you can have more than 1 if the other(s) is very out of date like I'd say yours is. They're commenting more about people having multiple current ones running at the same time.

How long should you wait to report someone for non-payment? This was an auction, so I would assume that their bid constitutes and contract to buy.
