Not sure if this has been touched upon in any way, shape, or form prior...

I'm the sort that will gladly trade and occasionally buy from those worldly neighbors (Canada to name one...), but I wonder if we as a group could get some clarification. When addressing a package, does the sender need to write down exactly what is stated or will it arrive if a bit is off? For example:

I'm sent this: Joe Canuck
54321 Weird Way
45 Street, NW
Saskatoon, Saskachawon (sorry about spelling...)
01E RR7, Canada

I address the package accordingly, but forget the Saskachawon part. Or forget the 01E RR7 part. What if the info is written in a different way? (Flip Saskachuwon and Saskatoon) Will it make it?

* Hopefully what I'm asking will make sense...

I think the best way is to copy the address exactly as written. I'm from The Netherlands myself and when entering my address in a U.S. website, for example, sometimes I can't enter it in the way that's normal for us Dutch.

Whether a package arrives with a less-than-complete address depends on the postal office and postmen who handle the package, I guess. When they can work out themselves the right address from the written text, then I guess there's no problem. When they can't, or won't, you'll probably get your package sent back. That's why I always put my own address as 'sender' on the package as well.

The less address you put the harder it is for the post office to sort it out.

If you forget the post code bit it is very hard!

I do not know Canada but would have thought Flipping Saskachuwon and Saskatoon would still get there.

Also the post office is now requiring that you use all CAPITOL LETTERS when sending to Canada

As a Canadian, I am confident it would still get here. "flipping' Saskatoon and Saskatchewan is the equivalent of addressing something to the US with a line that read:
Massachusetts, Boston
Michigan, Battle Creek
or
New York, New York ( :) )

It really shouldn't be a problem

Forget Saskatchewan? Might take a little longer (on your side, everyone here knows Saskatoon is in Sask)
The 01E RR7 (although out of order is should be letter number letter number letter number) is the postal code. DO NOT forget this
Flip city and province? No problem
But the more info the better

Saskatchewan: The only province where you can watch the family dog run away. For 3 days
Saskatchewan: The only province where it si so flat you can see the back of your head!
