What are some amazing games that no one but you played or games that just never seemed to catch on?
Mine have to be Astro Boy for the GBA and Pinball of the dead for the GBA. Also I really like alien hominid both as a flash game and as a console game.

Super Dodge Ball on the NES and the melee sub-game of Star Control 2 on the PC. They were two classic head-to-head games that offered a surprising level of strategy for the technology of the time. Star Control was especially good (I read somewhere that a team had recently done a total conversion of the game using the Half-Life engine or something). I've also got to add a plug for Total Annihilation: Kingdoms. I have no idea why this game wasn't huge. It built on the brilliant RTS model that was the original TA, but added multiple races in a high magic setting. I suppose the collapse of its publisher might have had something to do with its failure...

Magic Pengel: The Quest for Color for Playstation 2. At it's core it's a simple monster battler RPG with a very obvious rock-paper-scissors attack system, but the main draw (pun semi-intended) is that you can draw the monsters you use. As you progress and win more matches, you win more ink to draw with and are capable of creating more parts for your creatures (you start with just a body, but then gain arm, leg, head, wing, tail, etc). It takes some time to learn how to work with the 3D rendering engine (you draw shapes in 2D with different sorts of tools and the engine makes an educated guess at what you wanted), but once you do you can create just about anything you can imagine. Admittedly the story is very childish, but chances are if you buy this it's not for the story.

I remember hearing about that Magic Pengel game and thinking that it sounded cool. I'll have to check it out. I also love Super Dodge Ball. That game is freaking awesome. The different special moves and teams. I also suggest Super Dodgeball Advance for GBA, and equally awesome game with better graphics.
Now on to the games that I've played that nobody else did, Ninja 5-0 (aka Ninja Cop) for GBA. This game was a great side-scrolling action game. The best feature was this chain that your Ninja cop could use to ascend platforms (sorta like Bionic Commando).
Another great portable game was Warlocked for Game Boy Color. This was a surprisingly well-done real-time strategy game. It played like a simplified Warcraft and featured collectable/tradeable wizards with different powers. A GBA sequel was planned, but nothing has been heard about it in like 4 years.

Maybe everyone else has beaten it, or just plain overlooked it, but I like Psi-Commando because the character reminds me of Cable and the use of his powers is cool. A game I've been wanting to check out if Front Mission 4 because it plays like a computer version of heroclix.

M.U.D.S.
That's short for Mean Ugly Dirty Sport in case you didn't know.
A PC game, must be something like 12 years old. It's kinda like football with a lot of casualties.

Oh, and a game I had on my Amiga 500. Don't remember the name.
You had a little car and drove along a road, while other cars attacked you.
You could drive your car into a truck sometimes.
At a higher level you got a boat instead..
I don't remember much of it, but the game was great.

Front Mission 4 is pretty difficult. It has some major flaws with the enemy AI. On the other hand blowing up the enemies in it always gave me a satisfied feeling. You're better off renting it first in my opinion.
One game that I LOVE but no-one else seems to play is "Katamari Damacy" for the PS2. Original, crazy and fun, the game got great reviews but i've never met anyone else who played it.

That's it!
Thanks for telling me.
Now where do I get a NES...
Disney's Adventures in the Magic Kingdom... something about it was just fun... even if it was stupid.
Adventure Island II was great...
Still... one game that I think few remember that was fun... Dynamite Heady... As much as marionettes creep me out, being able to destroy them with your dismembered head was great!

I don't think any LucasArts (or even LucasFilm) adventure qualifies as a game no one else played.
They all were aweseome. Some more than others, but still.
*sigh*
Games like that aren't made any more...

A few of the "continuing saga" games were put out for the PS2, including the always fun "Escape from Monkey Island" (yes, I like the Monkey Island games). :)
One fairly recent game that I was surprised didn't end up with a better following among "comic goers" was "Psi-Ops". Good story, graphics and control but the part I imagined would appeal to the comic-readers was the vast versatility of psionic powers you had at your disposal. Basically it was like having the character of "Legion" (from the X-Titles) running around packing firearms. ;) The environment was your playtoy - upon running across a group of soldiers you could chose to: incinerate them with pyrokinesis, mind-control one to attack the others, create illusions to cause them to fight, telekinesis various things (gun triggers, soldiers, near-by fuel cannisters, etc.), psionically assault their brains, or just run and gun them (and that's simplifying the options). Fun stuff if you like options. :)
I don't know if they count as "underplayed" as they did get sequels but I always figured the "Oddworld" games were somewhat ignored. My ex- and I loved playing them but it seems the games never sold or rented very well.

I can't remember where, but I think there was a "Collection of Classics" or some such where they put together a bunch of old video games for the PS2 and one had Spyhunter on it. It may of been for the PC. But I did see it in the collection somewhere.

I rented Psi-ops and had a great time with it for as long as I could stand the horrid story and dialogue. I'll have to disagree with you on the good story part, but otherwise it was a lot of fun. And the way the psi powers were done (especially telekinesis) was a lot of fun. I loved going into a room and just pulling guys off of the high railings and letting them fall to their deaths.
Another good obscure game that I played was Ikaruga for the Dreamcast. It's a really excellent top-down shooter and it reminds me of old-school top down shooters. It has impressive graphics and innovative gameplay and design, plus it's hard as hell. They released it for Gamecube too if anybody's interested.
No contest.
Herzog Zwei for Sega Genesis.
This was in reality the first Real Time Strategy game. You had a jet (a transformer, actually), and could shoot things on the battlefield, but you could also buy tanks, infantry, etc, place them on the battlefield, and give them orders. The object was to take bases (that you could refuel/heal at) and work your way to the enemy main base. You HAD to take the bases with infantry, bought units, so you had to do both the tactics and the action. All around great.
harvest moon on snes and harvest moon 64 anything more advanced than 64 just isnt the same, boogerman, and the ratchet and clank series

I agree.
To me, this game was landmark. It was the first war strategy game I had seen (I don't know the video game name for it!) I eventually went on to get into Command and Conquer, and Red Alert Series. But considered it being on the Sega system, this game was incredible. Also you will have to pay more than your average Sega game to find a copy of it now days.
