They meet, get tricked into fighting each other, Supes beats Thor, (Marvel zombies get pissed,) they team-up against the common evil, Perez draws every character imaginable, good beats evil.
Not to completely slam on it, but it was not nearly as good as one would hope. Pick it up in trade (if available), but do not expect an Eisner winner.

Of course, when people have been waiting for something for 20 years it doesn't have a chance to be as good as people hoped ;)

Supes beats Thor.
Hmmm....I recall Thor beating Supes... ;)
Nope, Superman did beat Thor which is rather questionable I suppose. At the very least it was close. And Captain America would've beaten Batman, but he was smart enough to stop fighting.

Yep Superman beat THOR like a red headed step child. Batman admited Captain America would beat him in a long fight. They both easily decided to figure what was really going on.

No, Batman said that it was concievable that Cap COULD beat him. That means "possible"....not anything more.

Sheesh, not this argument again...
I liked the series, it was as good as one can hope for considering that it's a cross company cross-over (we all know how those things turn out)...

I'm probably the only person who enjoyed it with almost no reservations.
Being a fan of both the JLA and the Avengers certainly helped.

I think we can all agree what Batman smacked up the Punisher though, right?

I'm not a big fan of the JLA but I still loved it. It really took me back to the comics of my childhood. My brother and a friend who also read it also both enjoyed it a lot.
It seems to me that if there were so many standstills and questions on who beat who, that such a series would have no chance of being anything but garbage. Preserving everyone's fandom does nothing for your story, especially for one like this. I picked this up out of the stand for 2 minutes at a local store, and put it away very quickly.
Thor's hammer is powered by magic which is Superman's weakness, so not to take sides I think that Thor should have defeated Superman

Here! Here! That fight should of been more climatic even is Superman wins (which he did) - "...dial turns to eleven!" - and that's the statement that KOs Thor?!?!?!!?
C'mon man! Supes wins? Sure why not! He's the man that launced comics to new heights but such a lame fight? It should of taken one entire comic matter of fact, it should of been an eight or ten issue limmeted series with plenty of descriptive fighting, Although I got to admit that that one page about Bats taking out the Punisher and not even showing it was pretty imposing!
And felas Batman is never gonna admit outright that someone - anyone can beat him but that's his way of way of saying " Man you are the best fighter, ever".
It's just not in Bats nature to ever just give up and say " oh sure you're better than me"
Back to the Thor/ Supes fight, Thor laid him once with the Hammer and that was it - Supes never let him touch him again with it - which I myself find it impossible! Thor not being able to hit another bruiser with his hammer? This was the sort of stuff that made the battle lame - Superman laid into Thor with a full blast of his heat vision and Thor took it like a man( err Asgardian) - But they would not let Superman get hit with Mjolnir....I guess it made sense in that if he would of gotten hit perhaps Supes would of been KOed? Doubt it but it would of made for a more exiting, wait for twenty year, battle; Wouldn't it? Which would you have rather seen a two page, flat battle or an epic one issue toe to toe battle where SUperman comes out on top (or Thor) and it looks like after you read the story like it was the greatest battle ever? I myself take the second choice...
