Advance Wars DS is coming out in just a couple weeks and I noticed that there wasn't an AW thread on here yet. So... here it is. Discuss away.

Okay, guess I'll get this started off.

Who's your favorite CO? Mine's always been Eagle. Green Earth's general attitude and unit designs really pop with me, and I've always been a closet plane nut. Plus, his CO/Super CO power (depending on whether you're more familiar with AW1 or 2) just plain rocks.

I have to say Sami because of her powers. Its so awesome when you capture their HQ in one turn.

Man, now I wish I had a DS. At least I still have plenty to play in Advanced Wars 2 (got it a couple months ago).

I liked Grit in the first one (never got to play as him though). Eagle's nice, but his power got weakened in Advanced Wars 2 by making it harder to get to. I like Sensei (all those Mechs!), Colin (cheaper armies and his super can do ridiculous damage), Kanbei, and Eagle as far as playing go. I like Grit as a character, but his reliance on range just makes him really ineffective on a lot of maps. What new stuff will be on Advanced Wars DS?

Alright, AW:DS has been out for a few days now. Anyone got it besides me? What're your impressions? So far, I'm finding it to be a lot more difficult than AW2. After about mission 20 I've found myself having to try half of the missions several times before succeeding.

I just got in the teens, the one where you have to fight your Yellow Comet allies that have just arrived, and they whooped my ###, so that's my first loss now. I just picked up the game last night though, and WOW! I love it. Despite hating Andy so damn much in the first two games, I'm actually missing his presence in this game. But it looks like, according to the battle maps section, that he's not gone for good :)

I got my DS about 2 weeks ago, and I haven't been happier. Keep your PSP, I don't need ports of every frickin' PS2 title.......

Jugger, however, is funnier than a barrel full of monkeys armed with automatic weapons. "Jugger victorious. Downloading party hat." has to be my absolute favorite line from the game so far.

I still wonder why it's so much harder. Is it because you have more info than before? Or because you can pretty much do Eagle's power with that Tag power? I love the Tag power, BTW. I continually use it when I'm capturing their HQ, it's great :)

I got it when it came out. I find the tag power being really powerful but sometimes I need somebody's super power and can't wait for the other CO. The new units are also fun. I find one of the best CO's being Rachael because of Covering Fire.

Yeah, unleashing three missles from nowhere that don't injure your friendly units is a plus, in my book.

On the other hand, she's got some weaknesses on fog of war maps.....

I think she's okay. Not a favorite, but she's one of the easiest to use in Campaign for me. My favorites in the new batch would have to be Grimm and Sasha.

I just got Advance Wars 1. I've played it for maybe 2 weeks and have gotten thoroughly addicted. I think I would put it in my top 5 video games of all time.

I never played much of the original's Campaign mode, but based on what I've played of AW2 and DS it seems that the levels get just a touch easier on the whole with each sequel. I'd say it would be very much worth getting DS whenever you finish AW1 though, as it is the more substantial upgrade of the two games. Unless you're really interested in the plot, all AW2 really has to offer the franchise is one new unit and some new COs that all show up in DS anyway.

Agh...any tips for mission 18...the one with Red Star at the bottom, Blue Moon on the top and the missile silos nbottom right corner...its hard, Ive tried a few times.
