View Full Version : The Super Skrull, or why it's become impossible to trade anymore...

Everybody needs him.

He's on every want list.

New players, clix gods, casual collectors and hardcore fanatics, all need the green meanie.

He's become the most wanted piece from Clobberin Time. (sorry Nightcrawler, you have an REV now.)

Hyperbole? Maybe. But i see this guy on a lot of lists. It goes KC Superduperman***, KC Yaddayadda**, Silver Smegma**, LE Destiny** (why?), Super Skrull**.

So why can't i give this guy away?

I'm serious, I'll see a guy with three pieces on his want list, and the only thing he'll give me for it is the Parasite. This keeps happening to me. Am i overestimating his value? It just seems to me that if you only want three Us, than you would be willing to come off one of you extra dudes, even if it's one of the top ten. And i didn't even ask for one of those. I just want a Xorn so i can complete my X-men. Is it too much to expect a strait, one-for-one, medium end trade for the shape changing, ugly, brick-faced space monster?

I guess what i'm asking here is: what is the deal with the LE Destiny? No, wait...that's it... Why do people put peices on thier list if they aren't willing to trade for them? You've got three asterisks on it, and you won't hook up a Loki? How about four vets and a feat? No?
Yarrrg! What's wrong with you people? Won't someone rid me of this troublesome piece?
It's getting to the brink of not even being worth trading on this forum anymore.

Whew, good vent. I need a cigarette.sigh.

BTW, anyone want to trade a Xorn for a Super Skrull, pm me. (still on the brink, hope springs eternal.)

sorry to hear about your woas and I would have done that deal if i hadnt accquired my Skrull boy for a handful of nons. I have noticed the same thing that people list them as a high priority in order to get people to make an offer and them lowball them to hades.

Well he's only worth about $10, so I'm not suprised people don't want to trade alot for him. I may want V Songbird alot, but that doesn't mean I'm going to trade KC Supes for her.

I just categorie them as follows:

Traderius Kookamugus: Puts stuff up but wants ridiculous trades for them.
Examples: Have FF Prof X. Want KC Superman and KC GL. or Have KC Superman, Want Thor (low want) Martian Manhunter (low want.)
Have Ares ********* want DP ** or Galactus* (not going to trade a lot for)...well you get the picture.
An insane trader at best or a braggart ("Oooh looky at what I got!") avoid at all costs.

Traderius CantSpeakOrSpellicus: For the last time "It's Kilowog not *Kilowag!!*" If you can't spell it don't ever plan on getting one. Dummies. :tired: Avoid em like the buck-toothed girl at prom. Aint worried about sending because you aint trading with them. They'd probably misspell your address anyways.

eBay Aholicus Every trade is based on what they can get off of ebay. Well buddy, get to steppin'. Ebay is only a click away. EBay is a two way street and only ebay wins in that exchange. Oh wait you forgot about their fees? and shipping/handling? If you didn't factor that in maybe you aren't the person I want to trade with. Annoying and a borderline dumb dumb. Will want you to send first or they will want simulsend.

Collectus Mostallofmus Veteran trader. Only needs the high end stuff you probably don't have anyways (LE Banner, Creed, Adler, Pharzoof) Aint gonna get much from them unless they are in a generous mood. They have good reps but that really don't help when you can't get a trade going with them. You'll most likely have to send first unless you have 20+ references. I am fast approaching this category.

Traderius Noobius Newer trader. Usually don't know what the value of their pieces are and tend to make bad trades early on. Usually see them talking about how "cool" Thanos is or how many points Savage Hulk is. Vulture tend to flock to them to strike while the iron is hot. Typically they have 0-2 Trade references but at least 10 or more PM bumps to their trade thread. They learn fast, but if burned too many times early in their career become a eBay Aholicus or a Kookamugus. They must always send first until they build up their reputation.

Traderius Normalis Reasonable trade thread with what you are looking for. 5-10 trade references. Chances are you are going to be able to make the trade. Sometimes requires a few extra nons, feats on your end to seal the deal. They exist, it just takes a little patience. Can usually get a simulsend.

Traderius Magnifico: Lots of stuff to trade and a good trade references. Actually makes trades that are on their list. Speedy delivery and no BS.

Ford Perfect, I'd hold onto that Superskrull I think he's pretty special. If I had an extra Xorn, I'd trade it too you.

The whole LE Destiny (Irene Adler) thing is the fact that she is a low cost PC without the Brotherhood TA so she is very useful to put with a Sentinal army. She also offers 4 clixs of PC. Most pieces cost more and/or have less PC. Vet Black Cat is 10 pts more and is a very good support piece, but without the Spiderman TA, she has nothing to protect her (a la Destiny's Super Senses). Same holds true for Scarlet Witch.

Rookie Domino (my new favorite PCer) has Super Senses & Stealth with 3 clicks of PC for 35 pts... and is a capable attacker with her AV and range then the comparable Black Cat.

SO been there done that, I think everyone has :)

Traderius Kookamugus:
Thinks any AWESOME PIECE (IE KC or rare) they own is worth 7 or eight stars, whereas if the other person has an Ares they want it's 2 stars and minor want. Good luck with that, later!

eBay Aholicus:
The worst of them all. Yeah EBAY is what we base value on, BASE value on, not to the nickels and cents. I've had people bartering things like "Can you add some nons? Going by the last few ebay sales you items come to $2 less than my end". Dude WTH? This isn't ebay and it's not supposed to be an exact science. Heck if I want your Arim Zola so bad and hate DC chars then trading you KC Supes is a good trade for me, stop being so anal retentive.

Thanks for posting these, nice to know others understand :)

Oh about SuperSkrull though, he's not all that. He's worth maybe $10-$13 compared to KC Supes $40-$50, hardly 2 and 3 stars respectively.

Super-Skrull is mega cool....but I have him. I have a Xorn too that I really don't care for....hmmmm, but I know someone who's aching for the greenie. I'll see if he's got any U's to trade (could even barter the deal for you if you want). If you've still had no luck trading (and threads like this do usually work), let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Ford Prefect,

I've got a Xorn for ya. Here's the deal; I send him to you, you send the FF green meanie to WakandaMan and he gives that piece to his friend. Everyone wins. Oh, and ask Wakanda if you have anything that he might be able to use, like maybe you might have a spare E version of a character he's never been able to get a hold of or something random like that.

The only catch is that I send to you first. What do you say?

When I first started trading here when I started (the old 2002 crew! we should revisit the old threads where we are allowed to call everybody n00bies!), there was just a simple have/want list.
We should track down whoever was the first to start this trend of rating with *****'s or (hard to get) on their figures and

BAN THEM FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I unloaded all my Heroclix a year ago for SWM and just recently got back in. I miss my Super Skrull and will need to try and find another also. Xorn for SS is VERY fair, especially with SS no longer in print. I also want the Furious one, Nick..and he was always like $5.00, and now he seems consistantly $10-15!!!! Good grief.

Good luck :)

Wow. I thought that my above post would've gotten SOME response.

Did you decide you're no longer looking to trade? Did you already with someone else? I'm serious; I'll give you my Xorn, and you send your piece to Wakanda. That's the deal. FP, at least let me know if you'd rather not - I can still sell him on eBay.

Give me a heads up.
