I have started trading on here, but some have fallen through because of high shipping from US to Canada. Any chance of a Canadian only traders thread in a sub forum or something? Make your voices heard fellow canucks!
What are they packing in there? Bricks? It's never been more than a couple of bucks to ship to Canada for me... Even to the UK... Just make sure to put a low amount on the customs form. This could cause problems otherwise.

Actually the price is higher when sending a package within Canada than sending to the US.

Gotta love living in Canada :tired:
oh well, if the price of postage is one of my biggest gripes with the country I think I'm doing ok

I've tried to make a few trades here and there on the realms (never completed one) but I live in Canada and if you want to send me your Have?wants I'll take a look at it and see if there's anything that we could work out.
p.s. where do you live in Canada

i've traded with 2 people from canada, never had a problem. postage shouldn't really be a big deal if you want to do the trade.

The same thing goes on here in The Netherlands. ALL packages up to 5 kgs (almost 3 pounds) cost 5,50 euro (between $6 and $6,50 at the moment, I believe) here, but when sending abroad, prices start lower and increase with weight.
As a consequence, I ship to the USA for slightly less than I would to my neighbour, unless I would start shipping solid led figures.

It seems every few months this topic comes up (we remember asking the same thing when we first discovered the realms).
Being Canadians- we have learned that : some traders will not deal internationally- either too lazy to do paperwork(customs tags) or DC (which is available for some, but at a higher cost)- We wish we can just block them so that we don't see their posts-- hint-hint moderators.
As Canadians we also face the disadvantage of higher shipping costs than our USA counterparts.
But we have also learned that it is frequently quicker to send to Europe than the USA (ever since 9-11 mail has slowed).
One of the perks to HCRealms, and the internet is being able to connect and deal beyond your region, to trade, buy & sell. The anonimity and "rip-off" factor is the downside.
The bottom line is that you should always look to do the best and "safest" deal possible wherever it is.
The shipping is definately an issue, especially on sell threads here where many U.S. people have a tendency to put a kind of 'Canada and International costs extra'.
When I do a trade to the U.S.
Box $2.50 or so ($1.50 U.S.)
Shipping $5.60 ($4.00 U.S.)
Delivery Confirmation $7.00 or so ($5.50 U.S.) INSANE
Incoming from the U.S.
Box $1.50 U.S. or less
Shipping $1.75-$2.50 U.S.
Delivery Confirmation - almost always not possible from U.S. to Canada
That being said, I think I shipped from Ottawa,Ontario to somewhere in BC once and it still cost me about $5.00 although that did include an automatic Delivery Confirmation.
