View Full Version : What's up with LE=Dirt Value
Ok i'm new to this forum and i'm just wondering why most people who've needed alot of the older LE's i've been offering don't wanna give me nothing for them. Now i'd understand if they could run off to e-bay and get them for like $5 or something but i've looked on e-bay for these pieces and most i didn't find (ie Laura Brown, Silver Dreadnought) Now i'm not saying everyone has offered me nothing but there's been alot like "Want Luara, S. Dreadnought, H. Hall; i'll give you Quasar or Ronan the Accusser" LMK what you peepz think, am i just over reacting or am i being tested because of my low refs? Thanks.

Yeah Silver Dreadnaught is worth a little bit of money, not too sure about Brown though.
Well, I know Hector Hall isn't worth too much, nor Laura Brown anymore. I think just lack of interest, set retirement and better and usually cheaper costed newer figures cause the downfall.
I would say you are being tested, as everyone wants to get the best deal. Are you listing Queersar and Ronan as wants, that is why people are offering them? Or, are you just saying you have Laura to trade, pm me offers? It helps to be clear what figures you want, and perhaps spell out a bit more in your trade thread that it will take more than the $5.00 old unique to get Hector etc...
That being said, I think Silver Dreadnaught still goes for a fair bit here.
Yea i've been listing wants in a High/Low fashion but most offers of course are from the Low end, and if does come off my high end wants they'll want 3 or more pieces for it that i just can't see. I think i make some pretty good offers and i'm trying to judge values off how often i see them in have/want lists and prices from e-bay and Scrye mag (useing medium values listed on both mine and their sides of the trade, not el ridiculoso high end) And i did finally find someone who gave me a nice deal on Silver Dreadnaugt. Thanks for the input so far.

It could be that people just don't have the higher end stuff you're looking for (rarity is what makes it higher end after all!). Sometimes people just offer what they have. I'm certain they aren't trying to slip anything by you.

Possible Reasons:
1) Your name is synonymous with marijuana, which is illegal and thus your nature lends itself to being dubious, at best.
2) You ARE being tested by others, but only in the sense of a test as to whether or not you want their pieces for yours. A trade is as fair as one makes it. Really, some of yours are retired.
3) LE's as a whole are declining in value, as are heroclix.
4) Your gangsta-speech/attitude may ward others off as it seems offensive and the writer appears unintelligent to the reader, thus further perpetuating the theory of victimization here.
5) None of the above.
A trade, is a trade, is a trade. Caveat Empor.

So that means they're wanting to give you something for them, right?

I think a lot of the hard core collectors who want LE's just to say they have them have mostly acquired them. Most of us just want the particularly playable ones like LE Doctor Doom or the new Sue Storm. Personly I've always thought it was silly what someone will give for LE's like Irene Adler who aren't even very playable.

Wow, you was really reaching for something on that one....:P
Anyways, all i'm trying to say here is that alot of people seem to need certain pieces but only wanna offer thier garbage for them instead of offering something of equal value. I may have jumped the gun a little on Laura Brown (thinkin' she's worth more) but still i belive she's worth a mid level U. It's not like i was demanding Thor, Nimrod, or some KC piece for her. Well thanks for the input, and the useless comments :)

Totally agree with you here. Irene Adler is worth MAYBE 5 bucks. Then again, value is all a perception, so its all in how you look at it.
Something to keep in mind cash420, is that demand for pieces kind of comes and goes. Some of the older LE's, while harder to come by, aren't necessarily as in demand as they once were. Partially that's because of retirement, partially its because we now have so many figures to choose from, that unless you are strictly a collector or are hardcore into having all of a certain team, you can probably find another piece that does the same thing.
My recommendation would just be to trade if you want, and if you don't get any good offers in your mind, don't trade. Value is all perception. I have a good friend who I've made perfectly reasonable offers to who won't trade because he feels he needs to get the most bang for his buck. And inevitably, he never gets as much as he expects to. Bottom line is unlees someone is in dire need to have a piece, they aren't going to trade their first born to get it. If you don't want the piece anymore, trade it for something you do want. Be a little wise about it, but go by what YOUR value is for the piece, not what ebay or trading forums tell you.

And here I thought I was being uncharacteristically helpful. Mental note: don't trade with cash420.

honestly, hold out for the deal you like/want.
i get 8 or 9 offers for nova and phoenix when i post a thread. i've traded two phoenix's and 2 nova's.
i always wait for the exactly right offer, and i get it eventually.
don't be in hurry to make a trade, i guess, and don't take it personally when people say no. value is all in the eye of the beholder
And here I thought I was being uncharacteristically helpful. Mental note: don't trade with cash420.
Bud the useless comments jive wasn't geared toward you.
As for asking questions, i'll try and refrain from now on.

Ooo, ooo! I have a question!! Why is your post number still at zero?
I actually have no clue. The same thing has happened to me on another forum as well. Oh well.

Posts in the trade forum don't count.
Another answer to your question is this:
It never hurts to ask ;)
I'm often surprised at what some people will trade for what I have that I don't value as much. Others are often surprised at what I value. I finished a trade recently where I sent 4 LEs and a U for 1 higher end LE. I actually thought I would get turned down as I don't much value what I had, but the other guy jumped on it so fast that after, I thought maybe I could have made the trade for less. A valuable lesson learned on my part. I'm still happy with the trade, but I could have been over the top ecstatic if I didn't shoot my wad on the first offer.
Your stuff is worth whatever you are willing to trade it for. I'm of the opinion that nothing I have is untouchable, but some pieces would take a truly blow me away type of offer for me to give up, especially since I have so little to trade at this point.
Well i guess i just got mixed up with a bunch of traders who like to value everyone else's stuff low and theirs' high, i seem to be getting mixed responses about LE's the most. Like a portion of traders are all like LE's aren't worth alot to me and yet they're listed on thier Med and High want lists? It's not like i'm going in saying "Hey i got 3 old LE's and i want your KCs and Thors" :P Well anyways i have made alot of good trades so far and was just expressing my aggrivation at the moment. I would like to ask something of the Traders who are reading this though. I'd like some feedback on what would be considered fair value on some of these figs. I ask this because i constanly get offers on them or see them on want lists, but no one wants to give up anything decent for them. Please give me an idea of either low, med, or high tradeability/desireability.
LE Laura Brown
LE Captain Mar-vell
LE Hector Hall
LE Floyd Lawton
Thanks for all the input so far, and please remember i'm just trying to get an idea of value. Thanks everyone.
LE Laura Brown (mid)
LE Captain Mar-vell (mid)
LE Hector Hall (mid to high, depending)
LE Floyd Lawton (low)
that's just my opinion though

LE Laura Brown
LE Captain Mar-vell
LE Hector Hall
LE Floyd Lawton
Here's my .02.
LE Laura Brown (upper mid) - Based solely on the fact that there isn't many of them out there.
LE Captain Mar-vell (mid) - Also based on limited availability, although he should be more available than the Laura Brown.
LE Hector Hall (mid) - Popularity and usability would cause this one to be a little higher.
LE Floyd Lawton (low) - Barely usable over the REV and there should be plenty of him around.

I've yet to trade online, 'cause I'm a bit jumpy about it, so I'm not sure if my input will help, butI figured I'd give it a shot.
It sounds like the pieces you're looking to offload are pieces that have been retired and/or aren't really that good. In this case, your best bet is the collecters who need them to fill empty spots in your collection. Find the right collector, and you're golden, because often they will be willing to trade tons for them. I'm that way. I'm a collector, and I very, very rarely trade from my collection, just from my doubles. But I am enormously generous with my doubles, as most people at my venue know, especially with newbies. They'll trade me like 1 or 2 pieces that I need just to round out my Infinity Challenge set, and I'll give them 8-10 decent figures that they'll be able to use. So wait for someone like me, who really wants the piece, and is willing to trade a lot for it. A good trade is worth waiting for.
Hey thanks for the input. I'd say what i've been offered for the first three has for the most part not been worth tradeing and i'm glad i've turned them down. Hey Maddarwin, you need any of those :)

lol Yeah, I need all of them in fact. Unfortunatly, I have absolutely none of your wants. :p That's one of the reasons I don't trade online. I can trade fine locally, but I just don't have the right stuff for the big leagues. Thanks for the offer though. :)
Well wouldn't consider myself a major player or nothing, just out for the figs i like. Well if you could really use them just PM a list of things you have to trade, except for LE Floyd Lawton they're still up for grabs :) Thanks again everyone.
