Let the discussions flow. Likes, dislikes, classic film or overhyped trash, and DONT FORGET to place an Overall Rating when youre done.
Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.
So, what say you all?
Next Film: ??????
One of the first films ever to really show us what computer animation could do. Setting, People, Machines, Equipment nearly everything in nearly every scene of this movie was computer created or enhanced, and for all of us who saw this when we were kids, it was alot of fun. (I even remember seeing this for the first time with a friend, and then going into my backyard, each of us armed with a frisbee, and started playing Tron Deadly Disks for real) :)
A very cool story overall, with the always impressive David Warner (as the main baddy Zark) showing why hes one of the premiere villain actors of that time, and Jeff Bridges as the smart alecky User/Program, Flynn whose destiny was to bring down the evil Master Control Program. A smart, well written film with loads of cool effects (certainly for its time) and a good cast of characters which help make this movie one fun movie going experience. (and the video game spinoffs created from this film werent bad at all either)
My Rating: 8 / 10

I really like Tron as a kid. The glow in the dark costumes were one of the coolest things at the time. As a film, it was light years ahead of it's time. Made in the early 1980s1, computers weren't even common household items at the time. The internet was just barely being dreamed of (the movie talks about what we would come to call hacking over cyberspace).
The computer animation still stands the test of time. The story is fun, and the acting is better then average.
I would give it a solid 8.5 stars (and yes, I do own the collecters edition, with stills, making of, deleted scenes, etc).

I love Tron! It was just so awesome back in the day.
Easily I give it 8.5 stars as well...
And I need to look into getting that collectors edition.

Not as big on Tron as I am on Raiders and Die Hard...however, when taken into the context of the time it was created it is undoubtedly a landmark film. It is unabashedly directed toward a culture that would grow more and more significant in years to come...I'm referring to video games and computers of course. However, what Tron has in technology which can sometimes be overlooked when not taken it's time period into account, it loses in character dept and story. This is not Star Wars by any stretch of the imagination but for some reason quite a few sci-fi films can somehow escape unscathed without putting too much emphasis into the human element, as that isn't really what they set out to do. I of course loathe films that are too entrenched in their genre to have drama within it's story...take 90% of horror films for example. Tron isn't altogether guilty of this though as Bridges's hero and the film's villain Dillinger are definitely engaging.

Now weve only heard from 4 members regarding this film, myself included, surely more of us have seen this Sci Fi Classic.
Never really liked this movie. So I'll give it a 6. I know it's supposed to be good and for what reasons, it just isn't great to me.
Heck, thats fine, you dont have to love, or even like, the movies that were rating here on these threads to participate, just come on in and speak your mind. Give it a 1, or a 10, the important thing is that we hear from you all. :)

I always liked Tron as a young kid, it had/has a distinct visual style that no one has really tried to copy for whatever reason. Some of the themes are interesting and considering its "just" a sci-fi movie and a disney movie to boot, its incredibly well acted.
For its historical value as well as its enjoyability factor I'll give it: 8.5

8.5/10, rewatched it lately and it still looked good.
 What the heck is this ?! Tron's rating is below 8 ?! What the heck is wrong with you people ?! :p Tron is a GREAT movie, and I don't say it because I loved it as a kid, since the first time I've watched it I was 18 years old approx., and the movie stunned me. First its the only movie about video games that is worth watching (except Cronenberg's eXistenz of course - and I don't mention Wargames (nice but completely outdated))
- well at least it's the only one I can remember that's worth it (once again except Cronenberg's eXistenz). The main thing that stunned me was the art/overall look of the movie : I found it beautiful (if only recent computer-generated movies could have a style I'd be glad, but the more they are released, the more the lack of creativity is obvious(at least to me)). I discovered recently that one of my favorite artist (Jean Giraud a.k.a. Moebius, the guy who draw Silver Surfer : Parable) was part of the movie's art, and that may explain my love for it. I'll give it a 9/10.

I give this movie a 10/10. Why? It may not have the BEST story ever, but what it lacks in story it makes up for in artistic beauty. IMHO Tron is one of the prettiest movies I have ever seen, and has been a huge influence on my artwork and webdesign. Its completely different and genius. There was nothing like it before and nothing but imitators afterwards.

This movie is a 7 out of 10. While it has some great memories for me, and the light cycle scenes are still exciting...my thoughts are tainted (http://www.pinkgodzillagames.com/events/tron%20guy-thumb.jpg)every time I think of this movie.

I love this movie. I was thinking of giving it a 7/10. The effects cleared the way for the TV classic Automan!
But I still love Tron. Video games, toys, and great fanciful daydreams.
You love the movie but you only give it a 7 / 10?

You love the movie but you only give it a 7 / 10?
Yeah...while I love the movie I also understand it isn't a masterpiece of cinema or writing. 7/10 is a good score IMO.
If you are going with halfs I'd probably go a 7.5.
Heck, Im going quarters. :)
Also, keep in mind each of us should rate these movies based on how we each feel about them, so if you Love a movie, even if its widely considered average or worse, feel free to give it a great rating showing that it is one of your personal favorites. Your call of course.

Unique storyline plus the first of new technology that would evolve to stuff we watch now.
Good characters, good villains, good memorable lines. I spent much of my youth playing Tron with friends with a half dozen Frisbees.
5/10 Average film that I never really got into.
