View Full Version : Please Read This If You Plan On Posting An Auction
Good day to everyone,
Due to some ongoing problems, something new is going to be implemented for AUCTIONS only. To post and auction you must have 20+ feedback on the realms. This allows you to get trader experience and also keeps scammers who jump on here with new accounts and take advantage of people.
Trades and sales will remain the same as they always have, just remember to take caution and feel free to use me as a resource.
Thanks for you time everyone
Good day and good gaming
PS: Please NO THREADS that have the words Selling before going to ebay or Buy these before going to ebay will be allowed. These will be pulled immediately. If you plan on selling on ebay have fun this is hcrealms.
In addition, silent bid auctions are no longer allowed on HCRealms. This is to help prevent massive fraud attempts.
A change is further being implemented to the Auction listings. You MUST have a rating of 20 or more (all positive) and have been a member for at least 60 days. If you wish to post an auction and do not meet the requirements, please contact myself via PM and I will discuss it on a case by case basis. This is effectively immediately (April 10th, 2006). All currently running auctions will finish as planned.

Just out of curiousity. What about people who only have a few feedback under the new system but have over 20 from thye previous versions of the good trade system, such as myself? Not that I plan on doing any new auctions anytime soon but just in case. :) I think I know the answer but I'd like to make sure.

I said in my previous post that if you don't meet the requirements but still wish to post an auction to PM me. I will judge status on a case by case basis.

I have a question, what types of things can we auction off? Only clix related, or can we auction comic books too? I obviously don't mean cars, TVs, jewellry etc.

Comic books are certainly acceptable in this case.

I just started trading on here but since theres quite a bit of overlap from HCRealmers and Wizkids players can I be credited for our trader rating on the Wizkids Trader Forums?
No, This is HCREALMS and that is WIZKIDS.
I'm confused by the auctions going on recently. They seem to last forever and there is this now popular floating end-time. They all say it is to prevent sniping which I understand but an end time should be an end time, right?
Example: auction will end at 7:59 but will allow (some amount of time) for last minute bids.

a few of them end the auction 15 minutes after the last placed bid after the end time
Say and Auction ends at 10:00 and they have a bid come in at 9:59, well then the auction will go on until 10:14. If there is a bid at 10:13 then it continues. This does alot to help those who cant be here every second.. or may have trouble logging on

The seller obviously benefits tremendously by preventing sniping, since the price will run higher for in-demand items.
However, this is also a courtesy for the potential buyers. If someone is willing to bid on an item, then they would like the opportunity to keep bidding until they either win the auction or reach their personal limit. It's disappointing to lose an auction simply because the last bidder didn't leave you enough time to respond.
By allowing for overtime, you keep the excitement of a last-minute runup while keeping things more "fair" for all involved. It makes the experience more enjoyable for everyone.

This quote is from an old post, but should this apply to using PM's in an Auction thread? Becase if someone PM's, and if the list isn't updated regularly, then people could actually lose their bids without knowing it. Even sniping is more tolerable than bidding "silently" in an auction.
I am no longer a mod on this topic, but with the current "Crisis" I would HIGHLY suggest being careful with most auctions or sales right now.

I only have a trader rating of 2. Does this mean I can't try to bid on people's auctions until I get to 20 or is that just for starting a thread?
I'm new to the trader scene.....

You can bid on auctions, you just can't have your own until you hit the required itrader to run your own.

we'll talk via pm.
Edit: oh, and the 20 feedback rule is for auctions. Sales require at least 10 references.
