Some asks you to recommend 5 comics right now, irregardless of company..what would you choose? Me:

1. JSA- Still holding up as the best book out there, IMHO
2. New Avengers-I hate bendis, but this book caught on with me, and I ran with it like a wildfire through a forest.
3. Ultimates 2-Gripping from issue to issue. Intense!
4. Infinite Crisis-Biggest and best thing going on in comics right now, bar none.
5. Ghost Rider-Visually, the most beautiful book being put out. Oh yeah, the story's pretty good too.

What are yours?

Infinite Crisis + Tie Ins: What can I say? DC is the king.

New Avengers. It's slightly classic yet extremely modern. Good work for Bendis, who I don't usually like.

Ultimates 2: Aw, so good...

JSA: Yep, I am a sucker for the classics, too.

Ultimate X-Men: I love seeing this bad boy on the self. What a good series.

1. Ultimates 2 - Spectacular mix of Superheroes, Suspense, Political Satire, Relationship Drama and Realism. Millar and Hitch produce the most clever and polished title on the market.
2. Cable & Deadpool - Mutants, Mercs, Toilet Humor and Industry Inside Jokes. In the post-She-Hulk era this title picked up the slack as the most hilarious title on the market. If you didn't pick this up because Rob Liefeld and the 90's sucked, you're missing out on a book that Nicieza and Zircher have placed among the best done in the 2000's.
3. New Avengers - Believe the hype on this one. Over the course of 11 issues this title has elevated Spider Woman, Luke Cage and Sentry to being the hottest properties in comicdom. The reason? Fresh storytelling, great character dynamics, crisp dialogue and soap opera intrigue. Books like this are the reason most of us started reading comics.
4. Wonder Woman - With the recent tide of crossovers and tie-ins that sees many DC titles waiver in quality from month to month, this title has remained the high water mark for over a year. Rucka and Morales have blended myth with modern age DC super heroism to create one of the most dynamic and intriguing character titles on the market.
5. Infinite Crisis - Like it or not these are the titles you reread after you've bagged and boarded your books and banished them to your long box. It could be the comic event of the decade, it could be nothing but a flashy crisis-redux and it could even be both. Chances are you'll regret not picking it up.

My god, yes. I'm almost keeling over waiting for it.
Any word on the artist?

You know, I'm honestly not sure, if I've heard who would be doing it. Oh well, one more issue, and then he's on!

1. Y the Last Man: I may only read it by trade, but each time I do I fall in love with the series all over again.

2. Ultimate Spider-Man: Okay, it's not what it once was, but I'm too big a Spidey fan to not love some good self contained stories about my favourite hero in a more modern context.

3. Runaways: I can't remember the last time a team book, much less with teenagers in it, was so much fun. I only wish the X-men comics I had when I was a kid were this engaging.

4. Vampire Game: I'm sure no one knows what this is, but it rocks. One of the few "funny" books out there that actually makes me laugh out loud.

5. Villains United: I know it just finished, but it is still kinda new. It was the only Countdown title that really grabbed my attention and I love Gail Simone's stuff so it was a lot of fun to read.

JSA - Nicely done superhero team book
Superman/Batman - great fun, good action, pretty much what I'm looking for in a comic book
Daredevil - Bendis has done the best DD since Frank Miller.
Teen Titans - It's been consistantly good for 26 issues so far. Even Liefeld couldn't wreck it.
Birds of Prey - Gail Simone writes characters you actually care for.

Actually it's one more issue, and Kirkman is on with Tom Raney. Singer is continuing to push back the date, so now you're looking at 9 more issues before Singer shows up. Still, Kirkman should be good.

My 2 cents...

JSA - This is the benchmark by which all other team books should be judged by currently. Good characterization, the modernizing of classic villians and themes, and characters you geniunly grow to care about.
Hawkman - The last year of this book is just about as perfect as it gets. A revenge EPIC! I was worried when Johns left, but Palimontti has allievated my fears and made me even a bigger fan than I already was.
The Goon - If for some reason your not reading this then your missing out on a hybrid of horror, humor, and heroics. Political correctness has NO place on Lonely Street, and the Goon and Frankie deal with the dead in ONE simple way, "...KNIFE TO THE EYE!"
Conan - A sprawling epic. I hope Nord and Busiek never leave this title. It is an excellent retelling of Conan's literary history, via Howards books, and new tales that bridge the gaps from Busiek.
Young Avengers - I admit, I like this book, hell I love it! I wanted to hate it, I really did. BUT its been Marvel's answer to the Teen Titans, I dig the characters, the supporting cast, and the best part is that it is just getting rolling.

Honorable Mentions...
New Avengers - The king is dead, long live the king. Bendis has kept my interest and has made some 3rd stringers 1st stringers, I'm in for the long haul.
Any Geoff Johns Book - Teen Titans, Green Lantern, Infinite Crisis, etc. they are all good, and offer something different to the table.
Infinite Crisis & All its Myriad Mini's and Tie-Ins - What can I say this is the big one!
Any Dan Slott Book - See Geoff Johns. He is a combo of Eric Powell's humor and John's ability to right the tights scene, and he brings a fresh voice to Marvel. She-Hulk, GLA, and the upcoming Thing serious are all on my pulls list, they should be on yours...

BUT again thats just one man's opinion.

Astonishing X-Men (when it comes out, when was last issue?)

It's on hold.

Whedon and Cassady were originally signed for a 12 issue run. About the time issue 9 hit the stands, they were resigned for an additional 12 issues.

Whedon and Cassady both had other projects scheduled to work on post Astonishing, so they were going to work on those, before coming back for the next 12. I believe one of Joss' projects had to do with developing and finalizing the script for Wonder Woman.

No time table has been mentioned (to the best of my knowledge), as to their expected return.
