Tell me friends, how often is it that one is "ripped off" on these forums.
IE: you send away your fig expecting one in return and you get nothing back.
I dont care about people backing out of trades, or mix ups that can be fixed. I mean actually ripped off.

The "rip-offs" have been becoming fewer and farer between thanks to the efforts of Rock810. He's gone to great lengths to make this place an excellent site for trading.

Here's some things to look for when starting to make a trade.

Trader Ratings. Each person has a trader rating next to their user ID. You can see mine (it's currently 33). When you click on the number, it takes you to a screen detailing all of the people who left feedback, and a comment from each of those people regarding the validity of the person in question. You can see if the feedback was positive, nuetral or negative. Obviously, the higher the rating the more reliable the trader.

Too good to be true. If the person offers you KC Superman for your Arnim Zola and Orphan, most likely it is a scam attempt. Trades like this never make sense, so the only logical view on it is that someone is trying to rip you off.

Getting Out of Game sale. Be cautious with these. The person getting out of the game most likely will never come back, so what does it matter if you get the short end of the stick? It won't affect them at all. Not everyone who sells their entire collection is bad, though. it's just trader rating can mean nothing in an event like this.

Just Registered User. A person who just registered and is asking for mid to low end pieces and has high end pieces to offer isn't the most secure trade thread out there. Again, this is where trader ratings play a big part.

DC Numbers. People who use delivery confirmation are a definite plus. You have something to go off of and should a trade be lost in the mail, it's a bit easier to figure out where something went wrong.

Sending First. Having a lower trade rating means you will most likely be asked to send first. Since you are new, people can't trust you yet. Don't take offense to it. Everyone started out new and everyone has had to send first at some point.

All of that said, there are sticky threads at the top of each forum. I suggest giving them a read over at the start as they will help you greatly. I certainly wish you the best trading here should you decide to start out.

Given that it was you who posted the trade in question and that there was nothing to suggest you were making a joke, I assumed you were being serious with your comment.

i havent used a smilie on the internet in like ten years. Then expect to be misinterpreted quite frequently.
Smilies help to communicate tone, and are quite useful in a text-only environment. For example:

Wow, 10 years on the internet! I am so impressed.

verse

Wow, 10 years on the internet! I am so impressed.

See- the sarcasm is so much more obvious in the secon one...

I think that sarcasm in inherently mean and essentially just a condescending lie.
Irony is much more approachable and can be communicated in a text enviroment if just dryly. I wasnt trying to be sarcastic, but i guess communication breakdowns are often a result of both parties not putting enough effort in to understand eachother.
